This am when I got up it was raining hard. I went to the kitchen to let the dogs out and get my coffee. When the dogs noticed the rain they backed up and didn't want to go out. Well it was 78 degrees at 5:30 so I coaxed the dogs outside by going out first. They did their business and wanted back in. I thought this feels great, nude in the rain, I haven't done this for years so I stayed out and walked around the yard. At 5:30am none of my neighbors were up so since today was garbage day I walked the can to the road. I then went back inside fixed my lunch and took it to the car. Then I thought I better go dry off get dressed and go to work. Just one of lifes little enjoyable thiings that we take for granted.

I did a couple times too and I just loved the feeling. The last time I was going naked camping I kept watching the weather to see if I was going to go or not because of rain and then decided that it would be great if it did rain! It didnt rain but of course still had a great time. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I have been at Wreck Beach several times in the rain, and have enjoyed walking nude the several kilometers from Wreck to Acadia beaches. I seem to be the only one to enjoy the experience though, because each time I have apparently had the beach to myself.

Sure! We vacation on St. Martin every year and stay at Club Orient. Rain cells pass over this island constantly and on ocassion, when we have been walking the beach, it rains and we just continue our walk.

It feels great and we try off faster than we'd like sometimes.

Another good reason to go nude when hiking, 'biking or to the beach...

Rain makes no difference, in warmer weather, when there are no clothes to bother with..

(Most of the time it will be cold winds - and not the rain - that causes discomfort, chilling and possible hypothermia..).

Yes at haulover beach. Since there was no thunder it was safe to walk nude in the rain.

It felt great.

I have many times. In the hot summer, it is great to feel the energy of the summer storms, just be sure you aren't at the peak of a mountain, or under the tallest tree.

Even in the Fall/Spring hiking nude in the rain can feel warmer than with clothes. I find that in a light rain, I keep perfectly dry while hiking as my body heat evaporates most of the rain.

And when I was in Guam every afternoon there seemed to be a rain that lasted all of 15 minutes. I was often swimming and it felt kind of weird to be in the water, and having rain at the same time. And no, these weren't thunder storms, so it was safe.

When I lived in the north, in the summer sometimes there were warm rains and it was nice to be in the rain.
Strangely enough, now that I live in the deep south, even in the summertime the rain is usually too cold to enjoy, and of course hail is no fun at all. Maybe the rain here is generally cold because the altitude of rain clouds may be higher, or something else.
Warm rain is nice in the summer, especially if it is not too intense.

vapaa, I have also freehiked in the snow. I don't do this barefoot, but with boots. If there isn't too much wind, it can be much more pleasant than some might imagine. I usually prefer more strenuous hikes in the winter so that my natural body heat keeps me warm.

My hot tub is on the deck just outside the family room. My favorite time is to use it during the rain. I have also went for hikes in the rain at various resorts I've visited. I think its a great way to enjoy nature and all you need is a towel when your done.

I walked nude in the rain (even danced !)
It was so great to be free of clothes.

It was quite a feat because the temperature was cool at about 5C (around 37F).

The last time my wife and I stayed at Caliente, we decided to go off property for dinner one evening. While we were in our room getting ready, it started pouring ready hard. This kind of upset us, because we were really hungry, our umbrellas were in the car across the parking lot, and we didn't want to be sitting in a restaurant soaked. So after about 5 minutes of waiting for the rain to let up, I thought, hey...we're at a nudist resort...we can go to the car naked! So we shoved our clothes and some towels in a trash bag and walked to the car. We dried off in the car, got dressed and went to dinner dry!

5C = 41F, FYI. I find that temps above 45F = 7C are comfortable to me to hike in, but I have hiked in temps as low as 30F = -1C. If there is any wind, though there is danger of frostbite, and that is a scary thought if you are freehiking! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shocked.gif

Has cooled allot from mid week. Would love to be in a rain storm here but lightening is a very real concern. THe yard next door has been hit 3 times this year, they are the last user on a power circuit.

I am the last user on a different power circuit. That is where radiation sets up and it attracts lightening. I did get the power company to do a better job of grounding on my pole and that has all but stopped lightening strikes in my yard. But the person next door needs work and won't do it. Oh well.

