Sure. And next you'll try to convince us that the numerals & letters on the plane are backwards so that other planes will see them correctly in their rear-view mirrors! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

Notice that the plane also sports the flag of Paraguay (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Paraguay).
I believe backwards text is common on the right side of Paraguayan aircraft for exactly the same reason the US flag is painted reversed on the right side of the Space Shuttle (http://businessreview.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/shuttle_landing.jpg) - in order to place the beginning at the front of the craft. Fortunately the Paraguaynese are a very clever people who are able to read in either direction.
I believe I detected some skepticism in in the previous post about the authenticity of the photo above. As an expert in digital photo enhancement I can assure you that the photo shows no visible signs of manipulation. I believe it would even pass the stringent Reuters (http://www.zombietime.com/reuters_photo_fraud/) standard for authenticity.

Pretty good "Naturist Mark" close but not correct.
As a Australian and U.S. Commerical pilot I looked or checked in my data base and search engine and that is a "Croatia Airlines aircraft made by ATR. Its a ATR-42-300 Twin Turbo-Prop 46-50 passenger aircraft Fitted with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW 120 engines rated at 2,000 shp each, the ATR42-300 has become a work-horse of big and small regional operators world wide.
ATR is a group of Companies in France and Italy, mainly Aerospatale, Alenia, EADS, and Damiler Chrysler.
The Reverse Registration numbers are just a mirror or reversed image. The original image was modfiied by inserting the naked people at much lower resolution by some photo imaging program.
The aircrafT is in active service and the picture below is of it landing in Vienna- Schwechat, Austria [VIE/LOWW]to runway 34 at 18:36 August 26th, 2006 [15 days ago] It was put into service or first registered May 31st, 1995.
The Flag on the aircraft is of the Croatia:

That Air France 747 is great, even blind plane spotters could count the rivits on that one!!
Where was that by the way?

The airport code is [SXM]
In the north of the Caribbean's Lesser Antilles chain lies St. Maarten / Sint Martin, a small territory shared by two cultures, two countries, and thousands of tourists each year. The European capital of the Caribbean, delightfully Dutch and fantastically French, this tiny island of just 36 sq. miles is the smallest country shared by two nations.

I've been on that beach in Sint Maarten, and it's a heart-thumping experience when you're in line with the runway and it looks like the jet is going to land right on top of you.
I'm not quite sure about the picture of the 747, whether there may be some manipulation or at least optical illusion involved. Planes aren't usually quite that low. However I was told that's the shortest runway in the world used by 747s, so the pilots do get them on the ground quickly and the plane is almost at the runway.
My understanding is that nude use isn't allowed at that beach, but perhaps the picture is old.

It is not a nude beach, but topless is common.
Long lenses can explain some appearance of closeness that isn't really the case, but I understand that the planes DO get extraordinarily close on that beach - see this video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgu9mMl9nZQ)
If you think the landings can be heart stopping for people on that beach, take a look at what happens when a plane prepares to take off! - video. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpPJdDNHRKc)

Great plane pics, have copied most of them to my collection. Thanks!!
Was having problems creating an album here. Kept getting an error of some kind and when I went back, per instructions, the ability to correct the error was not there. That is, the item the sys was looking for was not there for me to use so I could not post an album. Oh well.

We tried that out, and the jet blast definitely could blow you off the beach. We took the precaution of lying down below the lip of the beach and protecting our eyes from flying sand, and it was still a fierce experience.
Concerning my nude beach comment, I was referring to the guy with no pants in the foreground of the 747 picture. It would be unlikely today, but maybe not that unusual some years ago.

When we were there the beach was well occupied, but most people stay off to the side away from the runway.

Winged aircraft take more runway to take off than to land. A plane that lands on a very short runway may make a very safe landing but take off may not be possible in that length.
On take off, the plane has everything against it. It has the very most weight it will ever have during the flight, except for head wind (if any) it has the least amount of air speed which gives it the least amount of control surface response. None. It has the most rolling resistance and air resistance builds where angle of attack cannot compensate to create lift. It has the least altitude and the fewest resources for contingent moves in event of mechanical failure. The pilot has to accelerate, go up hill while continuing to accelerate and keep all the equipment working at at least 110% of its capacity and ability. This maneuver is actually the easiest to do but the very most dangerous for the tzx on the machine.
ON the other hand, the landing is the very safest. Angle of attack is easily changed to compensate for airspeed which is selectively reduced. Engines work at only a small percent of power, the plane has the least weight of the flight, and actually has the lowest speed so stresses are lowest. Except for the landing gear meeting the ground there is little stress on the plane. But this takes the most skill. THe pilot has to position the plane at the correct spot on the correct line of the correct runway at the correct altidude and begin the correct power loss to let the air resistance to bring the plane to the ground on a very well planned glide slope to meet the runway at the correct place to allow continued deceleration to a stop or turn off the runway at a safe speed.
In either case if the pilot just follows the structures proceedure the plane will take itself off or land itself with little effort on part of the crew.
We loose over 50,000 people every year in car crashes on the roads. We loose few if any people in air crashes. Pilots have training several times a year, extremely extensive phsycals every six months for transport pilots, once a year for commercial pilots, and once every two years for private pilots, flight reviews by the FAA every two years, the planes have complete inspections every year and others in set periods by hours of use time.
Car drivers get tested to earn a license and never again. THey are not ever required to have a phisycal unless driving a truck. There is no on going training for drivers and vehicles have only shallow inspections once a year regardless of how many millions of miles driven in that year.
That is one reason why flight travel is the safest form of transportation available. Yet one incident and everyone screams for more aviation safety while hundreds are killed on the roads daily as they complain about airplanes.
