While we were down in the Greater Orlando area last week. My wife agreed to at least take a tour of Cypresscove. From the time we entered, the staff were great. They gave us a great tour. I felt relaxed and was ready to stay. But my wife was still unsure. Hopefully next year we will stay. Just taking baby steps for now. Thanks again Cypresscove, hope to see you next year.

Cypress Cove has every element a great resort should have....and better yet, they put them together right, without compromising the principles of nudism.

When we are down in the Orlando area, Cypress is were we stay. Just the best place to stay and relax. We love it.

A visit to Cypress Cove is a must for any nudist living in or visiting the Orlando area. I introduced my g/f to Cypress Cove and she felt comfortable immediately. It is the perfect setting for those new to nudism as well as seasoned nudists.

I e-mailed Cypress Cove to inquire if they admitted unaccompanied males (TNS member). I received a response stating I would be welcome anytime. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif I checked Trip Advisor and found some pro's & con's which is to be expected.

Does anyone know if there is any mass transportation to CC from Orlando Airport or do you suggest renting a car? I doubt that I would use the vehicle except for transportation to and from the airport. When I visited Paradise Lakes there was a shuttle that ran between Tampa Airport and the resort which was convenient.

Call the resort -- BUT -- a car makes things VERY convenient. There are also some neat things not too far from the Cove to try out... a few great restaurants off the grounds, downtown Kissimmee (old Kissimmee) is pretty neat, and there is Disney....

There are also airboat rides in the area behind Cypress Cove.... but you also don't have to leave the Cove if you don't want to...

Oh yeah - one thing mrs lurk and I do, I make sure I get an appointment for a haircut and she has her hair done at Nature's Way (Carol's) on the grounds.

Yes, they are singles friendly as long as you have a membership in one of the major orgs. I was told I was welcome as a solo married person - but on the other hand, my wife was with me when they gave me the ok, so...

My wife and I both LOVE Cypress Cove.

I once took a cab from the airport to the cove. I informed the cab driver that it was a nudist resort, and she had no problem with taking me, so, a cab is another option.

I would think the cab fare + tip would greatly exceed the cost of a rental car -- especially if you already have compulsory insurance and CDW (platinum credit card). Check with your car insurance company for your own coverage and also your credit card company regarding collision damage waiver. Most "Gold Cards" have CDW.

If you are looking to rent a car. Do a search for Florida car rental discount codes. I found one before we went down there. I used it with Thrifty and saved almost 50%. Also it pays to reserve a car ahead of time. Then just pick it up when you get there.

I've been a member of the "Cove" for over a decade. I've been to almost every nudist resort in Central Fl. None can compare!! If anyone is visiting the Orlando area, plan to visit there. You won't be disappointed.

I first visited The Cove with my wife on an exploratory visit (didn't last more than three hours - she is not interested in social nudism). She had to return home a few days later and I was staying in Central Florida for work. I phoned the resort and explained that I had a free day, had been there two days prior with my wife and would like return alone. I was welcomed. Seems that I established my bonafides by visiting with my wife the first time.

I have returned several times alone, each time verifying acceptance of a single male. I was told that a large portion of their business relies on single nudists (both genders) - this by the owner himself. I always try to make myself unobtrusive, and keep mostly to myself. But I am almost always greeted by the other guests warmly. Questions like "how come you are sitting by yourself?" when I sit in Cheeks enjoying a beer or "glass" of wine.

I do note just an edge from one or two of the staff - mostly when I check in - like they are don't expect an unaccompanied male. But that is very transitory.

As to transportation to the resort, it is a fair distance from the Orlando airport. A rental is the best way. I usually take the Central Florida Greenway - tolls but much quicker than the OBT or looping out to I4 down to 192 and down Poinciana Blvd.

I have an opportunity to spend 2 full days in Orlando in late February 2008. Does anyone know what I could expect for weather there? Would it be worth the trip? Thanks.

The weather almanac for Kissimmee for February shows temps in the low-70s during the day, 50s at night. Records in the mid-80s for highs, 30s for lows.

