I like Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Pure-Castile Soap. It smells good and is tingly. You can buy it in bars or as liquid in the new age/healthy/granola/hippy section of your mega market.

Never found much difference between them, myself, I keep a variety on hand, much the way I keep a variety of sodas in my icebox.

Riptidenj.

Don't get them confused.

There are some place that bubbles for extra gas are not needed and that is one.

That's wrong. The use of antibacterial soaps outside of a health care setting is believed to be contributing to the creation of antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria. 'Plain' soaps have been shown to do just as good a job of removing bacteria from body parts.

Procrastinator,
Thank you for the three eye-opening articles. I knew about what could happen by freely subscribing antibiatic medicines, but I did not think of household cleaning agents causing a problem by making germ-resistant strains.

Within the last two years I have had both a shoulder joint and a hip joint replacement operation, and before leaving home for each opertion I was told to bathe before-hand with antibotic soap.

Just a plain bar of soap and a nice shower is all I use. Why spend money on those 'scented' soaps that many, myself included, are allergic too? KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid, and that is not an attack on those who disagree. I live by those words everyday. Just keep it simple.:smoking:

Then you must disapprove of a bar of soap with a cord built into it so that you can hang it up in the shower. :):):)

Same here - basically any soap (or any product for that matter) that has the fewest ingredients and that breaks down readily.

.....So that's what the cord is for :)

I use Dial shower gel when I shower, which is daily, and sometimes twice a day due to running and working out.

One added tip. After one defecates he/she should not stop with the toilet paper. The clean up should be completed with a wipe or two, i.e. Huggies, Baby Fresh Wipes, or one of the other personal hygiene disposable clean up wipes. There are some on the market that are flushable. Huggies were available before manufacturers were cognizant that some of us adults want to be cleaner than tp can afford after the business is done. Cannot not always shower after going but using the wipes can get one very very very close to having just washed. Doing this will insure that your sitting towel will still be clean when you stand up.

I use Ivory soap or similar for my head and torso areas, which tend to be oily. For my legs and lower arms and feet and hands, I apply Dove, because I've had troubles with dry skin in those areas. Dove apparently has oil in it.

For my back, I've a luffa sponge on a stick that I use to get to it.

For the real "back end", I flush and then use the toilet water splashed up with my hand to clean back there. I only use toilet paper to dry off. Learned this in India. Generally didn't have toilet paper there. Asian toilets generally are a ceramic hole in the floor, often combined with the shower. No toilet paper. They generally use their hand with water or a little piece of hose attached to a faucet in that area. Use of only toilet paper will often rub you raw and cause bleeding.

I only use plain Ivory liquid or bar soap. My dermatologist cautions against using all the perfumes, and anti bacterial type of soaps. Infact, my dermatologist recommends only using soap about four times per week. The other days, shower with plain water, and only use soap on "the Fast Moving parts" (as our family calls them). That's arm pits and private areas.

Ole attended a Norwegian Club meeting and won first prize, a toilet brush. He tried it out for a couple of weeks, then went back to using toilet paper.

The Romans used to use either a sea sponge or luffa on a stick to clean their rectums. Seems there was a small detent in the seat of the toilet (those multi-holers in public toilet areas) through which the sponge was inserted. There was usually moving water running either underneath the toilet or just in front of it in which to clean the sponge.

A dermatologist put me onto the use of Dove for my arms and legs, hands and feet. One of my regular doctors, a Canadian, tried to get me to only take a shower every other day after I told her that I take several a day in the summer and usually 2/day in the winter. This was after I'd gotten an infection in one foot from bacteria entering cracks in the heals of my feet. These cracks and fungi under my toenails were fixed by another dermatologist putting me on Lamosil orally. I can see possibly going to a shower every other day in the cooler periods in Canad, but not during the warm weather here in Virginia. I don't use any deodorant. Showering a couple times a day is a must.

I use a gentle deodorant soap. If you are unsure about "cleanliness", then shower a bit more frequently.

A daily application of soap and water works for me. I use whatever soap or body wash the wife buys. I'm hoping no one gets their nose close enough to notice.

If there is a racing strip on underwear it is because it typically gets stuck between the cheeks.

A nudist has no underwear to get between the cheeks.

A towel you are on will not get a racing stripe.

People wearing clothes or not have anuses and deficate. People have their systems for cleaning their anal clefts. If you don't really know how to clean your anal celft, perhaps you should avoid social settings textile or nude.

Very interesting Topic here, mmm nice advice too.For me what works is Dove Bar soap its nice on your skin and does not dry you out like some soaps do.Ive used my share of Soaps The right way for me to clean is after you do your Number 2 thing using Wet wipes after using toilet paper.Seems Toilet paper is to dry.But Wet wipes do a good job of making sure your clean there.Cuts down on skid marks, too.

I don't believe this is even a topic here!!! Just rub a little soap (any soap) on it then rinse it off, believe me it will be just fine!! What's the big deal? Everyone has a butt crack to clean, so clean it in public or private, it really is no problem. Just keep it clean!!!!

I recommend a simple liquid soap to clean. Some thing that does not have any extra detergents. The body can handle simple soap easily like "Ivory". Remember soaps clean because breakdown skin oils to all them to "lock" the dirt in bubbles(water) and wash it away from your body. That is all that is really needed.

Yes there are those that fear the creation of stronger antibiotic resistant bacteria (which only means that we don't have the known "target" hooks to kill it), but remember your body responds the same way. It is creating stronger antibiotics (that is they target the new strains of bacteria).

Hope that helps.

Also the right way for me to clean your behind after you do your Number 2
is using Wet wipes after you using toilet paper.
Frankie
I think you may want to reword that. ;)
