I am a nudist and I am frequently able to talk friends into streaking with me. I am quite comfortable but I feel the need to cover up. From other people's experience, if you have been streaking with non nudists, (ie. they've only been nude to streak, not at a beach or something) do you feel the need to slightly cover up, or do you feel it is OK to be ALL out there since you are out there anway?

Listen2me;
Streaking may be fun, but it is exhibitionism. It is not nudism.
Nudism means enjoying nudity in a non-sexually threatening setting.
Nudism means being considerate for others.
Putting your body on exhibit as in streaking is not nudism.

I'm in agreement with Walter. Streaking is not naturism/nudism.....it's just showing off, taking a dare, being reckless, etc.
It's the kind of behavior that causes issues and actually hurts the naturist movement.

I guess I never thought of it that way, I was just happy to be able to be naked. With everyone else around it felt like it was OK.

I appreciate your acceptance of my point.
I can tell you mean well.

I also think it's exhibitionism, and rather juvenile as well.

I don't really agree that it hurts.
I don't like it when it is unduly disruptive - such as during play at a sporting event (save it for the time outs).
But I mostly consider it harmless hijinks. It is non sexual, almost always causes more cheers than consternation, and has yet to cause physical or mental harm to the spectator.
A good sign is that it has ceased to be shocking to almost everyone (always excepting Stu), so really has little purpose other than attracting attention - as opposed to sexual exhibitionism. Like nude protests, streaking has lost much of its power because the vast majority of people are surprisingly blase about actual non sexual nudity when they encounter it - as opposed to the few anti-nudity activists who hold sway over too many people in authority.

A lot of people become nudists as a result of a dare, be it streaking or jumping in a pool or lake nude, etc... They initially do it for the adrenaline rush, then realize that once the rush has passed, there is the feeling of freedom and liberation. And then they realize that they wouldn't mind not having to put their clothes back on.
So even though streaking is not in and of itself a nudist activity - it can lead to it.
I love streaking too but its not naturism/nudism.

I never said that it hurts. I think it can actually be fun. I remember doing it when I was in high school.
However, I was just pointing out that it is not nudism.

I have to agree streaking is more of a fun thing and has nothing to do with nudity/naturism, etc.
In college, during the 60s streaking became a campus fun activity with colleges across the nation doing it. We didn't streak through games but through the campus. I think the year my college did a huge streak, we still loss to Boston University. LOL
It is fun and yes, it is exhibitionism but overall it was quite bold at the time.
Yes, I streaked during that time of my life and had a ball. Beer kegs awaited us when we returned to the college green. LOL

Well........I dunno bout that...........we have a certain unamed poster here who might faint at the sight of a streaker, fall down, and hit his head on something. That certainly would hurt.

For me, streaking is both fun and not nudism.

I don't necessarily think streaking is sexual. It can be, but so can most anything. It depends on the intent. If there is no sexual intent, why can't it be nudism? Is it only because the label "streaking" is used. What if its just "nude running?"

To me streaking has nothing to do with nudism. A streaker just wants to be different and to have shock value. This is the same reasons I believe that many dye their hair green or two-toned or dressing in bright yellow. They are just wanting to be noticed.
However since nudity is seen as sexual in our society (not by most in this forum), streaking can also feel a little naughty (in the good sense) so it becomes fun.

Streaking , to me , would be a very stressfull task as one must have clothing at the end of his or her run so they may return . We nudists do not have that problem . Would love to try it .

Oh, I agree that it is not nudism. And BTW, it was Danita who said it hurts nudism - but I don't think people associate streaking with nudism.

I love jogging in the nude every day very early in the mornings when everyone is sleeping. I also never wear clothes on hiking trips with friends who are not nudists. Would this be considered "Streaking" or just a naturist doing some jogging / hiking.

I remember when streaking first started in the 70's and it was all about shocking everyone in a very harmless and funny way. Seems to me it is still harmless and still gets folks laughing. I have done it once or twice and it is just plain fun.

On the two occasions I have streaked with others, I have had no idea whether or not they choose to be naked at other times like when at a beach. These were both when younger and I enjoyed it, perhaps at the time not thinking about it as naturism, just fun.
The police are probably now likely more to be called and act, so it's a bit too risky now.

Years ago, I was walking home from the pub with a mate and he said, "Let's go streaking". When I asked where, he said through the gardens round the back of the houses on the road we were walking along. I said OK, so we stripped naked (apart from our trainers) and ran naked through the gardens. It was a real buzz and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I didn't feel the need to cover up as that would defeat the object of streaking in the first place. And it was just a bit of fun, 2 blokes walking back from the pub wanting to do something daring that wouldn't hurt anyone or cause any damage

I think it's definitely acceptable to be nude around your friends when streaking. That's the point and if anyone isn't comfortable they should speak up before the streaking begins. As long as you respect that, go for it, just be very careful. You can get listed as a sexual offender for being naked outside. I've streaked twice, and I think that's it for me. The cost is too great.

I streaked once when I was about 15. There were about 5-6 of us (males) and we all dared each other. There was a mobile home park near some woods, so we went into the woods and stripped. (btw it didn't take me long to strip) a couple were a little nervous and one chickened out. (bummer for him) And away we went between two trailers, down the road, between two more trailers and back into the woods. The whole event took about 2 minutes from strip to dress LOL What a hoot.:D

I too love streaking with friends or even on own, but I wouldn't call it naturism/nudism just plain fun

I once took a ride on my bycicle late one night and later decided - what the heck - and stripped naked for a while while riding. The next moment a car came past and I had no chance to get dressed. They just hooted and drove on. To be safe I got dressed and went home with another road. Had a nice adrenalin rush - must say!

Brings back memories of college. UCLA back in the 70"s. Streaking was the fad, everyone was doing it in large groups. It ended up more like strolling or loitering than streaking. It was a lot of fun, the Dean of Students (fully clothed) even led songs and cheers in front of the "streakers" to make it even more of a party atmosphere. Makes me long for the good old days.
