Without fathers there would be no sons nor daughters. The father starts your life with a moment's pleasure but he works hard to support you, guide you, foster you, educate you, feed you, house you, and most of all he loves you.

Mine is long dead but I still honor his efforts for all he did for me through out my life.

And there are those grandfathers that are so forgiving and understanding. I had the very best grandfather ever, but there are those out there that feel theirs will beat mine. Is ok to feel that. In fact is good to think like that. Is an honor to the person whether he is still with us or gone. The cinema screen of my mind is full of wonderful things from dads of all kinds of relation direct or not.

Thanks dad !!!!!

Both of my grandfathers were dead by the time I arrived on the scene, and I miss not having known them. But life moves in mysterious ways, and I'm now the caregiver for my 87 year-old Father. It's not always easy, but I love and admire the man, so Sunday will truly be his day. Happy Dad's Day to all the others out there!

Thanks, everyone, for the nice gestures. Always nice to hear greetings from others, who themselves, have Fathers whom they show great pride and respect for. I, too, want to wish all Fathers and Grandfathers, a special greeting. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Yes Happy Fathers Day to all the fathers out there, what ever the date may be. I not only have a new grand daughter but also a new father [my son]. I will spend the day with him and his new family. Maybe I will treat him and his to a New England clam bake. Baked in a stone pit with lobster, clams, fish and seaweed.

That sounds excellent (but I don't have any idea what flavor seaweed gives the food, if any).

Incidently, foux, since you live in RI, have you heard of John Crandell and family, as he helped found RI? Their property remains in Westerly RI to this day. He was my very distant grand-father, whom I will belatedly bestow a Happy Father's day toward his grave in Westerly, even though that is goofy and does not make any sense!

I had a good day.
Got up early. Spent some time nude in the yard.
Took the FIL out for a nice Buffet at 11. Spent more time nude in the yard and garden. Had My Daughter and SIL over for supper. (not nude) Now it's time for bed.
Great day. I hope all the fathers had as much fun as I did.
