I could have easily put this in the Fun forum. A Brazilian environmental group has created a campaign that suggests peeing while showering in order to save that one flush.

See an article plus the video at walletpop (http://www.walletpop.com/blog/2009/08/07/save-water-and-money-the-brazilian-way-pee-in-the-shower/) or just the video at youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZ_DNc1zbxI)

Wireless urinals are also a good idea.

If we start promoting urinating in the shower, I will not be showering at health clubs.

Why not, you are in the shower anyway it is not like you can not just rinse your feet off or that the water is not rinsing the urine down the drain. Also urine cures atheletes foot.

I do not really save it for the shower, but I do go while in the shower, if I have to go and I am about to take a shower I will not use the toilet. I almost cannot not pee while there, the water hits me and I have to go.

I'd suggest showering with a partner to save water.

In that case, peeing would not be advisable ...

Why not to be naked..Then you need not to wash clothes with water.

True, why not change clothes while in the shower and wash your laundry as you wash yourself? Heck, in some of the gyms that I have been to, guys wear their gym clothes in the shower while showering. I suppose the rational behind this is that wearing clothes while taking a shower in a closed curtained private stall is just another layer of protection against 'them'.

I am wondering if those guys who shower in their shorts are going to start peeing in them to save water.

I am glad I wear shower shoes. I still don't want to stand in someone's pee.

I don't blame you for not wanting to stand in it, but urine is sterile - unless a rather sick person has an infection involving the urinary tract.

It is immediately washed away by the water from the shower.

As David77 says, urine is sterile. You probably could not understand that I have many times been barefoot in public toilets. I haven't that abhorrence to the natural and sterile human waste that you obviously have.

Wasn't there a 'Seinfeld' episode about this? George got scolded by someone for peeing in the shower at his health club.

Now, after all these years Costanza is vindicated!

A problem at one gym that I went (past) to was that a certain guy or guy(s) would poop in the shower stall. They never did find out exactly who was responsible as the problem suddenly stopped but this just goes to show what some will do to conserve water.

I might be one of those guys who no longer showers at the club if I went to your club.

Hey, never criticize a man until you've walked a mile in his pee.

I think that's how the saying goes, isn't it?

Sign in a bathroom during a severe drought...

If it's yellow let it mellow.
If it's brown flush it down.

Naturist Mark, is a wife or Gf really going to mind you peeing in the shower? Mine pee's and knows I do as well. She jokingly accusses me of peeing on her leg,ha.But with that said, she too knows that the pee,or at least mine, is harmless.

Interestingly enough, I ran across an article on a plant based water purification system for you shower. (http://www.designboom.com/weblog/cat/16/view/7234/jun-yasumoto-phyto-purification-bathroom.html) It's only in the developmental stages, and honestly I can't see it being effective in a household. Though in a naturist resort setting this I could working. Use a greenhouse as the club bath house!

walter: "I might be one of those guys who no longer showers at the club if I went to your club"

walt, how would you know if someone did or did not pee in the shower? In the middle of a shower with the water running, everything goes down the drain anyway. You should be more concerned about the cleanliness of the shower post shower. Look for mold or other discolorations on the floor or walls. They will do you more harm than someone urinating in the shower.

Why not?
My wife and I have both done it when we have showered together.
