Well? Who shaves, or rather removes their pubes otherwise? I know quite a few nudists do, but it seems I'm one of the few teens who do.

I started shaving after hernia surgery to keep down the itching and never stopped. I have been shaving now for 6 years and love it. As a teen,I tried it a couple of times, but let it grow back. Seems we get smarter the closer we get to 60.

I shave and I love the feeling of no hair. I actually feel more naked, more free with no hair, does anyone else have that same feeling? I also like the feel and the look much better shaved. Been shaving for around 2yrs and man I wish I started a long time ago!

there could probably be a couple of other catagories as well. i shaved once, but did not hate it, nor did i like it. so i voted shaved and hated it since there was no other catagory close. there could also be a catagory of who trims.

Nope. Never. I also haven't shaved my beard since college twenty years ago, although I trim it occasionally. And until last fall I hadn't cut my hair for years; it was down to the bottoms of my shoulder blades. I loved it. Natural, natural, naturism! (I had it cut because of job interviews--unsuccessful as it turned out. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif But that's another story.)
I have shaved ever since my pubic hair started to come in. I love the breezy feeling of it.

i just got back from haulover beach, miami and at least half the guys shave their pubes. the other 25% look to be trimmed. i am natural right now, but i might trim later (about 1'' long and than i let it grow back).

My wife and daughter think men should have hair. I'm smooth naturally on my chest and hairy in the usuall spots. Once in a while I trim if it gets to be a hassel gettinng caught in my shorts or interfearing with lovemaking.

I've noticed a strong trend among the midwestern nudists I've encountered. Last year smooth women went from a minority to a slight majority over just one summer. (Personally I kinda prefer hair, but I guess being clean shaven makes a lot more sense than the trimmed 'landing strip' many women had.)
This year it looks like the same trend is happening among the guys. It really is an astounding change over a very short time.
I am not smooth. Not at all. I'm very hairy, it would take a good size team to shave me down all over. I've seen a few 'hairy smoothies' who only shave their pubic areas - I am almost always successful in suppressing laughter.

i dont really shave, i just trim everything down there so it doesnt get out of control. i just think it would be a little wiered for me to shave it all off but that is just me.i do admit it feels pretty good once you shave the hair off.

Originally, I thought I would hate shaving....Then one day, I decided to trim it a bit because it looked like a mess. Then I trimmed it some more...and more...to the point where it couldn't get shorter. So, I shaved it. I haven't gone back since.
If you think you'll hate it, or if you think it's weird, try it. You may like it. Oh, and the red bumps go away in a few days.

Shavers,
About 2 years ago I asked my then GF to shave and be a smoothie. She did and looked awesome. She then asked me to shave about a month afterwards. I did and enjoy the feel of being smooth. Neither one of use would think of becoming "hairy". It feels and looks great on both of us. Several people of our local club are also smoothies.

I trimmed at first but it just felt better and better the shorter it got until one day I just shaved it bare. I liked the feel so much that I just continued to stay smooth. It just feels more sensitive especially when I cuddle up at night.

I shave. Ooh, like anyone cares! I have very little hair on my chest and my leg hair ain't exactly anything to write home about so, at least to me, it seemed that the patch of dark pubic hair seemed out of place against my pale, somewhat hairless body. That's my reason for shaving.
NSB13, I've probably been shaving longer than you have had your pubes. In the beginning, most teens welcome the "hair down there" as a sign that they are maturing. I was like that as well. But some of us after a while, for various reasons, decide to just shave it off.
And hey, Wolverina, I like your avatar pic. Looks just like you! /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Shaving makes me feel lighter, breezier and less sticky in humid weather. I use electric shavers and beard trimmers so i don't irritate the skin too much. Also it makes showering a lot easier since the saltiness on your skin comes off a lot quicker if you don't have a lot of hair to rinse off. Try it, you might like it...and if you don't...so how long does it take to grow back? /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I consider the fact that I shave and that I'm a nudist 2 entirely different subjects. I went to my first nude beach (Haulover) 4 years ago after being a home nudist since college. I started shaving 3 years ago because my girl friend at the time wanted to try us both being shaved. In both cases, I liked the way I felt, but for completely different reasons. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Now, I'm always shaved and I go to San Onofre as much as I can. However, it is merely coincidence that I enjoy both. Just like not all nudists shave, many people that are uncomfortable with public nudity shave.
I tried shaving a couple of times. I liked the sensation at first, but the hair growing back...quite a different story.
That was also during a my shaving phase.

