I hardly call the easstern gathering biggest event in northeast.
The gathering gets boring each year. I stopped attending two years ago. Each year is the same thing, over and over. Each year, less and less young people stop coming. Even N magazine covered story on lack of young folks at these gatherings, especially the eastern gathering.

It still is one of the biggest events in the northeast. The only event that probably outdraws it is the Superbowl in September at White Thorn.
They sell out every bedspace, every room fr the last three or four nights.
Attendance has risen back, close to its original levels.
Yes, it is the same thing every year.
Why should TNS tinker with a winning format?

The AANR East Nudist Summer Celebration will be in July at White Tail Resort:

If you can't make it to the TNS gathering, or if you want to try both, come on down to Virginia. By the way, we are expecting a lot of young people attending this event.

My wife and I will be at the Gathering. I believe attendance had fallen a few years when they rescheduled the event to a different time during the summer. Since it has been back again in mid June, the attendance, as has been indicated in this forum, seems to be back up.

That August rescheduling took place after a management change at Eastover -- and some other group had already been permitted to book that week.
The resort realized that the event was one of their biggest -- if not THE biggest event they host all year. And very big in terms of money.
It has become a fixture -- I believe that this is the eighth or ninth one there --
But when it moved back to June, attendance kicked up again. It was a very good week -- because it kicks off the summer, and also the August week was bad for families with kids.
One other thing to note about this event - it is, as far as I know, the largest nudist/clothing-optional event held at a non-nudist resort in the United States.
Some may complain about "not enough young people" -- being in my mid-50s, "young" is relative but I do see a lot of folks in their 30s and 40s....
And as far as events go -- the Gathering is what members and participants make it. In order to make the Gathering "go", people have to contribute and share. Got an idea for a session or event there? Do it.

Seriously, YES.
Only "official" photographers are permitted -- and they are working for or with "N" and TNS and readily identified.
And if you're at a session - they will ask "is there anyone here who does NOT want to be in a picture?" and they will either shoot around you or if necessary, you can move out of his/her camera range.

I went last year and had a great time, mostly running after the kids. The kids all found other kids to hang out with. The oldest kid there was maybe 13 or so. Between the ages of 13-29, there was maybe three people. I think there was maybe 8 or 9 kids younger than 13 and three of those were mine.
Mostly the kids were dressed. Even my 9 year old nudist boy was dressed most of the time. He loved the volleyball, thanks to Morley. The slide was great, but, oddly enough, not too much fun for the kids.
It was an expensive trip for me to get from S. Florida to Massachusettes. Though we had fun, it was too much to do again right now. The event definitely caters to the larger nudist audience, which is those over 50 years old....

I'll be there on Friday. Can't stay more than a day this year. We will also be bringing some people for which this will be their first 'social' nudist event.
We have been going for the last three or four years and look forward to the Gathering each year.

I missed you -- but also had the opportunity to meet and socialize with both Ewan M and Freedom2be.
I ran into Ewan because he had already been hanging out with some friends from Maine Coast Solar Bares. Ironically, I met freedom2be, as she was chatting with mrs lurk -- yet, I was unaware that she was freedom2be!!!
A few minutes later, Ewan pointed out = "Hey- there's freedom2be over there!!!"
A wonderful week -- a wonderful time -- let's do it again in 2007!
