Hi Michigan people,
I've noticed more and more that we have MI members on this board and "I" would like to send out a big hello and invite YOU to post what area/city you're in so we fellow Michiganders can see where our neighbors are and compare notes.
As you know, MI has "STRICTTTTTT" policies as far as public nudity is concerned and I feel that we need to stick together and compare notes to find THAT ONE PLACE to enjoy.
Up until a couple of years ago, I was born and raised in Taylor (SE of detroit). Had houses in Ecorse but got out of there, toot-sweet. I NOW work at a nudist camp in WV but my heart is still in MI.
So let's hear from you all (compare notes, beaches, places, expierences, etc). PM me if necessary but I HOPE to hear from all of you!!!
I'm all for helping out the MI nudist community!!! So how about it??

Hi. I'm Mel and I live in SE Michigan, [SW of Ann Arbor]. I've been to Turtle Lake several times and really enjoy it. I also own 40 arces that I can roam around in when I want.
Alot of it is woods and there is a creek running threw the back that I can go skinny-dipping in.
You can see where I am by looking below. I spend a lot of nude time at Turtle Lake Resort also. I met Mel there last year but haven't seen him since. Apparently, we're not there on the same days.

We should have a MICHIGANDER INA day at Turtle lake, one day.
"I've" never been to Turtle lake but heard plenty about it. It would be nice to expand my horizons a bit.

I may soon be a mis-placed Northerner in Georgia. As I mentioned elsewhere, my house might be sold for real this time. Then it's to Serendipity Park in Cleveland, GA to live!

I live in Jackson. At home nudist only right now but I'm working on it. I live in the city so my naked time has to remain indoors.

I'm so glad to see a starter response to my letter, glad to see more michiganders up and about.
A piece of advice is a book I never vacation without. It's gotten me to all the nude spots in and around MI. It's called WORLD GUIDE TO NUDE BEACHES AND RESORTS By Lee Baxandall. It runs about $25-28 but WELL worth the cost. It has directions, beaches, phone #'s etc to everything nudist ALL OVER THE WORLD, including MI. GoTo www.amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com) or your major bookstore to order.
Another site I use is www.aanr.com (http://www.aanr.com) then to CLUBS then to MI. It'll list all the camps in MI and a bit more.
Gotta' admit. When I lived in MI, I was convinced that "I" was THE only nudist there. NONE of my friends would ever "DO THAT".
I DID go to the NAKED MILE once, just to say I went, and it was pretty cool, but the laws are "HARSH" now and many lost alot because of it.
Congrats on the sell off Jon-Marc. As a former landowner, I know the feeling when you cano FINALLY get what you want. Now comes the packing....(grin)
AS for our Jackson dude. Glad to see you also!!! Do you know you're not far at all from a nudist camp??

How does this Sunday look for going to Turtle Lake. I'm golfing in the morning but could make it in the afternoon. Anybody else going?
The weather is supposed to be in the upper 70's Sunday with scattered thunderstorms. That could and probably will change since the weather forecast doesn't stay the same for very long. It rained all day here Thursday, so I didn't go for the first time this week.

Yea stevedaoust, I've done my homework. We have a family nudist resort in brooklyn(about 20 mins. away)and one in northadams (about 30 to 35 mins.) but I'm not to sure about the one in northadams. On their web site they tell you they are adult only & also swinging is allowed. I really want to go to turtle lake. There is no way my wife will go and I tried to talk her into letting me go alone for one day but she doesn't like that idea either. This makes me really frustrated but making an issue of it isn't worth the friction in the marrige. Lately I'm naked on the outside and sad on the inside.

Btw, hope to make a visit to the Lake Erie beach that's know for an occasional all-over-tanner

The club in Brooklin MI is Northaven Resort (http://www.northavenresort.com/). They are not affiliated with either AANR or TNS, probably because of their 'Miss Northaven' pageant they hold each year. I know some members of Northaven and they assure that it is a very nice place. My impression is that it is more couples oriented than family oriented, but they do enforce the usual rules about public behavior. Northaven is not particularly singles friendly, (unless they've changed the policy) single men must leave at 6pm unless they are the guest of members.
Cherry Lane Resort in Adams, MI is not a nudist resort. It is a Swingers resort that does not allow singles or children.