Years ago , at Sunshine Gardens in Battle Creek , MI., I went for an early morning run. The sun was barely up, and there was a light rain. There was also a foggy mist that limited visability to about ten ysrds, and seemed to glow like mother of pearl in the pale light.
It was MAGICAL. Evan tho I nearly steped on a skunk! I still dont know who was more releived, me or the skunk!

Yes, I got caught out on a hiking trail once, hiking nude and the bottom fell out, it was a welcome cooling off, but made the hiking a bit messy, slosshing in the mud. It was spring and the rain falling was a bit cool after a little while, but it made for a memorible hike.

Two days ago we had a horrendous rain storm, got 3 inches in a hour and a half. I really wanted to go outside nude in all that but the lightening was kind of fierce. In fact, there was so much lightening that the sky was totally lit like a horizon to horizon billion quintillion watt florescent light. In fact, there was no break between lightening strikes, they were going on in multiple beams all starting long before any previous stopped. Would have been suicide to go outside, but sure would have felt good ! The rain that is, not so sure about being hit by a bolt of electricity.

I have a few times. A few years ago, my wife and I were on one of the Family Islands in the Bahamas. We'd hiked over to the beach next to us, and on the way back it started to rain. We just continued on the dirt road back to the house, letting the rain wash all over us.

A similar thing happened this past trip down there. My daughter and I were at a beach near by, and were walking back to the car. A shower rolled over us, and we just walked on. I told her that was one of the great advantages of walking nude on the beach, it didn't matter if it started raining!

I have yet to be out in the rain nude as a planned activity. However, the other night while trying to set up my tent the clouds rolled in and it started to lightning. Just as I got the tent up it began to hail. Fortunately, that's all it did.

Next time I'd like it to be a warm gentle rain.

Late last night it was still raining so I walked around in my backyard nude. The sensation of the raindrops on my bare skin was fantastic. When I came back inside, I didn't need a towel to dry myself because I really wasn't that wet. Sure beats having wet clothes sticking to me.

Nude in the rain is so much more fun, as long as there is no lightning, than being clothed. We visited friends at a camp they go to(not clothing optional) and got soaked and cold. Would not have been warm enough for a nude walk anyway. We did have a lot of fun and look forward to going again.

We have been caught in several afternoon Florida thunderstorms while visiting Playalinda beach. Aside from the awesome lightning over the ocean, it was a fantastic feeling. I also found it funny to see people on the beach get dressed to run to their cars while the rain was coming down. We waited until we were at the parking lot ramp to throw something on-sure beats the drive back in wet clothes.

I have not really walked around nude in the rain, but, once on a cruise in the caribbean I was laying out in the topless section, nude. There was one other person and they were nude as well. There was a sudden cloud burst and we both go up and enjoyed the rain. The people around the main pool were getting dressed and left the area. We both stayed up there and the rain stopped and the sun came back out, so, it was back to sunning. It was a cool experience!

Got caught in a real cloudburst earlier this week. Was doing some outdoor work in the nude and was about 100 yards from our house. What a refreshing feeling, like a huge shower with multiple jets covering my entire nude body. Really enjoyed it. The skin dries suprisingly fast. Looking forward to the next time.

As a member of the UK we are more likely to walk in the rain. An umbrella is a useful item along the lines of the Aleut natives who also appear to have forgotten to invent clothing. They lived in sub-Arctic conditions and hid behind screens (umbrellas!) from the biting winds.
Strange comment one of our walkers said it would be strange to be walking naked in the woods under an umbrella. Surely it is more strange to deny the warm rays of the sun or the tingling of a cool breeze on your skin.
I recently attended a low tide naked bike ride. Why get my clothes wet? I put them in a bag and finished off the ride with a skinny dip. The air cooling my body and salt water spray was great. Clammy textiles; no way!

Walking in the rain in the tropics (where the rain is warm and more like taking a shower) is very enjoyable. Wlaking in the rain in the northern or southern climes is not, as the rain is usually cold.

I try not to pass up an opportunity to enjoy a natural rain shower, as long as its warm enough, but it usually takes place in my backyard, rather than while walking. There are a few memorable times that happened while away from home though.