Mike

Hi Mike (and all you other shavers or otherwise)!
I'm no teen (well, I was once, back in the early seventies!), but I have shaved my pubes since then, and rarely have I had a "full bush" (no, not a president, either!) since then. As you can see from my avatar, I wear a full beard all the time, and I usually don't remove my chest hair, because my wife prefers it that way. She doesn't complain about me shaving my pubes, though. She's not a nudist, and unfortunately, being from a northern European background, doesn't shave her body hair at all usually.
I have noticed here in Australia that there are more nudists who trim or completely shave their pubes than those who don't, and it is also quite common for young women to have a "Brazilian", even if they don't go nude. Many of the young ladies at my workplace wax their pubes so they look better in revealing swimwear. It's no surprise that if pubic grooming is commonplace among the young, then obviously there will be a similar trend among nudists.
Be nude when you can!

I shave. I wear a bikini, so at first I just shaved the exposed area. But that left me with this little tuff right in the middle. LOL! It looked real stupid, so I now do a complete job. Besides, if a person is going to be nude, be NUDE
I think it looks nicer anyway.

My female cousin has a big triangle of hair and she never trims it. At a textile beach a lot of it shows on either side of her bikini bottom but she is very comfortable with it and doesn't care if people see her pubic hair.

Shave?? Nope, never, not here, noooooo.
I'm like a vampire in front of a cross.
I was shaved once for surgery and I looked like a little boy on steroids, then came the itching. Another time, I was talked into trimming. "Hated" that too.
I'm one of those that have soft hair, unlike ones I've dated that could compete with a porcupine. Now THEY "SHOULD" shave, yes.

I agree with FloridaDavid, there should be a category for "trimming". I tried shaving but hated the "growing back" part. Miserable! I love to trim and have it designed like an upside down pyramid now. I find it fund and easy to maintain. I have a goatee and moustache, hardly any chest hair any I personally prefer my pubic hair but I see swimmers at my college who shave it all off and some who have it stream-lined and they look great, but I just don't like the stuff coming back in. When my body hair started growing back I would need a good scratch in the most inopportune times and I would be a nervous wreck until I could get off by myself and relive the itching. Nude in the North
07-12-2003, 03:54 AM
I have been shaving for over 10 years now. Way before I even considered going nude in public.
I use Nair to remove my back hair where I can't reach with a razor and sometimes I even use it on the front parts.
One thing with using Nair is that you don't want to leave it on too long around the genitals. It will burn your skin. But it works great if you follow the 4 minute rule in the directions.
I have gone over a week or two without shaving from time to time. I have never had a problem with Itching as the hair grows back. I shave my entire back and from my knees to my tummy most of the time.
Shaving is a personal choice for all of us. It's not right or wrong anymore than the choice you make on how long to grow the hair on your head. People should be allowed to make their own decisions on how they choose to look.
It's the people that choose to condemn or ridicule others for how they look that need to change.
There's nothing wrong with looking the way you want to look. Life is supposed to be fun, Not a guilt trip.

I have only been shaven once for surgery. Didn't like the itching when it was growing back. Also don't like it feeling rough after a days growth like a stubbly beard. I have lots of hair on my legs and arms so I would look a little wierd if I shaved. I do keep it trimmed to a short length, usually about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. This keeps the hair from getting tangles and pulled.

I could never shave it would take too long and I would look like a beluga whale. I'm fifteen(almost sixteen)and I have a full beard and mustache.I have thick hair all over my body, last halloween I went to a party naked and no one noticed they thought I was bigfoot.First of all, I don't even entertain the thought of all the hassle of shaving. I mean, how would I get my back? I couldn't bear the thought of putting a blade near my testicles either.Anyway my girlfriend likes me hairy so I don't shave anything. I haven't gotten a haircut since i was eleven. I figure why waste all that time shaving when you could be naked and happy instead?

It's true that shaving won't suit everyone. Luckily (because I prefer the smooth feel) my hair doesn't grow fast, so I can afford to shave only once a week, and it takes about 15 minutes. I'm a dab hand with the razor now.
A few weeks ago I was at a naturist beach, and had to move back up the beach because the incoming tide was threatening to deluge me, laying there. I moved back and found a spot but was near a young swimming-costumed couple. It was obvious that they were discussing my shaved genitals, with a little giggling thrown in as well. I didn't mind this - maybe it was novel to them. Maybe he or she went back that evening and tried it too - who knows.

I've shaved a couple of times but I don't do it actively. I usually just trim when it gets kind of long.
I started shaving my pubes about a year ago and love it. Never have had a problem with itching. Mush cooler in the summer and a lot less odor year round.

