I saw some interest in Erin Gray's nudist days in a Diane Webber post, so thought I'd separately post a link to a fan group that has discussed her nudism in the past. Erin is the actress that played Col. Wilma Deering in the "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" TV series, and among other roles, she was also Kate Summers on "Silver Spoons".

I'm glad you mentioned her role in Buck Rogers since the name meant nothing to me otherwise.

The nudist pictures of Erin Gray at 8 or 9 years old are invading her privacy. First, those were family times. Two, you can't say that she willingly agreed to be photographed for later use. Three, they are of a 8 year old girl.
For God's sake, let her grow up, be who she wants to be and leave those pictures alone.

Erin Gray is cool, but unless she wants to be seen naked, especially as a child, I think I'll wait for her to make her own site. I'll be honest it does bug me when I recieve an invtation to view someone elses nude kids, especially by someone outside the family. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Who said anything about the group containing Erin G's nudist pics? I just got back from there, and it's really all about her adult career. Imaginations are running wild...

This is yet ANOTHER reason why nudist parks in North America discontinued "family pageants".
Ms. Gray apparently wants to put that behind her. Let her do so.

Film stars generally like their privacy even if they are nudists.
A friend of mine (no one famous) recently sent me nude photos of herself from her childhood days at a nudist resort. She cheerfully shares them with her family and closest friends. However, she would be deeply embarassed if these photos were posted all over the Internet for gawkers. She is still very comfortable with nudity, but she dreads being in the spotlight. I can imagine the stampede that would result if someone suddenly put up a Web site with a gallery of photos depicting Erin Gray frolicking nude in some lovely garden.
Naturally, I am thrilled every time a beloved celebrity boldly advocates clothes-free living, but Erin has no obligation to release nude photos to the world. She isn't even obligated to go public with her past nor to speak about her current philosophy of life.
She is a stunning beauty and it's not difficult to understand why a lot of guys are hoping that she enjoys nude recreation as much as we do. But if she is secretly still enjoying the nudist life and escaping the unblinking cameras of the pappazzi, I'd be happy for her.

According to the International Movie DataBase (http://www.imdb.com) she has remained involved with TV and movies up to this day:

Interesting fact for scifi fans: She was a finalist for the role of Capt. Janeway on "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995).

A few years back I heard info that Lynn Redgrave use to visit Elyseum with her husband and kids. So emailed her and told her how fantastic I thought that she could be a movie star and open about being a family of nudists. She actually politely emailed back stating that it was her x-husband who was into nudism and she doesn't practice it any more, but she wished me all the happiness in my pursuits.

Jason, all this is pure speculation, but let's assume for the sake of argument that Erin Gray no longer visits nudist resorts. There are all sorts of reasons why someone might confine his or her nudity to the home. Stardom?
Perhaps she never was a nudist, but was simply a child who was taken to a nudist resort by her relatives and did not chose to attend on her own as she grew older and more independent.
There are a handful of actors and actresses who admit to enjoying nude recreation, nude living at home or even confess to being resort-going nudists. I wish there were more who openly advocated our way of life!
At first, I thought Erin Gray was Chauchi's gf on Happy Days, then I saw her pic. Yeah, I remember her from Silver Spoons, Ricky Schroeder...uh, pardon...Rick Schroeder. She was hot then! "The nudist pictures of Erin Gray at 8 or 9 years old are invading her privacy. First, those were family times. Two, you can't say that she willingly agreed to be photographed for later use. Three, they are of a 8 year old girl."
BurntBuns, I will give you the first argument. But then the question becomes how did the pictures surface? Did she give her permission?
Your second argument is correct in that she didn't give her legal permission to be photographed, but her parents or grandparents did give permission. This is a similar argument against Sally Mann when she took pictures of her young kids in various states of dress, including naked. Any photographer, in fact, that has ever taken a picture of a naked child, has this criticism.
It is up to the adults responsible for her well being and those who own the pictures to come up with a plan on who gets to see the pics, what to do with them, etc. What is your take on children who pose for an artistic nude shot? What about children who star in a movie where they have a nude scene?
By the way, if you want to be upset about nude shots of a young celebrity, look for the wewbsite that has Brook Shield's nude pictures when she was about 12. Talk about on the cusp of erotic. I don't think that if I had the URL, the pics would be appropriate for this site.
Your thrid argument implies that there is something inherently wrong with a naked 8-year-old girl on film.

