I'd like to see this evolve into a mini-series within the comic.
That's the only way to get ALL of your clothes washed.
As an afterthought, I checked the Courier & Press here in Evansville, and they didn't print it.

Applause to the artist for taking a "risk" in an unusual way. Funny thing about the Funnies... People read them every day like clockwork and I bet the hardcore Hi and Lois fans will snicker rather than take offense as some tightbutts might who never read the family strip daily may

Do you know if they refused to print the comic strip specifically due to its subject matter, or for some other reason? - joe

I love the fact that they writer stopped with the question. This allows everyone to think about it and have their own answer.

I like the fact that Lois didn't yell at him and go running back up the stairs with her eyes covered! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shout.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smash.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/embarassed.gif

Eh? Does wearing undershorts = nudism?
(Observe the color of his left hip, behind the guitar.)

I think the cartoonist meant for the boy to be perceived as nude, otherwise there is no need for the guitar to be there at all. Perhaps the lighter color of his buttock is was intentional as most non-nudists do not have that "all-over" tan. Or maybe some newspapers removed the natural skin tone to soften the impact. Or since most comic strips are colored in by someone other than the cartoonist, it could just be an oversight. I have seen nudity in the Hi and Lois strip before, so I know that the author has a healthy attitude about family nudism. The boy is an early teen, and the fact that his mother did not react negatively to her son being nude indicates that the author is using humor to convey a message to the readers, most of which are not nudists. Bravo!

Actually, I don't think they regularly subscribe to the Hi and Lois strip in general. I don't think it has anything to do with the content of the one strip.
