Barebum - Great photo collection.

Being from Canada have never had the opportunity to visit the Canaries and have a couple of questions.

1. When is it warm enough to be naked all day. My wife and I were thinking of going in April next year and don't want to go there and find it is too cold to be naked.

2. Where did you stay and would you recommend it or were there other places that you would choose next time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Having lived in the Canary Islands for a couple of years, I can recommend any time of the year as being warm enough for a Canadian to visit. The evenings may cool off a bit, but I think you can handle it.

thanks for sharing your pictures, there is nothing better than looking at photos of someone enjoying the sun, and then looking out of my window and seeing a covering of snow on the ground, just to remind you that winter is not over yet!!!

Great pictures, thanks for sharing.
What was the name of the resort / complex would it be suitable for someone who has walking difficulties? ie a disabled person?
Good to see you had a nice time.

I stayed in an all male clothing optional complex, and yes it was all on one level, Called Los Almendros, 15 to 20 minute walk to naturist beach, but bit hilly in places. Other naturist complex's available I think!

Hi Guys did hear of naturist bungalows at Magnolias for around 70m euros a night down to 55 euros later in year. That is price for two peopel in a bungalow. See link for more details http://www.canariasnatura.com/contact.html Not sure what flight prices would be depends where flying from I suppose!

I also love the canary islands, my first taste of public naturism was on the clothing optional beach at maspalomas on gran canaria a few years ago and since then I have made many naturist friends and always try to choose a holiday location near to naturist beaches and with the canary's you know there will always be one not too far away, last november we stayed in playa blanca lanzarote which is near to the gorgeous papagayo beaches and spent many days soaking up the sun and swimming in the crystal clear sea, and we have booked to go back at the end may this year.

I was there on Maspalomas / Playa del Ingles beach last year and had my first nude experience. After all, everyone else was starkers so it seemed the most natural thing to do. How does this beach compare with the one in Lanzarote? Which one do you prefer?

Hiyah Campbell,
The two are very different in that Maspalomas is one very long beach with the large area of dunes and is quite commercialized with bars/sunbeds etc, but the papagayo beaches of which there are 6 large coves and are part of a national park and are very unspoilt with hardly any facilities at all.

If I have to pick one I probably prefer the lanzarote papagayo beaches because the beaches are stunning, the sea is crystel clear for snorkeling and also the atmosphere is very relaxed.

if you have not seen the papagayo beaches do a google search and you will see what I mean about them.

I had a look on Google re Papagayo. Looks good, but where do you recommend to stay, and are the beaches easy to get to?

Campbell,
We are staying at the sun beach apartments in playa blanca which is about half an hour to 40 minutes walk from the papagayo beaches, its a really nice walk along the sea front past the marina and then along the top of the cliffs and then just past the papagayo arena hotel, or you can get a taxi from playa blanca for about 4 euro's each way to the arena hotel and then a short walk over the hill to the first beach which is called playa Mujeres, playa blanca is a lovely resort with loads of good bars and restaraunts and it not full of noisy disco type bars and rowdy crowds so if you want that you might choose peurto del carmen but then you are a fair drive away for the papagayo beaches, we stayed at the sun beach apartments in november and have booked again for the end of may so you could say we really like the place, we are hoping to hire a car get to chaco de palo( spelling???) this time for a day or 3.

Yes this is a great naturist resort rather rocky but great when wind gets up as you get sand blasted at beach then. Can walk miles naked on costal paths!

Can be naked anywhere in village which was nice, but do need hire car to get there!

Hiyah barebum,
We hired a car for 3 days in may last year when we stayed in matagorda and we did a tour of the island but was just mostly general sight seeing, we had my sister and her hubby with us so the only naturist time we got was at papagayo for one day and the beach near arricife airport a couple of times, was funny coz one day my sister saw me sunbathing on hotel balcony nude and took a photo and then ribbed me about how she was gonna show all the family ( like I was bothered) but when she went to papagayo with us in the hire car and the beach was full of naturists which she was not too bothered about but when I went swimming naked and then came back to lie on my towel she acted all weird about how she had not seen me like that since she used to bath me when I was a kid and she did not want to see me nude now, but was an act coz she soon got over it, but she declined to join me,

anyway but back to charco del palo we are hoping to get there this coming May for day trips. did you stay there or visit for the day ??.

Steve.

I have just returned from Lanzarote where I stayed at the Arena Papagayo which is located alongside the national park containing the beautiful Papagayo beaches. A 20 minutes walk across rough terrain takes you down to the first beach, and a further 20 minutes to the second which seemed to be the one for naturists. Some mornings I found the beach deserted, and a nude stroll along the seaside shore was an amazing experience! Even when people arrived, the beach was never crowded. Hope to go back some day.
