Deal Collins who plays Mike, the youngest son on FOX's The War Home was naked on last night's eposide.

Dave (father) walks into Mike’s room and discovers him doing his homework in the nude. He complains to Vicky, who thinks it’s great that Mike’s so comfortable in his skin

Later at night, we seem walk down to the kitchen naked getting a drink of water. His father is their and again he says he's very comformatable naked

At the end, Mike’s still walking around naked, so Dave decides to free himself from the confines of clothing as well. When Mike sees his dad lounging on the couch nude, he vows to put on clothes and feel uncomfortable in his skin and ashamed of his body forever more

Hi Davin,

Yes I saw that last night. At first It looked like a "Positive" attitude toward nudity. I thought maybe the rest of the family would join in. At the end I was disappointed how the kid was ashamed when his dad was nude. Me and my guy were nude watching the show and were happy until the end.

Jackie, I have been wondering what happened to you since you haven't posted for a long time. A few people here have views similar to my own, you being one of them. Good to hear from you again.

Neither did I see the show. Wish I had. It's a bummer to know the show ended that way. It seems the entertainment industry wants to keep the message that nudity is for sex only.

I sort of feel they were poking fun at how immature this country is towards nudity. The last scene also showed the father running upstairs, happy to be naked with his arms whaling about and such. Just my opinion.

Its a comedy people. The show wasn't trying to prove a point or make a message. It was going strictly for laughs (and ratings).

The real take away message was that nudity is not so serious that we can't have some fun with it. That alone makes it successful and a good mainstream media portrayal. No one was particularly concerned with the legalities, morality or the ethics of being nude. After the predictable initial reaction, the father accepted his son's nakedness, and even had some fun with the whole concept by putting his son in the position of the rest of his family (the viewer of, instead of do'er). The son was made to realize the effect that he had had on his family by experiencing the effect his father's nudity had on him. The joke was that 1) there was an effect; 2) that it was awful; and 3) that it was enough to convince both to stop. I thought it was quite funny.

I didn't get to see the episode but having watched in the past I can imagine the laughs that were generated. The last one I saw was the dad getting "porno"in the mail.It was a "Girls Gone Wild"type video and he thought he saw his daughter in it.It was pretty funny. All in all it's a good show that deals with some real if not over exagerated issues. Then again it's a comedy so lighten up.

Comedy eh Pete? And it was "funny" because...? Oh yes it showed how "awful" it is to see someone nude. Truely hilarious.

I think it was funny because it showed how childish and immature everyone was being about nudity. Seems that father and son both enjoyed the comfort of being nude but couldn't get over the BS society has drilled into us about seeing others nude.

I think they should have written his nudist lifestyle into the show itself, not just one episode. Oh well, we are talking about fox you know.

The only way Fox would make anyone in that show a nudist would be if it was the 17 year odl girl Hillary.

If you watch the Youtube clip, you will see that the dad went dancing gleefully like a small child up the stairs. Also, after "agreeing" to his dad's viewpoint, Mike remained nude and shook his head in response to his dad's obvious hipocracy (statements v. gleeful prancing). If I considered the show to be anything more than a farce on the family, I would expect that Mike was going to either continue to push the envelope, or at least find another way/place to enjoy nudity. I would also expect that the father would enjoy nudity in the home while the kids were at school. It was interesting that they chose to not involve any other family members. I wonder how the scene would have played out if Mike had come to the dinner table nude. There would have been a lot of potential humor depending upon what was being served.

You really have to understand the father character to both understand what they're saying and see the humor. Dad's solutions are almost always half-baked and very rarely work, like many sitcom dads.

I view the ending slighy differently. The kid was not ashamed of dad being naked but he is a teenage boy and anything dad does is embarressing. If the son came in with a mohawk haircut and dad fought it by getting his own the son would still be embarressed. I am surprised the hyper-sensitive types aren't raising a stink about minors and nudity.

I saw the link that davin pasted and it was quite a surprising clip because of how unuseual it was to see that on tv and not have the show banned. seemed good until the end. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/rolleyes2.gif

What would have made it even more unusual is if was the daughter who wanted to go naked.

oh man. I didnt see this episode, but i have seen previous ones, and i think the show is funny, but this is disappointing. i guess it will just perpetuate the hollywood idea of nudity being just for sex.

Thanks for posting the UTube clip. I've heard of the episode, but never seen it. Very funny, but I think the Dad goes a little overboard in expressing his 'prudeness' about nudity. I think if the kid wasn't embarrassed by his Dad's nudity, then nudity would be considered on a positive.

In this particular clip, nudity is painted as a negative, in that is isn't okay to parade around naked throughout the house, at least when others are around. There could easily be three or even four more episodes that could be continued on his subject. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif
