My wife reluctantly joined me at our local nudist club for a day recently. She wasn't very happy about the entire thing to begin with, in fact she had been sobbing in the garden when the suggestion had first been raised. Nevertheless she came along, with no prompting from me, and discovered that it really was no big deal after all, as we all do. After a short time, she said she even forgot all the other people were naked.
Several joint trips later, our 12 year old daughter decided to join us. At the gates, she said: "can we go home now?", but mostly from last minute nerves. We had already told her she could keep her bikini on, no problem, all afternoon is she wished.
In the event, she simply sat on the blanket as we arrived, removed all her clothes and immediately joined us naked at the club. We went for a swim, and a walkabout before playing a complete game of naked giant chess. She also came away saying: "it's easy really, what's the problem? And it was kind of fun!"

I'll have to face this situation when, in a few days, my family comes over from China. They are Chinese; I am a European
During my stay in China I tried in vain to make my small family into at least indoor nudists which in that climate, would make sense
Now here in NZ, I hope to reverse it as they are out of their comfort zone and are willing to change habits.
On Saturday the 6th of August there will be a swimnight in a warm pool, it will be crucnch time then.I intend to just take my wife as both together they are very unlikely to get naked.
I have found that out in the past that on an individual basis there is not all that much resistance to get undressed, but together......forget it.
It is an illustration of how social pressures and mores can influence attitudes.
The climate in Soutern China is over 30 degrees Celcius as a norm 8 months of the year, despite that, within my little family, I was the only one who did without clothes in summertime, whenever I was home. No amount of reasoning would get me anywhere
I have read many post in regards of this matter and the best way seems a gradual approach rather than a dogmatic approach.
Wish me luck.......I need it

richinud, thanks for one more (two more!) confirmation(s) that when people confront their socially-imposed fears, they discover those fears were completely unfounded in the first place. Kudos to your family! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I know a family at the resort I go to who had a similar progression, and now they have a spot up there and basically live there whenever possible (weekends, summers, etc.)
Success....it CAN happen!

Cool! I've known several families who had similar experiences with their kids. If at first it's "Are we REALLY going to get naked?" Then it becomes, halfway to the resort, "Can we get naked yet?" When it's time to go home, "Do I HAVE TO put on CLOTHES now?" (CLOTHES is usually drawled out over about 10 seconds times in those cases and accompanied by the whiney sobbing that kids are so good at.) Once I showed up at the pool with my socks and shoes on and was asked by a little one, "Where are you going? Wal-Mart?"