"I would like to find out what Erin Gray did before and after ages 8 to 11."
Well let's see Jason, before those ages, she learned to walk, talk, eat by herself, basically was a little kid. Assuming she went to public school, she got through the second grade. After those ages, she went through puberty, got into the acting business, and has stayed in show biz.
"I wonder why Erin Gray discontinued being a nudist it sounds like she loved being a nudist."
Who says she ever was one or isn't one today? As Trail mentioned, she might just have been a kid being taken to nudist parks. And as most kids, she just fit in perfectly.
But stardom does hurt when it comes to privacy. There is a reason you will not see many big stars in nudist parks. The paparazzi would be following them everywhere. It would probably be a major problem for the comfort of the nudist park.
She may still be a home nudist. But your question, Jason, highlights the different categories of nudists. A home nudist is no less a nudist than a social nudist.

You could say that about my comment, since I only have "word-of-mouth" to support my statement. But how do you know there isn't more evidence of it out there besides the pictures? The fact is, you don't have any evidence to support your statement either.
But then again, what does it matter anyway?

The original argument was based on the assumption that the Yahoo group contained Mrs. Gray's teen nudist pics. That was not the case. This thread has been getting weird ever since.

Wow -- I didn't think posting a message about a celeb being a nudist would strike such controversy in a nudist group!
Let's clear some things up. The Yahoo group link I posted is NOT about her nudist days, although as I said, it does contain a few messages on that topic. I didn't think it was necessary to put that in my original post, but in retrospect, maybe it was.
My original intent was simply to respond to some interest I saw in Erin in another post on your board. Just to tell you where you could find a decent fan group about her that included discussions on her nudist days. Maybe I was wrong that more than 1 person had an interest in her. If so, I apologize, for sure...
Erin was a nudist from about 8-11 when she lived with her Grandparents in Palm Springs. She has said she enjoyed her time with her Grandparents very much, but has never spoken of the nudism except to confirm it through her publicist. I do not believe Erin is any form of nudist today.
Her publicist has been a long-standing and very valuable member of that group. The post where she confirms Erin was a nudist is post #166, if you need that info.
http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/erin_gray/message/166
Anyway, this is just a general fan site about Erin. Mostly announcements of appearances, projects, and reruns of her work on TV... There are also a ton of very normal pictures of Erin in there.
Sorry about sparking such a hot thread...

In 1993, Erin Gray played Jason Voorhees' sister in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday. The only other time I saw her was when I got her autograph a few years back at the Grand Slam Star Trek convention; I didn't know she was still acting. Way cool...

Erin Gray spent the first seven years of her life on the island of Hawaii before moving to Palm Springs to live with her grandparents. She began modeling at the age of 15 after her mother sent her photo to a St. Louis teen clothing manufacturer. In the late 1960's Erin made her television debut as a dancer in a variety show starring Ricky Nelson called Malibu U.
Erin married her high school sweetheart Ken Schwartz and moved to New York where her modeling career flourished. in 1974 Erin gave birth to her first child Kevan Gray Schwartz. For the next several years Erin's face became one of the most recognized in the country.
Among her many commercial credits she served as the original spokesperson for Loreal's "I'm Worth It" campaign as well as being the Maxi Girl for Max Factor, one of the first Sports Illustrated models, the Bloomingdale's spokesperson for over 10 years, and perhaps the most famous commercial campaign of the 70's: The Virginia Slims ads.
In the Late 70's Erin and family moved back to Los Angeles so she could pursue her acting career. After making several guest appearances in television series after series and landing a starring role in the movie Evening At Byzantium, MCA Universal gave her a contract. Her first starring role in a series came opposite Gil Gerard in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. By the Series end in 1981 Colonel Wilma Deering had left a lasting impression on viewers around the world.
In 1982 Erin was cast as Kate Summers in a pilot series called Silver Spoons. At first Kate was supposed to be blend in with the scenery. The part was created for someone to look after Edward Stratton III. It wasn't long before Kat was as popular a character as those played by Rick Schroder and Joel Higgins. Within the first four years of the series Kate went from Edward's personal assistant to head of the Laser Division of Eddie Toys to Edward's wife and finally President of Eddie Toys.
So much for blending in with the scenery...
Erin works as a professional agent and at numerous acting roles which can be found on http://www.imdb.com (the internet movie database) and http://www.eringray.com (her activities and interests)

MovieBuffs,
Even though Erin Moran isn't in the flick, not a bad idea to go see it. You know, I've almost had my dream destroyed by some trolls that are fundamentalists and I had mentioned to a waiter at the local Perkins, who wanted to be a musician, to not forget about your dream, because you'll never be happy. Well, gosh darn, I had to take my own advice and switched my major and am going into broadcasting. The point I'm making is to never forget your dream. That is who you are and why you were made.
Good job, MovieBuffs, for pointing that out and welcome to the forums! Hope to read more from you in the future!