About 15 years ago, the Eastern Naturist Gathering was held at Avalon Resort. My wife and I, along with our friends, were just finishing setting up our campsites. As if on cue, the skies that had been threatening rain for a while, opened up with a heavy deluge. Since it had been a hot and sticky day, we wasted no time stepping out from under our canopies to cavort in the warm summer rain. I don't think any shower could have felt better.

One summer day, roughly twenty years ago, I was hiking (clothed) in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. It was a very hot and humid day. I spent the afternoon in the river, but decided to go for a hike before I went home. I planned to take another dip in the river before leaving, but shortly before I got back to the car, it started lightening. Crap! I sat in the car and waited. Then it started to rain - really hard. The lightening didn't seem to be very close, so against my better judgment, I took off my clothes and stepped out into the rain. It felt great. I was parked at one of the little dirt side roads that run from Old Mine Road, back to the river. Since it was late in the day, I figured that no one else would be coming back there any more that day, I decided to take a walk. I was a couple of hundred yards away from my car when I saw a van coming out into the clearing, headed for me. I dived down into the weeds and it passed by. I was apparently unseen. The van continued on to the dead-end, turned around and parked in front of my car - facing me. Double crap! I could do nothing but wait. So I waited .... and waited ... and waited. The rain stopped, the sun came out again and still the van sat there. I could see there were people in both front seats, but couldn't make out any details. I don't know how long I waited, but it was a long time; at least half an hour. Finally I got up the nerve to do it: I stepped out of my hiding spot and walked toward the van (and my car behind it). As I got close I could see a girl in the passenger seat and a guy in the driver's seat. As I passed the open passenger window I sheepishly said: "sorry, I didn't expect anybody to come back here this late in the day." The guy leaned over and with a big grin said: "No problem! We're naturist's too." I stopped and we chatted for a good ten or fifteen minutes about naturism, our favorite spots and other stuff. The guy seemed really happy to trade info. I was nude the whole time we talked. The girl seemed mildly uncomfortable.

Although a nice summer shower can be a real treat, still, sometimes you just want to wait out the rain. (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2151/1569170703_f8fffc46a1_o.jpg)

I don't think so. The rain is often warmer than air. The rain is uncomfortable if you are wearing clothes that become wet, but when you don't wear clothes, that's entirely different.

Yes, I have been naked in summer rain, walking or cycling. The fact that it rained hard made it fairly improbable that anyone else would just then use the same rural pathway or otherwise see me there when I cycled about one kilometer from my summer home to the mailbox.

The only time I have the opportunity to walk nude in the rain was last year hiking out from Deep Creak Hot Springs. It was only a brief summer shower but it sure felt good.
Unfortunately when we get rain in Southern California there is usually a strong wind with it. This makes the chill factor to cold to be out nude.

One of my walkers posted this:
...the tingle of rain on my body does nothing for me; it is the stinging of heavy rain that really excites me!
I agree rain wets clothes that conduct heat away from body - nasty
rain wets skin, skin dries naturally - nice!
Wind does not come into this equation apart from the idea that an umbrella is most appropriate. You can be naked but deflect the wind.
Our walking group always shows great respect to our overweight walkers. We accept that they have better thermal insulation so we put them in the lead. The other walkers can then walk behind said individual using him/her as a wind-break!

In 2004 I went on a combination nude hike and nude camping trip with my dog Mickey. I was going out a old log truck road that I have hiking many times to a landing once used to collect the logs for transporting.
Anyway, I had the tent up for maybe a half hour before the unexpected shower began. I had no idea it was coming. But I took advantage of it and lathered with my soap as best I could and shampood my head. I had planned to do this in the big pool maybe 30 feet from the landing. Yes, there is a stream, and I have enjoyed skinny dipping in it many times.
I enjoyed the time in the rain, playing fetch with Mickey and just sitting there relaxing in the glow of the moonlight.
I have been hiking nude in the rain since, but, no memories are as pleasent as the one told above.

It's too cold for me. The last time I was caught in the rain at my nudist club, I braved it for about five minutes then had to sit it out in the hot tub. That was nice though. Warm all through with cold rain beating on my head. It was like being snuggled up in a warm sleeping bag with the rain beating on the tent walls.

It rained super hard for over an hour and I never got out of the hot tub.

It seldom rained in the summer where I grew up (Northern California) but when I was 13-14 and it rained, I'd take off all my clothes, pull on the big pullover raincoat that came to my knees (stepdad used it for hunting) and walk barefoot through my neighborhood -- no one was the wiser. Not exactly fully naked but man did it feel good!