YO MAMA SHAVES hehehehhehehe sorry, I am in a weird mood...I really hate this topic so I should just ignore it but I am not going to. Who said less odor? I have hair and I don't have odors from my pubes? What's that all about...that might be solved be showers once or twice a day...not to sound ugly or be attacking anyone's personal hygein...oops I can't spell that word...anyway, I just never heard of odors coming from a guy's pubes. Maybe the poster was not a guy, females have odor problems sometimes..but that has nothing to do with pubic hair, it has to do with the vagina...can I say that here? lol sorry again I told you I was in a weird mood...bye

Anyway, what was meant by odor is that the hair holds odor. Hair, for some reason, holds smells realllly well, regardless of what the smell is. So, no hair = no odor holding power....

Okay, my qeird question is...
I shave my body with a razor...okay not sooo uncommon...
But what I would like to know is how everyone shaves their butt...especially in the crack of the butt...(I am trying to make this sound as un-nasty as possible)...
I used to use Nair in there, but it started leaving some serious uncomfortable burning sensations...(chemical burn)...
Please let me know...
Oh yeah and the scrotum too...i get nervous shaving that...

I stated in another thread that I have been a "smootie" for over 25 years. It started out as an experiment for the sexual pleasure (if you haven't tried it, you'd be surprised) and just became an obsession since then. I'm very glad that so many other guys (and gals) are becoming converts.
Miami_Newdist- to answer your query, I shave my anus as well as my front. I simply put a thin layer of shaving cream on and use a safety razor. I put one foot up on the tub while standing, spread 'em, and carefully slide the razor from the back towards the front until I have both sides smooth, reapplying more lather as necessary. I have never tried using Nair "there" or on my pubes or scrotum (hate the smell of that stuff). Also, to answer your other question about shaving the scrotum- I apply shaving cream to my scrotum, place my foot on the tub again, stretch the loose skin and stroke the razor in both directions to ensure a clean shave. I don't always have the skin on the scrotum stretched. I have found that being careful, and using a fairly new razor, has given me the ability to be smooth on my scrotum, anus and crotch without fear of being mistaken for John Wayne Bobbitt's brother. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
This reminded me of a joke I heard from a national comedian. He was in awe that Lorena Bobbitt had gotten off scott free on her trial of dismembering her husband's penis. As you might recall, after she cut it off she drove for some time and then threw it out her car window. The comedian's punch line was- "The jury couldn't find her guilty of anything? They couldn't even get her for littering?????" /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif LMAO!!!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Anyway, thanks for this forum. I've never gone completely smooth. I prefer the trimmed look but in my case I've taken a lot off and reduced the pubes to a triangular patch that stands above my privates. I like the look a great deal. I've been at Wreck Beach in Vancouver a lot this week and have noted that there are several people out there with the same or similar style of trim job. I've trimmed/shaved for about two years and there is no longer any itching, especially if I shave after a bath.

I trim my beard, that's it. Oh, and my ears. And nostrils. But THAT'S all. OK, I've also de-Brezhnev'ed my eyebrows, and removed the unibrow bridge. But other than that I'm fully natural!
I've fully embraced body-hair acceptance.
Well ... it's embraced me.
No, I'm not wearing a sweater.
Yes I'm comfortable, even though I'm naked and its just 62 degrees.
Even back in my bicycling roadie days I didn't shave my legs. That would be ridiculous. Its all or nothing when it comes to body shaving a sasquatch. And I didn't have a team of volunteers big enough to do the job.
I heard of a guy of similar hirsutitude who is going the electrolysis route. Starting with his back. A parcel at a time. He'll be done after 3 years and $12,000. The recently lasered areas tan funny.

Yes! I do shave and trim. I like to keep "Waldo & the twinns" clean shaven and trim the playing field to about a 1"nap. I t feels just fine like that - clothes on or off and itching is not a problem. I have also had grooming sessions with my female partner which is a testimony of trust and confidence in the hands of each other.
Although I believe nudismis about "being naked" not about "seeing naked" I think a groomed pubic area is more attractive just as a well trimmed beard or mustache.

I've just turned sixty and shave my pubes almost as often as my face. My wife liked it the first time she felt it and now has me shave her pubes. We both like to "free" feeling we enjoy from doing so.
I trim.
I have my own clippers. Buzz cut the head every sunday and when done...just move right on down. buzz the pubes, and the scrotum, and bit of the surrounding hair. I wear a speedo type suit when am at the Y., I hate those baggies....they make swimming more difficult, and when sitting the whirlpool fill with air and look really funny, besides making me float. I think all the excess hair sticking out all around a speedo type suit looks really gross.

