i started to shave to make my penis look bigger! now it depends on whether i'll be going to a beach or not - i normally shave most of it off before going to the beach - although with irish weather i probably need protection from the cold more than most so maybe i should stop!

I personally prefer the shaved look, simply because I had way too much to begin with. Before I shaved my chest and pubic hair, I kind of looked like a wookie. However the upkeep is a bit of a pain, since it grows back very quickly.

In reference to "MJ_KC's" Post and quote by "al1inaz" [Two previous]:

I agree with MJ_KC's comment about the Bare to Breakers Organization/organizers: "I would have to call this lack of wisdom or simple ignorance"

Bare2Breakers is a [Non Naturist or Nudist] group of "Demonstrators" who "Streak" in various forums of costume and nudity without much organization or authority within and among another Groups annual foot race across San Francisco from the bay to the breakers where the Organization "Bay to Breakers" state the following are PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES:

The following activities are not permitted. The SFPD may arrest or cite violators.

Public consumption of alcohol (including kegs, bottles, and cans).
Participating naked.
Roller blades, skateboards and bicycles are not allowed on the course.
Animals are not allowed on the course.
Plastic bags for warm-ups.

Being a Public demonstration by a group, police are notified and tolerate nudity on the race course only, organized by another group "Bay to Breakers" who are the organizers, host, and manage registration, promotion, media, and the event operation, pre and post events.

San Francisco and SFPD San Francisco Police Department is one of the most Nudist friendly and tolerant Cities in the United States, but only at pre arranged organized events, gatherings, and public demonstrations in certain pre arranged areas, such as Gay pride, Bicycle, Foot, Walks, Folsom Street event, Art, Environment, Energy, Medical, and others.

As you can tell from the excellent INA Clothesfree.com excellent multi-media coverage, reporting, and posting of video and images on http://www.clothesfree.com site and domains, Bare2Breakers does not have much authority, influence, or say in their negative comments on un-adornment, being un-painted, natural, being shaved, smooth, or hairless while nude at someone else’s event and media coverage.

Only recently since the "Bay to Breakers" event has Bare2Breaker group ever mentioned or related to the words Naturist or Nudist on their website in scorn, and envy of excellent and expedient multi-media coverage of "Nudes in the News" at another’s event before they could find media on their demonstration and disorganized but tolerated "Streaking" merged into and among another’s annual event called "Bay to Breakers"

This Bay to Breakers Participant hasn't been persuaded by Bare2breakers to be un-adorned, un-painted, or un-smooth! [INA Photo]:

The Bare to Breakers people are crashing someone elses event and then they have the audacity to demand that people do things their way.

Sounds like they have too high of an opinion of their authority. It would be different if they sponsored their own event, but this is not their event. Other people might decide to crash the event themselves and have their own opinion as to how to dress or not dress.

I'm also a marathon runner and a cyclist and I feel that shaving my legs help, especially when running in shorts in the rain, the water does not cling to my legs as much so my legs don't feel as heavy (although this could be psychological).

Anyway, my wife likes me shaved and I do think I look better, although some people mmight think it's weird (or I'm weird for shaving all over), but no one has said yet. Then again, who cares what they think, it's my body and I should be able to do whatever I want with it.

I understand that swimmers in high school are told to shave. I read that somewhere. I have to agree, as there's nothing more disgusting than to watch a swimmer (even in the Olympics) who has body hair. I can see armpit and pubic hair, but the rest should be gone.

I shave my face and trim my body. I am a hiker and I often suffer cuts and scraps. I hate how removing bandages and tapes pull the hair and how the hair can get into a cut and cause infection.

But I don't "shave". I don't want to look "endocrinologically challenged" if I have to go to an emergency room.

As a Jew I am commanded "not to harvest the corners of the fields" (which is why Orthodox Jews have those funny sideburns) so I guess once I got over not having paiyous (sp?) trimming became easier. grin>

I just like to keep mine tidy & trimmed short everywhere. Ive tried shaving everything off in the past...it felt great, but I soon got tired of having to shave, cos once I shave a certain area, the next area would look funny if left unshaven...soon I'd have to shave every inch of my body that has hair...my back & legs included. It eventually became kinda hard to maintain & especially when its at the stubble stage, it kinda left me with itches & rashes. So with by trimming, all Ive gotta do is set the trimmer/clipper to a certain level & just 'mow' away!

