A while back, someone posted a link to this product and at least one or two people mentioned that they'd tried it.
I have just recently decided to try going smooth (at least partially) and am curious about the Bodygroom. I am unclear as to whether it is just a trimmer or if it is a shaver. Can you get totally smooth with it, or does it just trim like any ordinary trimmer? And is it really useable everywhere? The site implies it can be used on any body part, but is a little unclear on if it removes hair or trims it.
So far, I have used a blade to shave. I started off with my underarms as I seemed to be having a bit of a reaction to my deodorant and my wife thought it was because I was using too much. I always felt that the hair got in the way and used a lot to be sure it "got through". After shaving my armpits I found I liked the look/ feel and decided to shave my scrotum and trim a bit around my penis. Now I'm curious about taking it all off. Waxing is not something I am keen to try and shaving my whole body would take forever, so I thought I'd ask those of you who tried this if it's any good.
Any feedback is appreciated.

i know the product you are talking about and don't know either if it's a shaver or trimmer. i just use nivea shave gel and mach three razor. gives me that close shave. afterwards i use a shave balm (no alcohol). i've been maintaining for three years now. i stay away from hair remover lotions as they burn. also electric razors cause redness. this is what works for me. when i started i used a hair trimmer to get as close as i could to the skin then shaved with shave cream and razor. any questions e-mail me. good luck!

Bodygroomer is not yet available in Canada so I finally took the plunge and ordered one from the U.S. It will take a little while to get here with clearing customs etc. but will let you know what I think of it when it arrives.
Up to this point I have used a 3 blade Gillette razor and it has been satisfactory but got suckered in by the Bodygroom ad and will give it a try.

Lol, Fuzzy. I keep seeing your posts but I never realised until now that you were in Canada. I guess the avatar was throwing me off.
I actually wasn't aware that it isn't available here yet. I had looked briefly in a few stores. I guess if it gets a good review, I'll have to order it.

It seems that Canadians would need all the hair they can grow! Ha! But I have never shaved my body so can't help with comments on that. Just not my style to do so. Nothing wrong with it, just not my personal style.

I used to use a Gillette Mach 3 razor but I switched to using the Gillette Fusion 5 blade razor and it works better. It shaves easier and closer and lasts longer so it doesn't end up costing any more than the Mach 3.

I bought the Bodygroomer a few months ago. I'm naturally quite hairy. I get my wife to "shave" my back for me when I'm going to go out to nudist functions. The Bodygroomer has both a trimmer and a shaver foil on the head. If you lie it flat against your skin, it is a shaver, if you tilt it, it is a trimmer.
The shaver doesn't work as well as I would like, but the trimmer works fine. It is wider than the trimmer on my electric shaver that I use on my face, so it makes trimming my back a lot faster.
You might find different results with the shaver, though.
I shave my chest and stomach daily in the shower with a Mach 3 razor and Gillette shave gel. I make it part of my daily routine and it seems to work fine.
I used to try to shave my chest and stomach with my facial shaver but it took a lot longer than just using the gel and Mach 3.
I also tried hair removal cream, but it takes a while and irritated (burned?) my skin. I also found that it left some stubbly spots that I had to go over with a razor. It didn't last as long as I thought it should, so I gave it up after 3-4 tries at it. Maybe it was operator error, but I just have found that the Mach 3 is my best option.
Hope that helps.

brainyguy999 - Very interested in your results. How did it work on the balls? I find this area quite difficult to shave with a blade (maybe I am just a coward).
I am not a hairy person, being blonde I wouldnt bother shaving my chest or back or butt but for some reason the only place where my hair is darker is in the groin. I am very interested in what results you had in this area with the bodygroomer.

Actually, I found that shaving my scrotum was pretty easy. I had no problem, no irritation. I suppose I could just rely on the blade, but is seems as though it would take a long time (and I already spend too long in the shower...)

I found that dry shaving my scrotum with a dry Mach 3 razor works best. Just pull it taut and use a light touch with the razor. The hair stands up and the razor just cuts them right down at skin level.
I have nicked myself a very few times by trying to hurry around the base of my penis, but never seriously enough to need any kind of bandage.
I find that if I shave my groin and scrotum too regularly I will get an ingrown hair or two. If I see that happening, I stop shaving there for about a week to let all of the hairs grow out of the skin and then return to shaving.
The rest I do in the shower with gel.
Stay nude.

