I utilize AVG 8.5 free virus protection and Malwarebytes to protect my system. I run each a couple times a week and keep them updated daily. The scan results of each program state everything is fine. On occasions I will run Windows Live One Care Safety Scanner and the recent scan stated I had two serious problems which it could not fix. The supposed problems are:
Trojan:Win32/sudiet.B & Virtool:win32/obfuscator.et
Has anyone encountered these viruses and if so, what did you use to get rid of them?

I just tried Googling them and searching the Symantec website for them.
Nothing on Symantec.
Only thing I get through Google is links to assorted links to buy some flavor of anti-spyware.
Nothing that looks legit, except this http://www.threatexpert.com/threats/trojan-win32-sudiet-b.html http://www.threatexpert.com/threats/virtool-win32-obfuscator-c.html site that says it is also known as...
Searching for the first part on Symantec gives this link for removal.

Searching for the second part gives this link for removal.

AVG used to be considered pretty good. Not sure on if that is still true.
It MIGHT be that it already finds it by one of the other names.

Have you tried downloading "SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY"? It is a free anti-spyware program. I use it regularly along with AVG 8.5 and ADAWARE and Windows Defender. I have not had any major problems other than one that was my own fault. You can go to KIM KOMANDO's web site and check out the downloads section for FREE security software. Go to www.komando.com and click on the downloads button.
Good Luck.

Thanks for your reply Country Guy. Yes, I had Spybot until yesterday when I attempted to download the free security center (McAfee) provided by AT&T. It would not load due to Spybot and AVG being on my computer. I deleted both but for some reason Spybot left a file which will not delete so I could not download the security center. I downloaded AVG once again as I need some protection. I have not reloaded Spybot as yet. I did run it before deleting it and it only detected some adware and not the two viruses that OneCare says I have.
I will checkout the site you suggested, thanks again.

SUCCESS!!
A member of a computer club gave me four instructions to enter via Safe Mode Command Prompt and it got rid of the problem. Ran OneCare and it stated I had 0 issues. Now my next task will be to find a Virus program that will keep this from happening again.
Once again, thanks to all that posted suggestions. It is nice to know that I have access to knowledgeable members versed in many fields.

:) Glad to hear you got the problem resolved. I'm not computer savy enough doing those special commands. The major problem that I mentioned was cause when i was chatting online via YAHOO MESSENGER and out of the blue I received a prompt asking if I would accept a file download from the person I was chatting with. Of course I accepted and the file was downloaded and saved in a folder. Then in my eagerness, I went to the folder and clicked on the file to open it. BAD MOVE!!!! It was a TROJAN and it took over. My only recourse was to wipe out my harddrive and re-install the operating system and start all over from scratch. My backups were old so i lost about 3 months worth of photos from a daily nudist photo site.:( BUT, I learned a good lesson - BACK UP YOUR HARD DRIVE OFTEN!!!
Have a great day.:D

Countryguync;
If there is a next time, go to the Symantec website. They have all kinds of free tools and instructions for cleaning up systems. You may be able to save that work.

I purchased an external drive a year or so ago and I do backup my system (when I remember) using the Microsoft backup program. It say's it has backed up sucessfully but I have never used the restore function so I have no idea if it works or not. Has anyone used this program in the restore mode?
I have no idea where these viruses came from but at the time the computer went nuts and I ended up with a blue screen stating the system had stopped to prevent damage. I ended up going to Safe Mode and restoring to the last good startup. Thankfully it got me operational again but had these two viruses that I could not get rid of. As stated earlier I use the free version of AVG 8.5 for protection which failed to stop this and did not detect the two viruses when scanning after the event. Thank goodness for Windows Live OneCare Safety Scanner which is the only program that detected the problem.
Thanks for the Symantec advice Walter05.

Al;
Once a month or so, do a complete virus scan with the external drive connected and scan it too. It can be frustrating to clean a system, plug in the drive, and reinfect it.