After years of itching, picking, scratching, etc., I've been shaving my pubic area for a couple of years. Feels SOOOOOOOO much better. I use a Seiko Cleancut and get no bumps, rash, or other problems. Once a month or 2 I use a blade to get started over really close. Applying Vitamin E oil for a couple nights after the blade shave takes care of any scrapes, nicks, etc.

I find that shaving the private area definately has an advantage when exercising and especially when running. Prior to shaving, I experienced the hair around by scrotum to become very uncomfortable with the briefs that were a part of the running shorts. What a difference it has made by removing the hair. I am clean and no more uncomfort.

Ken,

People shave for various reasons. For starters, I model. Be thankful you don't have any of that kind of hair (yet). If you think it looks funny, there are several people, including myself, that would disagree. Damn, it itches after you shave there!

Nude in the North
09-03-2005, 06:51 AM
Hmmm, I think it itches worse when it's not shaved. And I don't mean the stubble growing back. I mean it itched worse before I ever shaved it or when I don't shave for months.

Here's a couple shaving tips.

Take a Bath / Shower first. Shaving is easier when the hair is softened and oil free.

Clean the area well. This is the same for your neck as well as any other area. Shaving is going to remove some skin and possibly even cut the tops off of some tiny bumps on your skin. If your not clean they will become infected. That's one reason why you get the little red bumps all over the shaved area.

Use a NEW High quality razor. Areas that you don't shave often are probably going to have pretty tender skin. An old dull razor is going to cut you far worse than a new one.

Lather up. Keep the skin slippery so the blade slides smoothly over the skin. If your blade is pulling against the skin you need to re moisten the area or add more shaving lotion.

If you still have problems or discomfort then perhaps shaving just isn't going to work for you. But you might find that after several "shaves" your skin will become more accustomed to the blade and some of the discomfort will subside.

Good luck and be carefull.

I think shaving of gentlemen's bits is frought with various dangers. As for me, a semi-regular (perhaps every 3 months) "trim" with a set of electric clippers with a number 2 comb attachment is about as risky as I get.

If I don't trim then I get to look reasonably unruly "down there" and greying pubes are definitely not a good look!!! I see it as a bit of a social necessity - after all, you wouldn't turn up anywhere important looking facially untidy, would you? On that basis neither should you be "groin-ally untidy"!

Cheers to all!

I totally agree with others who have said that after a while your skin toughens up and you get used to it. Really though, since I started trimming/shaving a while back, I don't have crotch itch like I did before, or for that matter the pain of hairs getting caught in clothes.

This is an interesting topic I just came across. Definately a trend these days towards less body hair on men. Years ago you would rarely see men who shave, and those who did were considered a bit excentric. Now a days, I see lots of men who are removing ever increasing amounts of hair from their bodies. From a women's perspective, I tend to like the smooth look on a man. Just my personal preference, since if I took a poll amongst my female nudist friends, they would probably be 50/50.

FYI - when I first started to shave off my pubies, I too would get those nasty red bumps. After my skin got used to being shaven I stopped getting them. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif Ginger, one of the main reasons I believe you see more of the male gender shaving is that there are more of us into exercising. Therefore, shaving makes it much more confortable, especially if you are a runner, or swimmer. I especially, found it to be much more confortable. However, keeping oneself maintained in this fashion, requires additional maintenance(hygene).

I have shaved on and off for a few years, but encouraged by my girlfriend, started doing it steady about 3 years ago. I would like to shave my whole body but don't think its practical.

She likes it, I like it. Thats what its all about. Personal preference.

I have a couple of questions.
If I stop shaving and let it grow back, it takes about 3 or so months to get back to normal but doesn't seem as thick or as full. Is this just my imagination?

Second, it grows back, so why doesn't pubic hair have to be cut regularly like head hair?

