Consider visiting Mystic Oaks. Not much further and a quieter enviroment. Just up the hill from Glen Eden above Lake Elsinore, off Highway 74.

Elysium has been closed for years. The park was was operated by the late Ed Lange. He passed away in 1995. His two adult daughters put the club property up for sale. It was, I'm told, initially offered to the membership, but their offer for the property did not meet the Lange daughters' expectations and so it was put up and sold commercially.

Some were very upset that Mr. Lange left the property to his family and not the club members but, hell's bells, ya gotta take care of your family. And the two ladies had no interest in operating their Dad's nudist camp.

This is what happened to a lot of nudist parks near major metropolitan areas. The acreage was acquired in the 1950s or earlier, and that formerly "remote" location is now suburban.

Elysium's members moved the club to leased grounds in Malibu, California, but that leasing arrangement ended in late 2001.

According to an article that was published in the Topanga online news page, the members were going to form a non-landed club, but I don't think that it has happened.

One note of advice - many official looking "information sources" list defunct clubs, obsolete addresses, and point to non-working links. And printed nudist reference materials often contain some obsolete data when they hit the stands.

The most up-to-date information can be found at

Many clubs have a formal affiliation with either or both of those orgs and as a rule they keep their listings up to date.
