By way of a introduction!

Hi everyone!

I've just joined this forum and thought I should write an introduction about myself. My name is Rick and I'm 30 years old. I live in Ireland.

As a child if I was ever alone in the house I used to enjoy being naked, just sitting on the sofa or walking about. I sometimes even went into the garden, which was quite private due to high hedges, and just stood there naked!

But my first true experience of nudity as an adult was during a holiday in Thailand. I was there with a long time female friend, though not girlfriend, and she suggested late one night to go skinny dipping in the sea. Much to her surprise I agreed! We were sitting on the beach at the time so it was easy to remove our clothes and go into the sea. It was the most exhilerating expereince I think of my life, as the sea was warm and there was lightning flashing overhead from a tropical storm!

A few years later while on holiday in Lanzarote, I went to a local nude beach to try nude sunbathing and also snorkelling! My girlfriend did not go nude but I really enjoyed it.

Unfortunately it's just on a few holidays that I can really enjoy being nude. This year I booked a weekend just for myself at a nude resort in spain called Costa Natura. I went in October and the weather was still good for sunbathing. I would like to go back soon since I made some friends who live there all year.

As I said, it's really only on holidays I get to be nude outdoors. I do spend some time at home nude if I can, and have slept nude since I was 18. I'm not sure if I'm a true nudist since it's really only nude sunbathing that I enjoy, although to be honest I haven't tried many other social nude activities.

I would like to hear from others and make some friends who enjoy the nudist lifestyle.

I wouldn't worry too much about definitions; i.e. "true" nudist or not; you enjoy being nude and have made the effort to go on holiday nude; that's more than a lot of people do!

I dont think there is such a thing as a "true" nudist unless he or she lives on a warm deserted island where there is no chance of encountering someone from the textile world - and if there is such a place would you please give me the directions.

There used to be a naturist swim in Belfast, I think it got stopped though, but there are other naturists in the province, I'll try to find out more info for you.

Hi John,

Yes Costa Natura was really nice, although a little quiet in October. I stayed in one of the apartments, number 116 or something, which is privately owned. I'd certainly recommend it for a weekend or longer. Gibraltar is only a short distance away by car.

Hello Rick, another Irish man here, one from Tyrone actually. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif Glad to see another person from Ireland who has the same interest as myself.

Anyway, I'm going to write my piece about how I became a nudist too. My first taste of it I suppose came from sleeping nude about 5 years ago or so. Probably didn't do that much then until 2004, and started stripping off in the house when everybody was out. Then this year in the summer, I became comfortable and happy with the way I looked nude. I always didn't like the way I looked generally but this summer I became used to it. I ended up telling a few people I knew and they were okay with it. Only one person said for certain though she had no problems if I wanted to be nude around her. I hope to tell more people about it and hope to do more things nude and involving nudism as I get older. I haven't told my parents about it. One day, I hope to do so though.

That's me, I've maybe slightly rambled a bit, but just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Nudism is a part of my life at the minute and hopefully will be a bigger part in the future.

It's good to find someone else from N. Ireland. Have you been nude anywhere outside your house yet?
Telling your friends is a great step, and if they're comfortable with you being nude around them perhaps they might try it in time.

Hi Rick, Welcome!

I think many of us began to enjoy nudity as children or teens, going naked around the house when left alone (I know I certainly came to look forward to those opportunities.) In my case, however, I actually began to enjoy going without clothes at 8 or 9 years of age, when a group of us kids would regularly head off to the woods near our homes, take off all our clothes, and play naked most of the day. While I'm sure most of the kids felt it was just something naughty to do, I know I just really liked being naked outside.

There are so many paths to a person coming to regard themselves as a nudist, it may be kind of hard to know when to regard yourself as a "true nudist", as you said. I just think if you enjoy being naked... you're there!