We are visiting Cypress Cove ourselves later this month (24th-30th), getting the ball rolling on buying a home at the Cove and moving there to live full-time by July if all works out.

Enjoy your visit!

Thanks NoCollarWorker...living there would be awesome. The last time I was there I walked around part of the residential area and was very impressed with how nice the houses were and how beautiful the grounds were kept. We will probably go in late February although I had hoped it would be warmer than the averages you show. I am so anxious to get somewhere warm as I live in the midwest and can't wait for summer.

Probably you should check to see if Cypress Cove has a van that meets attendees at the airport.

We live in Atlantic Canada and hope to visit CC this winter. Having not been there before we are wondering if there is lots of space to go for long walks within the resort. We love walking/hiking au naturel and want to know if CC is large enough that we could go for a 30 minute walk without feeling like we are going in circles. Also, are there boat rentals available for the lake and does anyone swim in it in February? Any info much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Atlantic Canadians (bluenosers?). We are in the opposite end of Canada - Vancouver Island and like you we are making our first visit to Cypress Cove in late February. Very interested in reading the responses that your post brings. We also like to hike nude. I understand that there is a gym there with a small fee - Does anyone know just how much this fee is?

Hoping the mid February the weather will be kind to us who prefer our birthday suits

Cypress Cove is a great resort and highly recommended. I have been there 3 times with a friend.

Friendly and helpful staff, spacious grounds, rooms are clean and comfortable.

We had a good and relaxing time. It is especially great b/c we were able to do our morning run in the nude around the resort.

For the younger nudist, it is a great resort as there is a young crowd during peak season (summer holidays).

My only complaint is the food. It isn't the most healthy or appetizing. I do recommend breakfast in the morning but lunch/dinner isn't the best. On my first visit, my friend and I ate at Cheeks and Lakeside. Not only was it expensive but we found that we were better off eating outside of the resort or making our own food.

I have suggested that the resort invest in a trained chef for their restaurants rather than cooks who do not have actual chef/cook training. I think it would be great for the resort and an even better sell.

If you are on budget or not impressed with CC's food, I highly recommend renting a room with a kitchen, do your own food shopping and you can cook your own meals. We did this on our 2nd and 3rd trip and it worked out perfectly. Not only did it cut down on cost but we were able to eat more healthier meals.

What I love about CC is that it is NOT a clothing optional resort. In fact, it is written in the bylaws that visitors must be nude unless there is a good reason were being nude may not be permitted (i.e. cold weather, on period). My friend and I did find this to be of some confusion. On few occasions we ate that the Lakeside restaurant and we were the only nude people. It was bit uncomfortable and embarrassing despite the fact that there are no rules against nudity. Other times we see people somewhat dressed throughout the resort. Despite the mandatory nudity rule, doesn't seem it is all that enforced.

Overall, CC is a great place and I would highly recommend.

I am thinking about a trip to Paradise Lake later in the year.

Croydon, thanks for all the great information about CC. When you say you go for a run, how long of a run can you go on without running in circles. Would like to be able to walk 3 miles without just going in circles.

Yasehtor: There is plenty of room at Cypress Cove for a good long run/walk. Please look at the map on the website, there is residential and camping areas...you will not feel like you are running in circles. I did not think the cost or quality of the food was bad. I totally enjoyed the two times we visited there and can't wait to return. I think I will wait a little while to let it warm up down there, though.

Not to mention they have a fitness center where you can workout in the nude

Jasz started this thread with his story about visiting Cypress Cove with his wife so that she could see the facilities and perhaps allay some of her anxieties about staying at a nudist resort. My wife, too, was reluctant when we first visited the Cove several years ago, but she relaxed very quickly when she saw the nice facilities and realized how friendly everyone was to her. We have been back many times and we spend all of our time in the nude pool areas. She has also come to love the hair and nail boutique and the massage area. I hope that your wife will give it one more try this year.