A very interesting subject actually. I feel that people, in general, look best as nature painted them. Though I must say that if you are a particularly hairy individual, you probably look good with a trim. Some people that shave totally look a little silly shaved, but I suppose the feeling of being "nude" is enhanced to a degree. And who am I to judge what another person thinks makes them look good?
I find that I feel the most "nude" when I am "natural". I am almost hairless otherwise and I suppose that may mean that I really like whatever hair I have ...and that I like others to see it!

mikepsd - its not embarassing to be small and furry, that is the way you are and any nudist should accept you for who you are. if anyone is judging you on size or hairyness, they are probably not a nudist. and thanks for admitting that sometimes trimming pubic hair is done to exaggerate the penis, some people hide from this truth and its good to see someone admit they like to trim for this reason. personally, i trim so that the long hairs don't get all caught up on my penis, i don't care if my weener looks bigger or not.

Florida-David, your delightful comments never cease to put a smile on my face. The comment about trimming to make the "weener" look longer reminds me of yesterday at the college gym shower. I noticed that a lot of the "rookie" hockey team members were either shaved smooth or trimmed and they were constantly pulling on their equipment. It was obvious that they wanted to make an impression on the seasoned team members and the size of their penis was clearly a "big" deal to all of them. While sitting in the sauna with the big opening facing all the shower area, one can see all the antics and it can be quite amusing...to say the least. As I have said before, I trim a little but it is to avoid pubic hair from getting caught in my jeans [ouch]zipper...because I do not wear underwear... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Snoboy. I am LOL. You always keep me in stitches. I used to live at the Militay Academy at West Point. At the time I was training for a marathon and would hit the showers the same time one of the freshman P.E. classes did as well. It was funny to watch alot of the same antics.
I know that a lot has been said about checking both men and women out a bit when we are naked. That is most definitely true. But homophobia tends to run wild at West Point, so the decorum is definitely never look at a guy below the shoulders. The amusing thing is almost all of them had a tatooes in the groin area (I am not judging anyone can do what they want, incl. piercing, but that is NOT for me!). This obviously draws the eyes to that region. So there is a whole lot of posturing going on in the showers.
BTW, I agree with you on florida-david's input, his openness is quite refreshing. Also, I nwither shave nor trim - for what is worth. Never felt the need.
i trim the scrot, and the pubes, shave the shaft....and i wear button-fly 501's by levi....so i don't worry about anything getting caught in a zipper.....

I somehow have a couple of small but embossed necked moles in the place where pubic hair may bend around and cause a big pain and bloodflood.
So as I started to shave some 25 years ago I did it every two days while find a better thing the electric tweezer.
It allows to be used once in the month, however it is little bit painy (but far not too ill-painy). Now I am in this around two years and can ensure that each next time it is less and less painful. And sense is VERY good after.
Yesterday it was a turn to do it again and I feel much better and cleaner today, really. Even if You shave off, the red bumps are reaction of skin what are not trained to do enough. Simply keep doing and bumps shall come less and smaller by the time. I quess the first two years, while skin desensitizes. After this You shall feel bad if You NOT to be shaven instead, I bet it.

I starting shaving the shaft and the sack when I starting using rubbers, hate pulling the hairs down there. Now I do it cause I like the feeling. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I shave my scrotum and around the root of my penis, trimming the rest to around 1/2 inch long. I have gone smooth at times, mainly when I was 18-20 yrs old, but with lots of body hair this looks stupid, so not anymore. My girlfriend originally just trimmed, but she is now a smoothy, and loves it so much she wonders why she was so cautious about it years ago.

Well I do shave my scrotum and trim the other pubic hair rather short. My wife trimes her pubic hai as well and even my daugther shaves her pubic into a model "according the latest fashion"
I started recently to trim my chest hair as wel and wax the hair on my back(I hate those) I saw a number of men in the gym had this chest-hair trim thing and it looked good to me The hair will stay in the direction the grow . I liked that alraeady a long time like lining the hair on my legs and chest with the shower- well that didn"t last long but looked nice to me but fel nasty this way -when trimmed- it still looks good and feels good aswel

Most of the time I shave my pubies and scrotum. A few times I have done my legs with Nair. But, I'm still worried about comments about my having smooth legs even though I like them that way. So far Mom has never said anything about her "missing Nair". http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I never tried shaving my pits...I guess I just think that would be weird even though I don't know why.

I tried shaving my pubic hair off once or twice, used a normal blade razor.
However after nearly being circumcised again, I have gone back to normal.
Apart from that my chest is naturally smooth and the whiskers will never be removed.