I personally wouldn't ever bother with swinger anything. It's bad enough that one has to dodge those that think that a nudist resort is a RELIEF STATION and not what it really is.
I would still go into www.aanr.com (http://www.aanr.com) to look up camps/clubs for MI. I've heard good things about Forest hill and Turtle lake, so I'd start with those.
As for the wife situation. I think that she's NOT allowing you to go because of her own fears. I've always said, EDUCATION goes on forever...When my nephew stayed over once, he inadvertantly found out that I slept nude and he was taken back, etc, etc. But once I was MATTER-OF-FACT about it and answered EVERY question he posed, it was no longer a big deal. I even allowed him to sleep nude at our house, IF he wants and even has taken the approach of no biggy skinneydipping infront of his male friends if need be.
My next question is, do you nude IN FRONT of her at home? Does she? Let her know that it doesn't differ at a camp/resort. It's a COMFORT thing and nothing more.

Naturistmark,
I'm curious as to why a swinger's club would turn away singles. It seems to me that's the very people they would allow. I'm not saying all singles are swingers, but they do seem to be perceived that way by ignorant people. I'm no swinger and wouldn't be interested in a place like that. Certainly, children don't belong in such a place.

I suppose Cherry Lane may be a wife swapping club, so a single would have no wife to swap, so thus would be disqualified from attending.
OK, I guess I'm as confused as usual. So only married people can be swingers? /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Jon-Marc,
I am sure that single guys could get in if they brought a female to share: BYOB (Bring your own broad). It is as ugly as it sounds. These folks ain't nudists, they are wife (and girlfriend) swappers who get nekkid once in a while.
I have a brother and sister-in-law like that. When I was married they wanted us to swap with them. My sister-in-law has four kids by four different men. We think the oldest is her husband's. Two are by two of my other brothers, and one is by a black man. She wanted a fifth one by me but failed on that. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That's their way of enforcing an absolute gender balance. And that's about all I care to know about them.

This tops it. A Single guy can't even make it into a swingers club. I feel like Spankey and Buckwheat and start a single guys only nudist camp and put a sign on the door. "No girls and married allowed." (smile)
I've been trying to think of a way to have a legal nude beach in MI for years now. I think once I do, I have the beach broken up into sections, with married having a small corner and singles the rest, with single guys section right by the concession stand and the bathrooms.(grin)

Steve,
The name of the club was "The He-Man Woman Hater's Club". I don't think it was long before Darla worked her charms and softened Spanky's heart.
I love your idea about locating concessions and restrooms in the single guy's section of that proposed nude beach. It would be justice served.
Funny thing, I have been to two different non-landed club events and a nudist resort that did not have gender balance rules and they still had a pretty good gender balance in every case.
One last thought, I remember a story about a bunch of guys in Alaska complaining that they had no women in their part of the great northern wilderness, so they published a catalog with some real hunky beefcake pictures of themselves and mailed it all over the USA.
Soon women were falling over themselves to get to Alaska to get married off to these guys! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hey yah, we can make a calendar of our own and called it "SINGLE MALE NUDISTS, See what is left out in the cold?" (oh wait, two words that don't go well with male nudists.smile)
I'm an owner of a young adult nudist club on yahoo and I judge a member by their merits not whether their single or not. Clubs should have the same frame of mind. Imagine what their missing. For instance, single guys have way more time to create....

Here's an update. I finally persuaded my wife to let me go this one day to turtle lake because of the car show. I had a great time! Loved every minute of it. Looked at the cars, played putt, putt golf, went in the hot tub. Met a couple people there and had real good conversation. Now for the down side. When I got home had the cold shoulder for awhile. She didn't think she would have a problem with it till I actually went. So now to keep peace in the house I'll just spend my nude time at home. Yes I go nude in front of her as much as possible. She also goes nude in front of me once in awhile. She said she just feels our naked bodies should be just for each other. I've tried to explain it is only a comfort thing. She said I know you hate clothes, I would just rather have you run around naked at home. At least I was able to expreience it once. By the way I looked for you jon-marc but must be you weren't there.

Congrats on the first time!!! It sure is a nice feeling isn't it.
It is too bad that your wife feels that way. In my past when women have that same problem it mostly stems from insecurities of their own that they're not even aware of.
What are the odds of booking time a Turtle lake and surprising her with a vacation and showing her just how nice it is. After all, you've gotten THIS far.