Don't do it!!! If you don't like razer burn, you certainly will not like the chemical burn that Nair will provide you

DPs such as Nair work well for some. Always folow the directions and skin test first. Pay attention ot the time limit.

Generally they do not work well on scrotum, it's too tender and thin and will burn quickly. Women of my acquaintance who use DPs, generally stuff cotton between their labia to avoid burning the inner lips. I guess the rule would be, don't put it where the skin is pink.

I prefer sugaring/waxing, DPs, shaving in that order.

But, again, follow the directions, patch test the skin 24 hours before using and do not exceed time limit and you really should have no problem.

You can't just slather the stuff on like sun tan lotion and leave it for half an hour and not encounter some problems.

Nair is not made for the genital region and will burn on contact...There maybe some other products on the market that might work, but most tell you to not apply to the genital or anal region.

Also be careful where the NAIR drips. If it get's on your sensitive inner thighs - major ouch. The chemicals burn your skin.

Due to cycling I started to shave my legs very early.
Then I have shaved on and off my pubic hair for several years. Finally I stayed smooth down there and started occasionally to shave my armpits and then arms. So my whole body is hairless. After a while my girlfriend suggested to use epilators for better results. Which I did.

i have to trim regularly or else my below average penis gets lost in the forest!

id love to shave but have always been afraid of shaving my scrotum, as i cut the face off myself when i shave my beard and i can SEE myself when i do that!

also ive quite hairy legs so it might look silly to just have a "halo" of baldness in my crotch

I usually just trim with scissors, and I did try shaving just a little at the base of my penis but I ended up with problems with the glands so won't bother again, just back to trimming. I'd feel weird without hair there anyway, same as on my face now too probably, I'd feel naked lol

You might want to consider shaving in the shower with water running. Continually keeping the area wet with the shower helps the razor go smoothly and reduces nicks. And, unless you're a hemophiliac, a nick would not be fatale.[QUOTE]Originally posted by bmolloy:

I continue to be amazed of the non acceptance of those that profess acceptance of everyone, regardless of certain body decoration. Maybe I'm reading into your post but calling a fellow nudist "juvenille" just because they shave off their pubic hair doesn't seem to fit the open mindedness we expect from our textile counterparts. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I've done every kind of shaving/trimming to my head, but I have very sensitive skin. Half the time I shave my face, I break out. I don't think risk nicking even more sensitive areas, and I'd hate to have that area break out. :/ So I just let it grow naturally. It never gets in the way of anything.

With my skin breaking out all the time, alot of people think I'm younger than I am, I don't need anthing else making me look any younger.

It looks weird having black hair everywhere else except my abs, which is why I don't shave (other than my face, which I won't be getting to for another few months... it's that time of the year to grow a beard!). Well, I fear I'm a little clumsy...

Yes, I am shaving. I think that shaved bodies look neater and actually, I don't like to see a woman with hairy sex or armpits. But I understand that some women may like to keep their hair. It a personal business and everybody is free to shave or not.

Since the "FAQ" category was suggested and implemented, it has not been utilized at all.

If I had the time I would like to try and list hyperlinks to the most talked about subjects as this one, then members would know or could be pointed to FAQ to find posts already on the subject. As it is now there is a lot of duplicate posting and waste of bandwidth as newer posters are unaware of the many threads on shaving, smoothies, etc.

My personal observation visiting resorts and beaches is that women have the highest rate of being smooth, shaving or serious trimming, with men probably around 50 - 60%.

Yesterdays Picture of the Day shows the volunteer Nudes in the nudes anchors are mostly smooth or trimmed, and Greg sporting a new freshly done smooth genital and pubes area. Completely a personal preference, but has some trendy following. The newest Nudes in the News from the falls and corky's new location will be published as Nudes in the News Video Edition number 169 in the next few days.

My girlfriend and I both shave together in the shower. She likes a landing strip and I trim my scrotum, around the base and my pubes into a medium sized rectangle.