We are about 10 days away from spending a long weekend at Cypress Cove. We intend to take a day and go to Apollo Beach. Is anyone out there that can make some comments on weather, what to do, is the beach worth going to, stuff like that. Can we expect Cypress Cove to be very crowded this time of year? Any comments would be apprecitated.

I spent a week at Cypress Cove in October 2001... it was awesome! It's unfortunate that I have not had the opportunity to return... :(

NoCollarWorker

The Cove will be quiet during the week this time of year, busier on the weekend. The RV park will be filled with snowbirds, and the motel will probably not be full. Expect a nice crowd around the pool on the weekends, fewer folks during the week, but still plenty of nice people around to meet and enjoy.

You will have a great time. The weather will be fine for sunning during the day unless it is cloudy. Cooler at night, but still warm enough to go nude if you like, maybe with a t-shirt or pareo at most.

Enjoy your visit!

Probably not VERY crowded but it will have a degree of busy on the weekends. Weather? Probably sunny, 80s. Things to do?

On the grounds -

- you can get a haircut, hairstyle, nails done, etc. at the salon or get a massage (reasonable fees)
- workout in the gym (nominal fee required)
- have a brew or drink at Cheeks (cheap - and the bar staff is great)
- visit the American Nudist Research Library (open some days)
- go to a dance on Saturday and another one on Monday
- dine at Lakeside
- dine at Cheeks
- take a paddleboat around the lake
- tennis
- petanque

Off the grounds -

- Disney is around 25 minutes away, straight up Poinciana Boulevard
- Sea World is up that way
- Cypress Gardens is around an hour away in Winter Haven
- Route 192 with chain restaurants, tourist traps, etc.
- the Kennedy Space Center is around an hour away in Titusville
- Playalinda Beach is also out by the Space Center
- Golf

If I remember right, you get car rental discounts as a member of AANR. I know you do as a AAA member.

And jasz is right, reserve the car well in advance. If they don't have one for you when you get there (which can happen even with a reservation), then you can ask them to help you find another rental agency that has one available that you can rent. They don't have to, but you can raise a stink if you had a reservation and they don't help you. If you didn't have a reservation, then you're just out of luck and probably waited in a very long line at the airport for nothing.

Have fun and stay nude!

Just a quick report on my recent trip. Cypress Cove was great as usual! Weekend was rather chilly, so that was a bummer, but the place is so big and clean and we really enjoyed eating at the Lakeside Restaurant and Cheeks. I love a big nude crowd and there wasn't a whole lot of people out because of the weather. There was one kind of weird guy that hung around the hot tubs with a cooler full of beer, but other than that...it was great! We did go to Apollo Beach, but lot #5 was closed because of the shuttle launch and we parked at #4 and couldn't even make it down to #5...too far! It was too cold to get nude, but we wanted to check it out. Parking is so limited and it is so far from Cypress Cove that we probably will not try it again. If you get a chance to visit Cypress Cove...you will not be sorry!

What is special about lot 5 at Apollo Beach?

If I recall correctly, Lot 5 is the parking lot that is next to the clothing optional section of Apollo Beach. Unfortunately, even when it is open it has very few spaces so one must arrive early.

We are members of Cypress Cove and Paradise Lakes. We love visiting the Cove and will be there April 24-27. The people are wonderful and it has top notch facilities. You could not go to a better resort for a first time experience. Cypress Cove and Paradise Lakes are our favorite clubs. We have friends at both clubs. Oneday in the future one of them will become our permanat home. Most likely Cypress Cove. We just like the size and love the lake views so much. We also like Disney and City Walk and would be much closer to them.

Well we hope to live there in the future. Maybe within ten years. Just cannot right now due to caring for mother who lives with us. The plan is to live at Cypress or another resort and still work on the outside. Dress maybe 50 hours a week, and be nude the rest of the time. If you live at a place like Cypress Cove, there is so much to do there, you never have to leave. Our social world would be within the resort. plus the people there and employees are some of the nicest you could ever meet.
