Hello everyone, I'm baaack! I just got back from Florida this past Sunday morning. It was quite nice despite all of the rain and cloudbursts we had almost on a daily basis. But I won't complain because I knew about it before I went there. I also used to live there, specifically in Satellite Beach,Florida. That is right next to the famous Cape! I did see Space Shuttle Discovery launch at nighttime and it was totally awesome! It was unlike anything I have ever seen in my lifetime. They are saying the shuttle program will be winding down, but I have been told that there will be one more night launch down the road. If you are interested in obtaining the launch schedules, you can visit www.kennedyspacecenter.com. I am sure there may be other sites, but this is the one I frequent the most. If you never seen a nighttime launch in person, I personally and highly recommmend it because it will totally take your breath away! It will literally turn the night into daytime! I want to thank everyone for all of your well wishes as I went on my trip. Unfortunately,I didn't get the chance to make it to either Playalinda Beach or Cape Canaveral Seashores. Maybe next time. But I did make it to Cypress Cove briefly to visit the Nudist Research Library, which is on the grounds of the resort. Since I only got a pass from the front gate to the library, I was not allowed to go anywhere else on the grounds. This included the main pool. I had so many things to do and places to go that time simply ran short on me. I did make it to Daytona Beach itself and drove my rental car on the beach. You are legally allowed to do that as long as you follow the speed limit signs(10MPH!) and stay out of the conservatory area. You also have to watch for soft sand so you won't get stuck! Also, you must avoid the swimmers and sunbathers naturally. From there, I drove 50 more miles to St. Augustine. This is the oldest city in the state of Florida. That was quite spectacular in itself! I must of taken at least 10 rolls of 35MM film with my old point-and-shoot camera! A Pentax to be specific. Well, it's good to be back here on the forum. Take care!

Great. Sounds you had a nice time. There is never enough time to do everything you want when you are on a vacation. 10 mph is pretty slow. I always like visiting very old cities & towns for a step back in history. I will take a look at St. Augustine, and your link to Kennedy Space Centre. Have you ever seen the earth at night taken from a satellite? Here is a photo.

I grew up in Pinellas County and remember seeing the Apollo launches. Fake moon landings? I really don't think so. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.