We have used several techniques and products over the years. Mostly, it's the good old Mach 3 razor. For several years, we've used a product called Nad's, a citrus based product like waxing, but not hot. We would use it on my wife's pubic hair, and then I started using it on my stomach. Great results with both.
A few months ago, I tried a similar product to the Phillips Bodygroom. Mine has Panasonic on the handle. I'm not real hairy either, and what I do have is fairly light colored. I had my wife use it on my back, and with a little discomfort in a few spots, it worked great. I then tried it on my stomach, again with good results. Then my wife had me try it on her pubes, and again it performed well.
Normally, I shave my pubes and scrotum in the shower every morning. I also to do the dry shave of the scrotum about once a week. I've been letting my pubes grow this past week, and I'm going to try the bodygrommer on them this week. I'll let you know how it goes.

If you're shaving yourself everymorning, why the dry shave? Just touching up?

A note to my fellow Canucks, the Bodygroom is now available north of the border. I picked one up a few weeks ago, have tried it a few times so far and it doesn't work too bad.

I have the Bodygroom. For me, it works nicely, however, if I am in a hurry, some stubble remains. On an other note, just tried the 5 blade Fussion this morning. Man, it was unbelievable. Very, very close. No nicks and I can't find any stubble and it took about the same amount of time as my Bodygroom. Decisions, decisions.

I was finally able to get the Bodygroomer in Canada. They became available during the summer. I am very happy with it although it does seem to miss patches particularly if you get you get a hurry. I always use it dry although you can use it in the shower.
Because my hair is blonde it really doesn"t matter if I miss the odd patch. I use the bodygroomer daily and it usually does the job in a couple of minutes and then about once a week I go back to the Gillette triple blade to fine-tune the shave. I might also add that I dont trim down under - instead I try to remove all the hair.
The one bonus with the product is that itch and red bumps have disappeared.

I will tell you of my experience with teh Bodygroom. Like any electric shaver, it is not as close as a blade but much more convenient to use.
With any foil shaver, there will be a day when you need to replace the foil. That day came for me this week.
I wasted an entire day going from store to store and NOBODY stocks replacement foils for the Bodygroom. Unless I can get one soon the device is on its way to the trash.
This really should not be a factor in deciding to purchase, but in this case, I do not recommend the purchase until Philips-Norelco can correct that problem.
That's not really surprising. It is often hard to find the replacement heads for a regular shaver in a regular store, so am not surprised that you have had a hard time finding the replacement parts in a retail establishment.
All parts for the various BodyGroom models are available directly from Philips.com Go to the website, select Contact and Support, then select Personal Care, then Mens Grooming, and finally Bodygroom. The website will display the various models. Click on the appropriate model and on the left will be a link for Parts & Accessories. True, you will have to wait a few days for shipping, but I am sure you can request expedited shipping, too. I wouldn't be so quick to pitch the shaver. Good Luck.

I am from Ontario Canada and the bodygroomer has been available for a few years. I am quite hairy and always hated having hair on my back. I am able to reach most spots and my wife will finish off my back. It is both a shaver and clipper if tilted. I already replaced the blades once but could not buy a second set as the company is coming out with a new design.
It does not shave as close as a blade. I use a blade for my chest and stomach. The bodygroomer works great for the genital area and upper legs. It is not as close as a blade but I do not get the red pimples when using it.
A combination of both works great. I would recommend it.

According to the Philips website, the original Bodygroom BG2020 (and the related BG2022 - silver and chrome casing) were released in 2007. The newer/newest model BG2030 with separate shaver and trimmer heads was released in 2008. Both models use the same replacement shaving foil. Part number BG2000. Ordered direct from the Philips store, minimum order is 2 foil heads, but they offer free shipping.
Also found the replacement foils available through Amazon and Target.com among others.

Hey: I'm as much a nudist as anyone here and I have tried some stuff you might like to know about. First, the Bodygroom is great. It is a shaver and trimmer and well worth the money. I am moderately hairy, but it's all like steel wool: sharp, thick, black hair. A total pain to get rid of. The Bodygroomer works the best and easiest EVERYWHERE of anything I've ever tried. I'll never look like the guy on the box, but I look great for me after using it. Like using it down there, on/near/around that! I have had no pain in any intimate regions. Get it on EBAY or AMAZON, if it's not available in your area. Shaving with cream and razors takes forever and you get red bumps. To which point: try "Tend Skin", it's basically a lot of asprins dissolved in alcohol, but takes care of the red bumps from shaving. Now, the tanning issue, we all want one, but can't/won't/shouldn't get a "real" one. So, now, Gents, start your credit cards. There is a really great product from Japan called "Shiseido: Brilliant Bronze Quick Self-Tanning Gel". $40 bucks a 5oz. pop on Macy's, but it is really great. Just have someone do your back and do it every couple-a-days and you will be tan. I mean Luis Miguel tan. I'm a pasty, middle-aged Caucasian guy who looks like I got back from, oh, gee, Cap d' Agde, or someplace swell like that. So, there you have it....always trying to hep' my nudist brothers out.
