Sarah Palin announces plan to run for Governor of Alaska in 2010
July 28, 2009, 1:57PM

WASILLA - In a surprise announcement from a diner in this small Alaskan town, former Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin announced her plans to run for the position again in 2010.

"You know that I don't do things like normal folk," said Palin, dressed in fishing gear, a hunting cap, and a t-shirt that read "No. 1 Grandma!"

Palin continued, "I think the make-believe media are hating the troops, and I won't stand for that. That is why I announce my decision to campaign for the position of Governor of the great state of Alaska."

Palin, who resigned as Alaskan Governor yesterday, said she felt like she had the experience to run the state.

"I'm not just some politician in a suit," said Palin. "I'm here, right now in the real world. And in 24 hours I've seen that I'm again needed again by America and Alaska again."

Current Alaskan Governor Sean Parnell was quick to endorse Palin against himself.

"There is no question that I will run for this office in 2010," said Parnell. "And I should lose badly to the great Alaskan leader and American thinker, Sarah Palin."

While the majority of political pundits have thus far reacted to Palin's announcement with stunned silence, Bill Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard," called it a cunning tactical move.

"This is just brilliant by Palin," said Kristol."Dear Christ, she's hot."

During her 2-hour, 32-minute speech, Palin repeatedly ripped into the U.S. media, called Barack Obama's economic plans "The most Fascistly communisty thing this side of Eek," and called Alaskan singer Jewel a "snaggle-toothed *****" for no apparent reason.

"If you are against me, you are against the U.S. troops because my son is a troop," said Palin, who twice stopped speaking to gut a salmon. "I said I'm not a quitter and my comeback will prove that I'm a maverick, you betcha."

Palin added that she will begin campaigning immediately, but campaign exclusively from the continental U.S.

"How's that for mavericky?" said Palin, who also sported a crucifix the size of a regulation softball around her neck. "I'm here always for the people of Alaska. My task is greater, and I was given divine direction that the best place to do this was as an absentee governor.

"Wow, I feel like I caught a 200-pound halibut here, this is great, being back in front of my people," added Palin, who for a 22-minute stretch spoke in tongues. "So love Jesus, love the troops, vote Palin."

I did not vote for McCain / Palin. But I am saddened by her troubles.

First of all, there are very few people in either party that espouse an ideology these days. She clearly spoke for the conservatives.

We need people who espouse liberal and conservative views. They keep the process honest.

The latest ethics charge against her is for raising $500,000 for a legal defense fund. The charge is that she was only able to raise that kind of money because she was the governor and has a national public image.

However, it could be argued that she would not be defending some of these charges if biased people were not making them.

I think this charge is unfair. If politicians are charged, they need to be able to raise funds to defend themselves. Otherwise, few other than the rich will run for office.

I am saddened by Sarah Palin's fall.

Apparently the youtube video has been pulled. One assumes some conservative didn't like it and they cowed. That's sad.

It is still there. I don't know why it would be pulled. It is just William Shatner reciting her speech verbatim. He is doing it in the style of beat poetry. It is hysterical.

None of this is funny.
Why do you continue to beat down and degrade her but anytime someone does that to your people you have a problem?
Don't you see the problem with being a liberal?
It's as 2 faced as it gets!
I never understand how a women can criticise her so badly.
Jealousy is the only thing that comes to mind. She does get alot of attention!

gmoney,

How does liberal have anything to do with the comments being made or is this just YOUR way of saying those who laugh at the Palin jokes or videos, or Shatner's skit are liberals. Don't think for one moment you would not laugh if it was a skit on Obama, Biden, and some other Democrat.

And what is this about "your people"?

And what is this noise you are making that you cannot understand why a woman could laugh? The skit is hilarious. In fact, Palin, in general, is a hoot. She is, imo, one whacked out religious zealot who enjoys making people look foolish as she did McCain and his whole campaign. She was an embarrassment. She continues to act like a loose cannon. She is also an embarrassment to women everywhere. Her campaign as vice presidential candidate was insulting to women (and men).

Of course she gets a lot of attention. She is one flaming example of someone who should stay away from politics. Even the Republican Party has said she was unfit for the job and they worked their butts off to try to help the campaign by grooming her to not embarrass them which she did time and time again.

Yes, hear, hear.

Nothing to do with women or liberals, if you were paying attention. Did you listen to the speech? It wasn't actually quite as bad or weird as when she announced her resignation. To believe your proximity to a foreign country equates to foreign policy experience was priceless. To the Democratic campaign it was the gift that kept on giving and it appears if she becomes in the running for Republicans in the next campaign, it will keep on giving.

Well said MoonShadow! I totally agree.

Furthermore, I see no reason to be jealous of Sarah Palin!

Yes, her and Bush are the only two people that can be quoted word for word and it comes across as mockery. They do it to themselves really. Even Quayle wasn't quite that bad.

I mock her and laugh AT her because she is a hypocrite. A totally hot one, but a hypocrite none the less.

I like what I heard on the radio a few weeks ago when Stanford was busted. The American people can forgive a thief, and adulterer and even a liar, but not a hypocrite. I think that applies to both sides of the aisle. Where were you when the late night TV hosts were bashing Gov Spitzer and Blagolovich? I was laughing along with them and pointing out the hypocrisy of these jokers.

I say Moonshadow said it very well, except that her as a choice for VP was an insult to women everywhere. To think that she was more qualified than any other woman in the GOP is foolish. I really think that the GOP figured they had a beauty star who was an unknown and really didn't look into her background too much. Also her foolish and misleading statements like "I told them no-thanks on that bridge to nowhere" made her look the fool. Only because she didn't end the sentence with ..but I took the money, duh!.

To think that you can do this to a governor's speech...... Denny Crane !

Shatner has the kind of varied, long, interesting career I wish I had... and never seems to take himself seriously (except for those times when they beam down to the planet and the red-shirted security guy meets a nefarious end).

I'm a big fan. :D

... and for those keeping track, this thread is an example of "just arguing" as opposed to a "constructive argument." It's a comedy skit. Sheesh.. nice Dan Quayle reference though. At least that former VP isn't jetting around the world striving to be the next James Bond villain directing his "laser beam" on every carbon emitting device in the U. S. of A.

:D