I liked that alraeady a long time like lining the hair on my legs and chest with the shower- well that didn"t last long but looked nice to me but fel nasty this way -when trimmed- it still looks good and feels good aswel

unfortuantely for the last almost 2 months i have been unable to shave anything other than my face. i badly broke my wrist and temporarily lost the use of my left hand. it is now improving but i still do not have enough use of it to try and use it for shaving and unfortunately i don't know of any way of shavong my pubic hair one handed. i will be glad when i can use my hand again and be able to get rid of all that hair. for the last 3 years i have been shaving regularly and now i have been forced to stop. i am not sure yet how long it will be before i get normal use of my hand back.

You know you may be right for some of the places that you go. I on the other hand have and will shave for a very long while and do also go to clubs and resorts as well. I am not just sitting behind the computer as you say. As for this topic here, some that are interested in possibly shaving for the first time may actually get ideas and ways to do so without the irritating bumps or cutting oneself needlessly. If you don't like the topic, then why are you here? Let it be and as I say over and over when people start to argue and get angry "Can't we all just get along"!

I shave and I love the feeling of no hair. I actually feel more naked, more free with no hair, does anyone else have that same feeling? I also like the feel and the look much better shaved. Been shaving for around 2yrs and man I wish I started a long time ago!

I agree fully with you, more naked, adding the cleaning feeling is amazing! I have been a smoothie since 1982 when I had to do it before a vasectomy. I shave nearly everyday and love it

I have been shaving "down under" for just over a year using a Gillette Fusion razor. Although it did an excellent job I was bothered with itch. I recently purchased a Phillips Bodygroomer and find that using it I have lost the itch. It doesn't work as well as the Gillette razor but to be without the itch makes it worthwhile.

Now I shave every day withthe bodygroomer and about once a week use the Gillette razor to fine tune it.

The bodygroomer is much slower and much is missed but at least you avoid the itch.

I notice of the guests coming to our complex more and more are shaven, about 60% of men and 40% of women.

I'm gathering up my courage to do the same but it seems it will have to be a regular thing every other day or so,which could be a bit of a chore.

How often do you need shave and what are the tips for not getting a rash?

What are the benefits?

Thanks for you advice

Pete I find that it becomes part of my daily ritual but probably doesnt take more than 2 minutes each morning. I first used a Gillette 3 blade razor which does a great job but I did get a lot of itch. Now I use a Phillips Bodygroomer which is slower and doesnt get all the hair (my hair is blond so easy to miss some). About every few days I polish it up with the safety razor. Very little itch now.

In a situation like yours would be great as you are probably naked most of the time. Great to have the breeze on the balls without it being hindered by the hair. It also does tend to emphasize your equipment and have heard others say that your equipment appears larger. I also find I dont sweat as much in the groin area or if I do it evaporates more quickly.

Give it a try and let us know what you think of it after a few weeks.

I tried to shave this last summer. When I wake-up for work at 3am I have a small amount of alone time. one time I tried to shave outside so the hair could just blow away in the wind. But, I wasn't sure how to do my scrotum. What do all of you us when the hair is long in that area? Also do you shave the arm pits also?

GrayWolf
10-11-2007, 07:53 PM
Shaving the scrotom with a saftey razor works for me and at least a few others. Albeit, it's a three bladed womens safety razor that I change pretty darn often. Just as with all shaving, streach the skin fairly tight and have at it. I've found that stealing my wife's 'bikini bare' shaving loation and using a product called 'bump stop' after shave loation keeps the red 'bumps' away. After a couple of months you don't even need the after shave unless you've gone over the same spot too often.

I shave down there, but not with a razer blade. I use an electric trimmer for my chest and my pubic area, as my pics on this site can show. I only do it every few days or so, more if I'll be doing something nude and outside, like going to the beach or a resort.

I've been shaving now for over 10 years and really like the look and feel. The way my hair grows I have to do it almost every day because I hate the stubble. I shave in the shower using a 3-bladed razor. I just wish that there was some way that I could shave my own back.

We both wax now rather than shave. There's a place near where we live that does both male and female waxing. Once you get over the initial embarrassment and pain it's a lot less hassle than shaving everyday. We vary our styles a little bit form bare to strips or triangles etc.

