Were I live it is a several hour drive and/or a non landed orginization for swims, vollyball etc. How many of us have to 'risk' being naked in a non naked area, park, pool, hiking trail, beach? I went this am and I know I was seen, however they were nice enough to say nothing, however I am concerned with legal issues when being caught

yea - i went to local state park one time. just had to be nude. while wife watched for oncoming people,i did manage to walk a few feet before i had to put on pants. i have since found local lodges and visit them often. don't want to take the chance of getting caught in the textile world. this winter i'll go back to home nudity as the closest lodge closes then. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

I've made several trips to a local park and ran into some people one time, before I knew the layout of the park well enough.

Not to mention, I always look for cars, to be sure not to offend, but the people had apparently WALKED from home to the park.

Anyway, nothing came of it, so I am more careful now.

I go nude in public a lot, but choose locations and times when there will be few, if any, people.

A key consideration is the state/province/country in which you live. I live in Ontario, where both the law and the people are pretty tolerant of public nudity.

However, in some U.S. states, you can be charged as a sexual offender just for being nude in public. You need to know the law.

It's best to be very cautious at first, and then broaden the scope of your public nudity as you gain more confidence.

I have quite a few non-legal nude area's I go to that are fairly private, as there are no resorts within a three hour drive. I too am concerned of whats going to happen if caught, but hope not to have to find out and spoil my fun, but I am fairly careful and confident I am not likely to be caught or in any real trouble if caught in the places I venture to.

I'm pretty sure I live in one of those states where being nude is a "Sexual offence".

I have gone skinny dipping now and then in secluded areas. And even a few strolls along remote trails.
I've had a few "close calls" like the time I was skinny dipping and 8 high school students (4boys,4girls)showed up.
If they hadn't been so noisy as they approached I would have been caught for sure, and who knows what charges I might have faced. As it turned out, I'm pretty sure they didn't see me untill after I had my shorts back on. Atleast they didn't make any comments about seeing me nude.
In this era of Cell Phones I'm just afraid the cops could be there before I even knew anyone had seen me.
I have plenty of nude time at home so it's not really worth the risk for me anymore.

I've done plenty of nude hiking in places where it's not legal, but I'm careful to go very early in the morning, and use trails which are seldom used, and that I know well. I used to take a late afternoon hike on one trail which I was quite confident on...only to run into two groups of people just minutes after I had gotten dressed, so I either go at sunrise, or not at all now. It's not worth the risk.

I've also done quite a bit of free hiking and camping and skinny dipping and visits to clothing optional hotsprings on public land.

I belong to a non-landed club called the Camping Bares of San Diego and we have done quite a bit of this as a group. We have had a few run ins with the law but I would say 90% of the time we have no problems. We have gone canuding on the Colorado nude house boating on lake Powell tons of trips to hotsprings and remote camping areas in national forests and such.

In my experience the more remote the location in other words the farther you are from a road or a parking lot the better your chances of (a) not being seen in the first place and (b) if you are seen the person will generally be understanding or at least not freak out about it. It also helps if you can be part of a group and even better if that group includes one or two female members even if they are not nude. I don't know why but somehow by their mere presence they can usually dispell the notion that we are up to no good.

You never know though and the trend lately has been to over react to mere nudity like we are some sort of sex perverts or something. I would just say to know the laws in your area and also know the location you are going to and surrounding area before you strip off. Goodluck

I lay my bikini top down friday night at a place i took my boys camping.....it was wet and there was a storm moving in so i wanted to see what it felt like, not much risk of being seen and i dont think a federal case would have been made.

I thought that I was very careful, no cars in parking lot when I went in, apparently that was the key, as when I left there were 3. I thought the park was seldom used, as recommended by some fellows on a local group.
I will be more careful from now on as it is not worth the risk with the current focus

There seem to be two schools of thought. (At least)
1. Those who seem to enjoy narrowly escaping detection.
2. Those who seek solitude for undisturbed nudity.

I fall into the second camp.

Trailscout, thanks for the Monty Python link. I certainly wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Most everyone had retired into their trailers and 5th wheels for the night plus we were way back from the main camping spots due to the lady going ahead and letting us park where we were on the promise that we would leave early for the boat race set ups. And kind of down an incline anyway.

I go camping in a state park that is very popular, have found that early in the morningsor late in the evening before the sun goes down is the time to stroll without distrubing others

Occasionally, I'll water the plants infront of the house late at night. Other than this I only go to designated areas.

I have done some freehiking in non-nude areas and hope to do more. There just are no designated nude areas near where I live.

This has been a valuable website for information.

So, in addition to information already mentioned above, I-
Go during the day in May, June, September, or October to avoid people on vacation or kids. The kids are at school in these months. If you are fortunate to live in a climate where the winter months are warm, you can add these to the list-avoiding spring and Christmas breaks.

Go in rainy weather, if the rain is warm.
Other people tend to stay home when it rains.
The rain creates greats opportunity for nudists.

Go in the middle of the week.
This avoids meeting people who are off work (or playing hooky) during the period of Friday-Monday.

Good luck!

I don't know how to make links to other posts, so at the risk of repeating myself, here's another post I put to Naturist Gary's thread on a similar topic:

On a lark, I snuck away from work yesterday and headed for Lake Erie. I haven't been down there yet this year, it was a gorgeous day and the boss was away, so everything was just right.

This is a long stretch of remote shoreline that is accessible only on foot for boat and has a reputation as a c/o area. (Mark has written about this spot a number of times).

Not seeing anyone fishing, I immediately stripped off and resolved that anyone out there was going to most likely be accepting of nudity.

About a mile out there were two rubber boats with 2 couples some 100 yards off shore - just kept hiking without so much as a flinch to covering up! No reaction, but it looked like the guys were nude.

Another 1/2 mile along I spotted a guy sitting on a large chunk of driftwood - couldn't see him as he was on the other side of the tree, but still elected to no coverup. Finally got close enough and lo and behold: he and another sunbather were stark raving nude! They said they had debated all along my walk up whether I was nude or not - of course I had the same uniform as they did Wink.

We chatted a bit and then it was time to keep going ... they had packed up and started back about 10 minutes before I did from further along the beach. I did notice they put their shorts on as they approached the spot that fishers normally hangout.

The 2 couples were still out there in the lake and one of the men gave a friendly wave as I passed by. Obviously no troubles there eh(?) (that's a little Canadian-speak ).

I stayed nude right out to within 40 feet of the car - another car in the lot had a guy sitting in it, and it turned out to NOT be one of the 2 from the beach. Frowner

Downside: since I had put my beach shoes in the van for a trip to Jersey/Gunnison, I didn't have them for the Lake Erie outing - luckily I have toughened my feet to the point that it was only occassionally uncomfortable, but VERY distracting in having to watch nearly every single step.

What a fabulous day that was much more relaxing with a more relaxed attitude about others and not covering up!

Keep it up Gary, and keep sharing your experiences!!!

There is a tract of national grasslands that is an hour's drive from my home. I have hiked there, nude, many times and have almost never encountered anyone. I say 'almost' because once I did encounter two entomologists who were collecting insects for identification. The entomologists were women, in their thirties I suppose, and they didn't respond negatively at all, just a little surprise at first. I stayed nude and chatted with them for a few minutes and then went on my merry way. In about two dozen visits to that place, that was the only encounter I've ever had. I was only slightly nervous about being nude in their presence, but I got over that in no time and was perfectly comfortable with them for the rest of the visit. So, being nude in a public place (was that place public?) didn't bother me at all.
