So do we have any Google Wave users out here?
If so post your Wave address so we can try it out!

ok I'm behind the times...what is a google wave?
Kind of like a chat that stays as an open email and allows many users to comment at the same time. Hard to explain but if you do a search on it they will show some screen shots that can give a better idea.
Currently you have to get an invite from someone to get it which I have; only problem is you need to connect with others that have it to do anything.

:)
I get emails from people that live about 4 miles from me. I don't know why they don't just call?
I like vocal communication, so I give them a call. Plus I can't type with more then 2 fingers. :writing: So it's just simpler that way (for me) . :)

I have trouble typing too, but I do use both hands. I email and talk on the phone, both land and cell; however, I do not text or tweet or twitter or twingle or whatever it is called. I guess I'm just stubborn!!

Well we have something in common. I don't do "tweet or twitter or twingle or whatever it is called". That made me laugh. I don't understand twitter or facebook and the upteen others out there. Maybe it's our age?
Plus here's the kicker - I don't even own a cellphone. :)

Lol, thanks for the giggle. You all made me laugh.
New technology is here to support our life and hopefully to make life more convenient. Everyone can use or joint google wave. It has been made to be user friendly. You don't need to know lync or java etc. If you can type, you can wave. As simple as that. But you need to be invited first. The program is pretty new (1.5 years research and published in 2009).
Google wave is very similar to a regular chatting but more like a colaborative one; meaning everyone can contribute to the chatting anytime and any where during the chatting. You can respond back to the beginning of the chatting even though you came late in joining the chatting. You will be able to play back the chatting record and see from the beginning. You can download files / pictures and connect to any links. AND it has spelling check!
But I agree with you all that nowdays technology is too much emphasize on tools rather than the content itself. We are taught how to use calculator more than how to calculate numbers. Without calculator we don't know how to add, time or divide numbers. We are taught how to use google wave for chatting, but we seldom are taught how to talk properly to one another.

Yes, it is our age. We still like to talk to each other verbally. I do have a cellphone, but it is off most of the time. That power button is one of our greatest inventions. It is there when I need it, but for the most part, I do not want to be that connected all the time.
I do however, now have a facebook account. Since my kids, neices, and nephews use it a lot, it lets me keep up with what is happening in their lives. What I don't get is the constant updates like " going to the store now", or "going to take the trash out now."
Monday night on the local news was a story about texting. The reporter interviewed some high school and collage students. Everyone she talked to said they would rather text than talk to the other person. And they spend hours at a time texting each other. I find that fact very sad.
While all this technology; cellphones, computers, texting, twitter, tweet, etc...; has us more connected with each other than ever before, it has at the same time, made our communication less personal.
Send me a text when you have time to talk about it!