I shave when I get my hair cut, which is once every other month. I also dry shave. When I try to use shaving cream, I get razor burn and bump really bad. And Its harder to see what Im doing.
When I first started going clothes free "officially" a month ago, though I've been nude before but been cautious not to be seen (I still wonder why), I posted a thread...somewhere around here...regarding shaving. From my last look, it is still active and ppl are reading and posting.
I am shaved, but not my armpits or above my penis. I use a mach 3 and have used both shaving cream or shampoo (the cheapest stuff is White Rain, strawberry scent, which is what I use). I also noticed at Wal*Mart in the same aisle as the shaving cream, are the razors for women. I picked up a 3-some of little ones, as well as a small bottle of oil (found in the same aisle, just a couple feet away). The oil is used to shave around the anus and scrotum. I have used an electric razor on my sac and got cuts and bleeding, so use a razor. To get to the "crack" in back, you have to picture this...I am laying on the floor, nude, prop the back of my legs to the bed, have a 3'x2' mirror on the bed that I balance with my feet, use a flashlight to help me see. Now, that's more information than everyone wanted to read, but that's what I do. I sometimes use electric on legs, though I still use mach 3 w/shampoo on legs, chest, shoulders, butt and back, as little as is there. Word of caution, though...I noticed that if I didn't put a finger on my nipples, I'd get sliced shaving the hair around them. I use either vaseline or hand lotion after shower or anytime I feel dry.

I am currently teaching Office Candidate. They will be doing a 2 week field problem in which they will have little time for personal hygiene. I did a class on preventative med last year and will do the same again this year. My advice to all is....take the clippers...and trim as close as you can in the pits, and "naughty bits", use baby wipes liberally and powder frequently. It is what I do all the time....trim close and keep it nice and clean...

My wife and I both shave. For us we shave because we both like the smooth feel and we both think it looks better than a full or trimmed bush. Plus by not having any pubic hair it reduces the odor problems as we both participate in lots of sports. Yes showers and soap do that too but body hair still holds the odors. Calling your pubic area naughty bits seems a little immature doesn't it lets call the pubic area what it is pubic area.

Body hair isn't inherently offensive, nor is the faint musk given off by a clean body with normal adult hair patterns. We are socialized to be offended by both.
I have not been socialized to be offended by the sight of those who do shave, I just don't want all the fuss of shaving my head to toe hairy body. I'd rather shave a cat and most cats would rather I not!

I suppose it's down to each person. If it feels comfortable to remain hairy and natural then stay that way, or if you feel better having shaved then do it, to each his own.
Having said that there are probably those who shave because they are exhibitionists and desire the attention. I would never do anything to my body just for the sake of others, only because I wanted to.

Being a Male, the idea of shaving was real odd to me, but my ex wife had the idea, and eventualy we made a party of it one night (enough beer you will do anything).
At first it was the worst thing i had ever experienced, itchy, nasty, just felt weird, but that was over 18 years ago, and now days, i've gone beyond shaving.. perminanat removal of the hair.. yup, electrolasis, Its one of those things that once you try, you dont mind, and after a while you cant imagine going back.
just had the first session this week, so with any luck by summer, shaving wont be a issue any more. Thinking of doing my neck and beard later, shaving every single day (come on girls you know what i'm talking about) is a total pain. espicaly when you can shave your face before work and when you get home you dont feel like you even shaved at all.
Anyone else out there jumped off the deep end and went full out removal?
Just curious.

My wife doesn't shave her pubes Lorri.. I got her to shave completely bare *once*. She simply likes at least some hair, so she doesn't look like a little girl down there she said... I don't think she did, but its her body.
But that was years ago.. I personally prefer body hair on woman. I found out when I was 12 that I just got this funny tingly sensation when I saw a woman raise her arms with hairy armpits. I asked my wife years ago to stop shaving and she did one winter. She loved not having to worry about it. She didn't really see the hair, so it didn't bother her.
She surprised me by going through the summer like that.. she didn't care what others thought that much, she's just like that.

Are you doing electrolysis or laser? I will be doing laser as time and finaces permit - It is faster, less painful, and supposedly as permanent. For people with very dark skin, and/or very light hair, it isn't as effective though.

I think that it is safe to say that more than half of nudist females are shaving now, and a lot of the men (I am a life-long smoothie). This is not strictly a nudist practice either. However, there are still a lot of people that don't shave. It's all a matter of personal preference. Don't feel left out or anything, because you're not alone. If you ever go to any nudist venue, you will encounter many people that don't shave. But if you run into Robin Williams, it's just TrailScout http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just I'd chime in here. This topic always seems to end is a heated debate. Shaving has certainly gained in popularity in recent years. At the nude beach we frequent, I'd say half of the men and more than half of the women are all or mostly shaved. But it really just comes down to personal preference. Having said that...we BOTH shave completely. And we did so PRIOR to our first nude beach experience. We just feel that it look and feels better/cleaner/sexier etc....