LOLOL, yes he was. But he wasn't naked when doing it. Hmmm does having an umbrella constitute being naked in the rain?

Last week or so I got to do this again. I've generally resisted being deliberately in the rain for most of my adult life due to the unpleasant memory of being in the rain for 8 solid days once (with temps in the 30's and 40's) while serving in the army. However earlier this year I tried it for awhile on a warm summer day and found it very pleasant.

Last week the temps were very warm for an October day and I decided to throw on the water sneakers and take a walk back into the woods on my property. It was a nice experience however after 10-12 minutes I could tell I was getting a bit cool. I'd say that a longer experience would be nice if I was doing a walk that was more difficult and needed greater effort so as to generate body heat. But to just amble along in a drizzle, it was a bit cool for that.

But the main thing for me is that I think I'm finally over my dislike of the rain which opens up possibilities for the future.

I'm thinking that there are lots of popular hiking trails in the area that are all but abandoned during predicted rainy times. I might turn that situation to my advantage...

Out of the 4 or 5 five times I have had the pleasure to walk naked in the rain my favorite time was in a deluge in Louisiana in october. It still frequently warm there in october. This night it was in the mid 70's. I was visiting relatives that live in a Jamacian style plantation house built in the 1840's. It had a formal garden in the front of the house. I had the house to myself for the evening. When it started to pour I stripped of and went walking in the garden. It was GREAT!!!!

I love the summer rains. Well, when there's no lightning. I used to wander the woods naked as a kid and loved the feel of raindrops on bare skin and damp earth beneath my feet. I still enjoy it today, although the opportunities are fewer.

It's nice when camping to just accept the rain and not have to deal with wet clothes. I introduced the concept to a fellow backpacker once when the heavens opened while we were setting up camp our first day out. I stripped off and covered my clothes and pack, pitching my tent nude. He gave me a funny look as I worked, then realization struck and he did the same. The rain set in and we enjoyed it as we made camp, not hindered by rain gear and wet clothes. Then we enjoyed "wet lounging" on some rocks by a creek to relax after a full day. We didn't bother to dry off until we cooked dinner in the vestibule of my tent more than an hour later. After that experience we never bothered with clothes at the end of the day for the rest of the trip, raining or not.

Since i live in South Florida (usually hot) and shower outside 100% of the time, it has occurred often that it will be raining when I go to take my shower. This is no problem (unless there is lightning) as I just use a little less city water and use a little more rain water. Even in winter, I am able to shower through the rain. Interesting sensation to have different temperature water hitting you at the same time, but very enjoyable none-the-less.

I have never set up my tent when camping in the rain naked, but will have to try that one day...

The last time I was at the nudist resort I frequently visit, I was walking the trail that circles the lake. It started to storm, and since it was 90 out, it felt great to have the rain splashing on my naked body. I walked around for about a half and hour.

I have only done it at night and it did feel refreshing. I live to close to the road to try it during the day.

Two summers ago, I had set out to hike nude at one of the local park's trails. I was not quite 1/2 way through, when it just poured. And, again this past summer, I was at Chataqua Gorge in New York hiking nude along the water, and I got caught in a pretty heavy downpour.
Since I was nude, it certainly felt refreshing not having to worry about wet clothing clinging to my skin

I have never done it on purpose, but I have been caught in the rain in Florida. It was warm enough that I didn't mind it at all.

I did just a couple of weeks ago. It was about 2am and was about 65 degrees. It felt great! I was out on a local trail near my home. I'm going out to my favorite place this morning and they are saying it could rain today, so who knows. Might get the chance again.

I have went out in the rain to get my morning paper, but here in the NW it is not warm rain--I wouldn't want to walk very far in it, even in summer!

Walking in the rain with all of your skin exposed is a heavenly experience!! I highly recommend it, if you have the means.

I walked in the rain 3-4 times last week at Paradise Lakes in Florida. I highly recommend it. Do it if you ever get the chance. There is nothing like the rain on your natural raincoat, your skin.

I've never walked in the rain, but one summer I was on Nantucket and was taking a shower outside when it began to gently rain. It was one of the best showers I've had!
