As if you actually new such a place existed. /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

According to The Kansas State eCollegian, http://www.kstatecollegian.com/stories/112403/new_nudity.shtml
this small town has enacted an ordinance to specifically make illegal adult businesses, but the wording of it makes for interesting reading. From what I read of it on the site, it seems that erections are also illegal, even if they are covered. They also had to define a person as being alive, so thankfuklly, corpses do not count in this ordinance.

Here is the abriged ordinance according to the website:

"It shall be unlawfulfor any person to knowingly, intentionally or recklessly, appear in a state of nudity in a public place." Nudity is defined as "less than completely or opaquely covering and exposing to view: (1) Human male or female genitals; or (2) Any portion of the anal cleft or cleavage of the male or female buttocks..." Nudity also applies to female breasts and "human male genitals in a turgid state, even if completely and opaquely covered." A person is defined as a live human 10 years or older. A public place is defined as "any location frequented by the public, or where the public is present or likely to be present..."

I think you interpreted that right, Bob. What a bunch of idiots.

I keep a dictionary handy to look up words I've never heard of before--like turgid. Some of our members apparently are better educated than I am, or they're trying to impress the rest of us. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Don't take your Viagra before going to church. Otherwise, you'll be arrested.

Jon-Marc, I had to go to an online dictionary to find out what it meant myself. I've never seen this word before.

I think it just shows how odd it can get when someone tries to control others.

I hate to admit it, but I lived in Kansas fo five long years and I have never seen a state so screwed up when it comes to their laws. It seems as if the entire legal system is set up to remove as many personal freedoms as possible.

You ought to see Texas sometime. Or maybe you shouldn't now that I think about it. Talk about a screwed up state.

I hear Arkansas is bad for naturist rights. Can anybody here confirm that?

NuTex, Texas is VERY open to nudism...especially compared to Arkansas! Arkansas law says that seeing anyone nude other than your spouse or patient (if you are a doctor) is illegal, and being seen nude by anyone other than your spouse or doctor is illegal! Yet, here in Texarkana, which side of town has all the porn shops and adult books in the gas stations? the ARKANSAS side! Hmmmm, coicidence?

Go here to see all of the state laws (you'll have to go through a couple extra clicks, but this will also give you the chance to see Canadian laws as well).
http://www.nac.oshkosh.net/StatesProvincesTerritories/states.html

The term "nudism" as used in this section is defined to be the act
or acts of a person or persons congregating or gathering with his, her,
or their private parts exposed in the presence of one (1) or more
persons of the opposite sex as a form of social practice.
...
It shall be unlawful for any person, club, camp, corporation,
partnership, association, or organization to advocate, demonstrate, or
promote nudism, or for any person to rent, lease, or otherwise permit
his land, premises, or buildings to be used for the purpose of
advocating, demonstrating, or promoting nudism

That is Arkansas' law against nudism. Very strict. Can't even advocate it. Sad.

Can't make it illegal for someone to advocate, period. Clearest possible violation of the first amendment you could have. Is anyone going to challenge them on this?

That's what I thought about Arkansas. Amazing, a state more backwords that Texas. That really takes effort, trust me.

I hope someday someone will confront Arkansas in the courts. /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Yes, it is unconstitutional. And I also wonder who is going to be the first to challenge it. I am still waiting to hear more from the Arkansas Taco Bell guy (see the thread "Indecent non-nudity in Arkansas" in this forum or go to the addy: http://www.clothesfree.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=6;t=000097 )

I would not suggest reading through all of it. It does go way off topic.

And I know about Hippie Hollow in Texas. I still cannot believe that was upheld in court. I guess the government of Texas just prefers to have pervs there rarther than children. Oh well, you won't ever see me set foot on that beach until the law has changed.

It would be nice if the off-topic junk got deleted from that thread. The serious posts make good reading for anyone who hasn't seen them before.