We get waxed once a month. I have to admit that it is painful, especially the first time. You definitely get used to it though and it's worth it for the results. Hubby found it embarrassing at first, baring all his bits to the beautician, but she's an ex-nurse so has seen it all before!

47 pages! Well I been away, but I can read all that in one go...
so people have a lot to say about shaving then. Shows what you are thinking about.

Forgot am in my 20s now, but I do shave now, since most of this year. It was a change, a girl suggests it and you dont go back. Then with lake swimming in Germany, it just feels cleaner, so no animals can hold on or get caught...nice thought.
It also helps because I do modelling and I think for an artists model its easier to stick with form and not annoying detail that hair makes for.

Thats ok, I wasnt serious, but since I looked and there's nothing so irritating (you have to be allergic) in there, there's no problem. Where do you have hairs growing thats so different to skin of a girls legs?
Maybe american products are more harsh?
Not to shave would be the correct natural way.

I have used nair in the past, and you just have to be careful is all. There is a new nair out there that is formulated for men. I haven't tried this one as of yet, but will I am sure one day. As a teenager I first tried trimming my pubes very short. That did not last long as I received a lot of comments in the locker room about the lack of hair so I let it grow for a awhile and just trimmed the edges. A year or so later I decided to trim the whole area again but not as short. After not getting any comments just kept trimming shorter and shorter then finally decided to shave completely.I have been completely shaved in the genital area ever since. The look and feel of having no hair is great!!!

I just trimmed almost all the hair off of my arms in addition to the rest of my body hair being shaved. I did this because I have been getting numerous blood tests and every time the tape or band aid is removed, it was ripping out a bunch of hair. Not my idea of fun.

My response if someone asked me would be to tell them the specific reason or to just tell them that I did it because I felt like it.

There is a long term solution; if you really wanted you could get yourself lasered. Of course, it's expensive and it's permanent. Will the day ever come when any of use would ever want hair again?

have shaved for like 20 plus years. You know you are comfortable doing it when you don't even think about your annual physical at the doctor's office. My wife prefers likes things smooth. First time I went skinny dipping with a family member I was a little nervous but nothing was said. The next time the opportunity arose at the family swimming hole, not only was I smooth so was the brother-in-law.

I shave just around the base of my penis and my scrotum. I started after having surgery for a cyst on my tailbone back in '76. I figured since I had to keep my backside shaved or risk a recurrance of the cyst I might as well shave my genital area too. In the summer I shave my whole front, chest and belly and pubic.

I love the look of any female with a shaved or closely trimmed pubic area. It just looks more appealling. :D

Ya'll take care. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I first shaved when I was around 19. Then only did it about once a year for the next 10 years. For the last 3 or 4 years I have kept my chest and pubic area shaved, except for a few occasions where I thought I'd let it grow back. Last summer I visited a nudist resort when my pubic hair was at the longest it had been in years and I actually felt kind of weird, like I was trying to draw attention to the area. Not because everyone else was shaved (I wasn't keeping track), but I guess because pubic hair doesn't feel natural on me anymore.

I'v been shaving pubic area since 1990 - when a girlfriend first saw me, she said,"OH, Mark - that's not attractive." She gave me a haircut there!

I'd never even thought about it - I shave every 2-3 weeks and let it grow out a bit, don't keep it always bare, but do maintain it.

And with nude hiking, I don't want any areas that could hide an intruder! (But with 40% deet all over, no little visitor wants anything to do with me...)

I also shave my, ummm, backside from time to time - since seeing part of an autopsy where the poor dead guy had a FOREST in his .......... well, you know. Looked AWFUL!

I had to shave a little bit when I went to the dermetologist last year...just my luck I get a woman doctor! I had her remove a mole on the upper left portion of my pubic area that was giving me concern. Normally I don't mind but since the rest of what I had was what naturally had come in during puberty... after that I've started thinking about it, especially since my follow-up is in about 4 months. Might trim down just a bit soon then keep it that way to get used to it, look a little better. I'm sure she's seen it all and is used to it but then again who knows!