I too often shave, and did so long before visiting nude beaches. My reason being I prefered it, Could never understand why people spend thousands on fancy hair-do's and as soon as they get naked there is some tangled forest down below - was always a turn off. (Yes, sexual rather than naturist). As ive got older, i prefer "neatly trimmed" rather than fully shaved as I think the full shaved look is better on a fitter body type - personal preference.

I shave my face about once a week, mostly because I'm a student and I don't have a job http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif
There was a time when beards were considered da bomb, and shaving one's face was indecent. There was a time when afro puffs were cool. There was a time when long hair on your head and unmanaged pubic hair was part of being "real".
Grooming follows fad lines. People should be able to do whatever they want with their own hair, even if they want to dye it purple and spike it. Although, I have yet to see a purple pubic mohawk.

I hate shaving. My facial hair grows so slowly that I can time the real need for a shave by the lunar cycles. If I tried to shave daily my face would be a meat pie.
As for my pubic zone, well, hating to shave in once place kind of helped me to hate shaving in the other. I tried it once and hated it. Now I just trim them enough, carefully with scissors, so that on the occasions when I have to wear pants that the hairs don't get caught in the zipper since underwear has been a personal no no for about 22 years.

Mike,
Well, for starters, I didn't get an erection. I have to say, though, after the first break, I remembered the last movie Barbra Streisand was in and fired a director because she told him, "make me beautiful." I thought about that and almost started laughing, but subdued it.

Always use a moisturiser, such as baby oil, to shave with rather than foam, and always shave with the grain - dont be tempted to shave up. After the event, keep well moisturised, and never wear tight, hot underwear, boxers or other loose clothign is far better.

I started trimming, and liked it, then thought what the heck and shaved, and liked it even more.
But i have a question, it is more a question for the guys. How do you shave your scrotum. I have tried to use hair clippers, but it can be dangerous, and often end up with cuts. I have also tried safety razors, as in Bic, but also quite dangerous. I have found the only way is to pull them tight, and use the Bic, but is there an easier/safer way?

But i have a question, it is more a question for the guys. How do you shave your scrotum. I have tried to use hair clippers, but it can be dangerous, and often end up with cuts. I have also tried safety razors, as in Bic, but also quite dangerous. I have found the only way is to pull them tight, and use the Bic, but is there an easier/safer way?
Swanee,
I buy the cheapest hair shampoo and use that to shave my scrotum. Also, since you're going to ask about the crack, a little further back...in addition, I use kind of like an oil used for shaving. I don't know the name of the product, can't find it or anything like it on any store's website. It smells really good and feels pretty cool, too. I also used a Mach III razor and use a mirror. Also, look in the womens shaving section, as I have mini razors that are like the bic ones you describe, but are meant for the bikini area of the body. Again, use a mirror. If I am shaving outside of the shower, I use the oil, on my back, balancing a mirror on my feet with legs spread apart. I know that was more than you wanted to know, but, use a mirror helps a great deal. If you wear glasses...keep them on, even in the shower.

Here's some tips:
As was mentioned, use a good, sharp razor, such as a "Mach-3". If you use a disposable, you will only scrape layers off of your skin, allowing bacteria to get in, and causing a lot of inflammation.
Apply aqueous iodine solution ("Providine", or WalMart's generic brand) before and after shaving. This will kill most microbes, and doesn't hurt or cause inflammation.
Avoid shaving against the growth direction of the hair - this will also open the skin and allow bacteria to enter your epidermis. If you must shave against the grain, use only light pressure.
Do not apply moisturizer unless you have very dry skin - the mineral oil in moisturizer lotions creates a very hospitable environment for bacteria.
# Wear loose-fitting cotton underwear, or none at all.
The pubic area is a place that bacteria find to be very comfortable to live in. The problem is that there are a lot of productive sweat glands in the pubic area, and there is generally a lack of good ventilation there. This moist, warm, ph-balanced area makes a great petri dish. Add some fresh broken skin, and you get lots of happy colonies. The primary bacteria strain is staphylococcus. Staph bacteria exists normally on the surface of most people's skin. It's when you allow it to get under the skin that it can cause problems.
The inflammation, caused by breaking the skin by shaving (folliculitis) also enhances the hospitable environment for bacteria by interrupting the skin's normal metabolic processes. This is why you want to avoid inflammation as much as possible (sharp blade, light pressure), and keep the bacteria count in check (good hygiene, iodine). I have been using this method for years, and I rarely ever get bumps anymore. On the rare occasion that I do, I apply colorless iodine (iodine-based - does sting on open bumps). In a day or two, the bump is gone.
If your skin is not extremely sensitive to chemical depilatories, this can be a better method. It removes the hair below the skin without breaking the skin, and the ends of the hairs are soft or very fine, so they don't ingrow. And an additional benefit, the extremely high ph of depilatories kills staph bacteria.

