Hey all
Has there ever been a topic about member's animals?
Might be sort of fun for while.
We have an old very fat ( 17 lb. ) Calico Cat.
She is an outdoor/indoor cat who sleeps on the foot of my bed & doesn't stay out at night & doesn't make any noise.
Of course she wouldn't wake us in case of an emergency but you have to take the bad with the good.
I'm sure there are some who think, what kind of a wuss would own a cat.
The only regret is she isn't a good traveler so we must leave her at home when out of town. Sort of feeling guilty some times.

We just have dogs now. They will wake us up if they hear noise on the street. Many a time they have barked at the paperman tossing the papers out of his car at 5 AM.

One basset hound who comes from my grandmothers kennel, a former show dog who would have done a lot of winning had his teeth not gone askew.
One scottish terrier who the wife and I rescued from an animal shelter.
One cat who my wife got as a kitten from a shelter before we met.

I love animals and they love me. But I prefer to be an aunt, so that the dogs can get walked and scooped up behind, etc. by their parents.
Although I have to see that the best unconditional, fun love I have had in my whole life happened very recently when I was visiting some nudist friends at their farm and they had just had two litters of weimaraner puppies (they breed them for sale). I sat on the ground (with clothes on at this point to avoid too many scratches and bites in all the wrong places) and when the door of the pen opened, I was swarmed by 18 sweet little playful and loving puppies.
That was amazing.

We have a yellow lab/shepherd cross who came to us as a foster puppy at the age of five months in July 2000. I guess she is now adopted. :)
Two bengal cats, one silver male and one brown female, both spotted and saucy. They came to us in August 2005 after our tabby died of a heart problem. They definitely livened up the place! :p

In my home, we have 3 cats (4 until last week...), and 2 dogs. All of our cats are rescued. 3 of them were found at animal shelters, and 1 we found in a garbage bin outside of a housing complex. That one we watched for a couple days to make sure that she didn't have a home there before taking her to our home.
As for the dogs, 1 was adopted at about 8 weeks old from a local family who's dog had just had a litter, and I'm not entirely sure where we got the other from, since that one was my wife's before I met her.
I gotta say, there's nothing better than knowing your loved unconditionally by a pet.

You lucky dog (pun intended) being swarmed by all of those puppies. What an experience!

I grew up on a farm and have been around animals my whole life. Now though, at home instead of horses and cows I have a cat and a dog one of each. As I type this the cat is rubbing herself on my leg to get attention. I love them both somethimes I think they are better companions than some people. Both are spoiled rotten the cat has me trained she jumps up on my bed as soon as the alarm goes off and pesters me until I get out of bed. The dog is more my sons than mine she sleeps with him and has been known to crawl under the covers during a thunderstorm.
