Harriet Harman eyes up naturists’ claim for equality protection (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article6806382.ece)

Let's try this again everyone. Talk about the article and what it means for the future, not going after each other.

This is a very interesting angle to pursue--discrimination. This would be a huge win for naturists if the office agreed with the claim. Does anyone know the history of this office? Will they just go through the motions and rule against the claim or might this be successful?

As much as i would like to see some legal protection for nudism, and i would, this is extremely unlikely to go through any time soon.

This is partly because Harman is a discredited politician in the UK - she is nicknamed "Harman the Harridan" and regarded by many, including those in her own party, as a bit of a nutcase. Secondly, it would require primary legislation, and that process would take too long as a General Election is due within about seven or eight months and, unless it passed through with zero opposition (highly unlikely), it would run out of time. Labour are pretty certain to lose the election, and I simply can't see the Conservatives wanting to pursue this.