Yes, I agree that there's nothing rude about letting one's hair grow, but neither is there anything unnatural about trimming or shaving. It is natural for humans to purposely modify their appearance.

I become a smoothie maybe 4 or 5 times during the year but I do not shave. I have found shaving is time consuming, messy, and doesn't really do the job very well. That being said, I go to a waxer to take all the hair off. Waxing is great. It is fast, not that painful, and leaves you feeling very smooth. Unlike shaving, you do not get bumps and waxing leaves you smooth for at least a month. Considering I am in NYC, finding a waxer, who will wax men and any part of a man, is very easy. There are TONS of waxing salons here in NYC and 95% cater to men as well as women.
I highly suggest people wax instead of shave...believe me, a big difference. Many think it is painful but it isn't at all (unless you are woman and doing a brazilian wax). First time will be uncomfortable but you quickly get used to it.
Considering I am in NYC, waxing is pretty $$$. For just my chest, bikini area, butt...it costs about $105 but since many of you live in places that aren't so expensive, I am sure it is much cheaper.

I've been a smoothie for about two months now and I completely love it. There's no better feeling than being smooth. Irritation occurs once in a while but it quickly heals. I became a smoothie by accident (messed up while trimming) and now I don't think I can go back. What I do is I use body wash to shave while i'm lathering up everywhere else (as opposed to using and buying shampoo) and it works great! Hope that little advice helps.

I shave, but i use a Magic. It is ment for facial hair remover, but you can use it for your entire body. You can put it on your sack, nipples, bum, and it does not burn. I just paint it on , get in the shower and hair comes right off. never had a bad out break either.

I don't want to sound like a hypocrite..but one of the nice things about nudists is that we're all supposed to accept eachother (and ourselves) for what we are not what we look like. I don't have mucho hair and I do shave my pubies. But if you have too much body hair to shave..you should just accept that it's a part of you. If you just want to shave your pubic area and leave the rest that's kewl too. Do whatever makes you comfortable. Comfort is one of the benefits of being bare http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hair's purpose is to prevent chafing?? Everything that I have read about body hair is that it exists to provide surface area for odiferous sebaceous compounds to cling to, and for bacteria to cling to and thrive (again, for their odor-producing properties). The idea is to attract members of the opposite sex by exciting the pheromone-detecting sensors in their nose.
The chafing theory is a new one on me. That would lead me to the conclusion that children don't chafe, which is why body hair doesn't appear before puberty. It would be more logical to assume that body hair isn't needed until puberty because children (who are generally unable to procreate) have no need to attract members of the opposite sex.
By the way, not everyone who shaves desires to look "pre-pubescent" - some do it for the enhanced sensuality, some for hygiene reasons, and some shave because it makes them feel more naked.
Hey everyone, I've got a question.
I guess this is mostly for the guys who shave, but are you afraid getting "caught"?
What I mean is getting caught say,,at the doctors office for some sort of exam, or out with your friends (non-nudists) and everybody decides to go for a swim or in the hot tub??
Wouldn't that be embarrasing to explain?

I have read that most men in Canada/ US do
shave --- is this true? What percentage? I
don't think this is the case here in Europe. I
have started shaving my sack (feels much
better) and have also had a 'good trim' up top
(looks much better - in my opinion at least!).
I also shaved right down in the groin between
my legs and the sack (felt much worse as it did
seem to chafe)At first my wife said she didn't
like it but she has had a considerable trim
down there since so maybe ....!! All I need to
do is get her to agree to go to a nudist beach

Haven't seen many shaved males at nudist venues in these parts. Having your natural body hair is nothing to be ashamed about and shaving is not a prerequisite for being a nudist.
Cleanliness is easy to achieve with soap and a shower.
And it's okay to be different looking from the majority whether that means shaved or full bush or anything in between. Being a nudist means you are probably a non-conformist to begin with, so don't sweat this!

Blah, who cares? Dye your hair purple if you want. I'm reminded of a line form the documentary "The Same River Twice," which went something like (paraphrased)
Why go naked? It's kind of like growing a beard, it takes no effort. It's natural. You don't have to do anything special to be naked or grow a beard. Putting on clothes or shaving the beard takes effort.

It isn't the least bit painful. I am at ease enough that I can shave as much hair off as I want to. I don't feel that pubic hair is a sign of maturity at all. Maturity is based on personal behavior and not the presence or absence of body hair.

I don't believe that anyone here has ever said that they had a "need" to shave their pubic hair. Similarly, I could say that I don't understand why anyone "needs" to cut the hair on their head, trim or paint their fingernails, tattoo their skin, etc. It is a matter of preference, not need.
As was mentioned, pubic hair is only a symbol of sexual, not emotional maturity. And shaving pubic hair, like shaving facial hair, is not an operation for most people, just a routine.

Yeah. I shave, but I'm more of an "all-over-trimmer-and-groomer". I like hair on myself, but I think I look better with short, trimmed hair. Because I'm nude in public a lot, I try to shave and trim in other areas that are seen and tend to get wild and shaggy. I like to see body hair on myself and others and am kind of disappointed in the totally shaved look. I think a pubic triangle on anyone is visually more appealing than a total lack of hair; it just looks odd to me. I am hoping that it is a passing fad and people will go back to the more natural appearance. It falls into the "body-acceptance" category for me. Some of us are really hairy, some of us are almost naturally hairless. Curly and straight, thick and thin; some are blond-haired, and some are dark. It's all beautiful to me. Also, once you start shaving, you have to shave regularly or else you get stubble. Stubble itches the "stubble-ee" and scratches the partner. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Actually, I have an idea if you wanted to shave and you are very hairy. It's what I do if I let my bush grow in too much. For about $25 I got one of those haircut kinda trimmers they sell in the drug store. I take off the bushiness and then use a razor for what's left. But, if it's your legs and arms..you can just leave them the way they are.

I shave; from my neck down have for about 4 yrs now;
I think that a lot of nudists shave. I like the look and feel; seems to be the way to go.

I'm prone to razor burn and bumps too, but I found an electric shaver that totally shaves intimate areas without irritation, called "Intimate Shave". I love it. Clean, fast shave. I think their website is www.intimate-shave.com (http://www.intimate-shave.com)

I don't shave. I tried it once and didn't really like it. I just trim.
I may be speaking from ignorance, but I'm wondering why there is an 11+ page thread about this topic?

A face, a scrotum, a vagina. Enough already! Shaving is shaving!

You are an "Angel" 101! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif I looked at their site and have not seen anything like this at all. Shaving leaves bumps on me, no matter how much vaseline or eqivalent (sp?) I use. I ordered one. There is a testimonial from a gal whose bf uses it on his pubes...it sure helped to read that! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
By the way, Angel101, welcome to the forums!! I look forward to reading more from you! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Both me and my husband enjoy shaving each other. I know this forum isn't about sex, but it does make for a bit of arousal.

I'm a trimmer and shaver. Pubes are trimmed and balls shaved. It's all personal preference. Only difference I noticed is that when it's hot, balls sometimes stick to the legs.

Baby powder, talcum powder, or gold bond fixes that problem nicely. You learn a lot of tricks when you live and work out in the summer heat all the time.

to shave or not to shave i guess that is the question. i shave in the summertime but if u notice in my pic post im not shaved .pics were taken in the winter. you see the point is my family and friends love me just as much in the winter as they do in the summertime. so i guess its like the hair on our heads some grow it long some shave it off but whatever we choose we are still beautiful in the eyes God and ourselves. so bow to no one and live as you choose.shaved or unshaved.

I don't completely shave it off, i just trim around the edges trimming the hedges as you could say, you stick out to much around teens at nudist camps/resorts if you shave since most don't.

I personally leave mine natural. I'm trimmed it before in the past but now I don't bother with it.

I trim mine because I have really sensative skin and it itches otherwise (and it doesnt look too good standing around scratching all day)

I have shaved in the past, b/4 I would've considered myself a nudist, but now I just trim -- it's such a pain to keep up with it so much.

"Trimming the hedges as you could say" - that's good! I've been doing that ever since I started growing it.

Really? That's interesting. Seems like most of the guys here shave and most of the girls just trim - you'd think it'd be the opposite.
I've never been to a nudist resort/beach so I wouldn't know firsthand...

At first I thought my wife would think I was weird but I decided to shave it all off the first of the year and been doing it since . Hoping to show her I really am seriousabout my convictions. Hope to be making progress.
Now I would like it if she would shave and join me at some naturist activity.

Shaving has become VERY popular, VERY FAST where I live.
2 years ago I used to go to the gym all the time and I rarely saw a shaved man. In fact I can only remember seeing one guy.
I started going again a couple of months ago and now about 25% are completely shaved and most of the others are trimmed or atleast shave the shaft and balls.
I'm not just talking young studs here. This isn't what I'd call a "jock gym" it's the Y.M.C.A. with a lot of middle aged and older men.
I don't know if they are nudists or not but the odds are that most of these men aren't. Yet here are all these "texiles" shaved.
Which leads me to think that shaving is propably more of a sexual thing than most would care to admit too.
Nothing wrong with that.
