Check your local public exposure/nudity laws. I suspect that if nude people can be seen from outside the park, they won't be able to host a Nude Event.

Also, even the mention of a possible nudist gathering at a water park, be prepared for the objections from religious groups. That is exactly what happened in Fresno, CA.

The 'nudist day' wasn't even in the plannng stages, except for rumors. Just so happen, there was a church group that threatened to boycott the water park and move their 'family day' events somewhere else.

To this, sad to say, the church group won over the nudists. The management was looking at dollars instead of various groups. If memory serves me right, the church group had a monthly family day gathering, so you can see why the management decided to turn 'us' down. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

I heard many times that Spain is very open about nudity. I wonder if there are actually people who go naked in water parks in Spain.

An indoor Waterpark like World Waterpark (http://www.westedmontonmall.com/play/waterpark.asp) in the mall in Edmonton, Canada, can be built anywhere. Building it with a glass roof, and walls that can open and close would allow for sunbathing and fresh air during the warm months, a temperature controlled environment in the cool months, and privacy when the walls are closed.

For an outdoor waterpark to be private, you have to take into consideration the height of walls needed to obscure the taller waterslides and other rides. Or enclose them. And due to weather, outdoor waterparks have a limited operational season in most parts of the world.

Love the idea BUT........Daytona went as far as outlawing THONGS on their beaches....I think a nude day at the water park might cause the city councel to cardiac arrest!

Denita:"I think a nude day at the water park might cause the city councel to cardiac arrest!"

Good. Then they can vote in a better council. Imagine if that could work--Nudity having the ability ot kill anyone who was offended by it! We could be living in a nudtopia.

Only kidding. I wish death on no one. Maybe a really bad head cold. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Whilst Spain is more liberal about nudity, I know of no water park that allows nudity, although I imagine it would be possible to book a CO session if the revenue equalled or surpassed a normal days takings!
Here in the UK we have 'Wirral Naturists' (http://www.wirralnats.org.uk/) event at 'Waterworld' (http://www.waterworld.co.uk/), and a major event in November at one of the UK's largest theme parks, in their water park organised by British Naturism (http://www.british-naturism.org.uk/pages/pages.asp?page_ID=105).

If you don't ask, you don't get!!!

When enquiring with a water park, why not quote these activites as an example, surely they won't let those limey's have something bigger and better than they have?

BOB: LMNAO!!! So true, so true.....new council members is just what Daytona needs. Can you imagine: DAYTONA BEACH = NO THONGS...how dumb is that?! I heard/read somewhere that they even have "dimentions" that a suit must meet to be considered "legal". (Only this much 'cheek' here and that much breast showing there...argg!) Now, who is in charge of enforcing that law??? Not a job I'd want! It would be so much easier if we could all just DUMP the suits altogether!

Thanks for the 2002 laughable article and link. Guess it didn't go over well, isn't Florida the state with the most Nudist resorts, largest, with the largest membership, and the most famous free nude beaches?

Sounds like some CA communities who have crazy ordinances on the books added to Nudity codes:

Guys or Gals with G-Strings would break most cities nudity codes such as this major cities ordinance:

Re: linkRe: Link State of Nudity codes WNBR Washington D.C. post 6-08-2006 11:52 AM (http://clothesfreeforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/1400016152/m/9970068914/r/3070013924#3070013924)

130-173.2. State of Nudity

The showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area, vulva, anus, anal cleft or cleavage with less than a fully opaque covering; the showing of the female breast with a less than fully opaque covering of any part of the areola; or the showing of the human male genitals in a discernibly turgid state, even if completely and opaquely covered. (Adopted 4/04)

************************************************** ******************

So from above you could get cited for having a semi erection with kaki pants on if the outline showed looking at the pants leg.

Wearing a G-String depending how small the string part is would show a males the buttocks and part of the testicle sack from a rear view depending how he was positioned or on the bike.

So the Washington D.C. police or commission just doesn’t want men’s or women’s frontal view of any genitals or pubic hair. Some of the tiny women’s G-Strings do not hide their genitalia at all and is more suggestive than being naked completely.

So what’s Washington D.C. trying to prove when it's common place in larger Cities such as San Francisco, and Seattle several times as year to have approved nude events with up to 80,000 or more spectators and participants?

This is almost as ridiculous as Florida's nude codes in Daytona County. Where is the Penis patrol with the tape measures and standards on flaccid penis outlines & size?

Who is to judge if one is showing tumlence other than the bearer, and why would it matter if they had an opaque covering, pants, bathing suite, or short pants or docker type shorts on? Any prude could yell obscene or offensive and get one arrested for wearing full length opaque pants in public anywhere.

LOL

See, wouldn't it just be easier on everyone if NUDE was the rule! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif Of course, that would put a lot of people out of work and make a lot of rule books nothing more than fire starter....

A water park built in anticipation of such events is a different animal from and existing park people are trying to "re-purpose".

That is where the influence of existing, or established (and paying) customers gains its leverage.

I think Florida and Las Vegas would be ideal locations to consider building a clothing free "oasis" park. Of course the usual insurance liability costs and attendance "break even" rules apply. The attraction has to generate enough revenue very soon after it opens to remain a profitable venture. The exact same rules that apply to any "brick and mortar" business.

SIDE NOTE:
I wonder if it is more difficult to save a swimmer who is completely suit-less at a water park?

As a long time former Red Cross Water Safety Instructor I don't see that there would be any difference. Bathing suits weren't a part of any rescue techniques.

don't want to stomp out any optimism but I'm just wondering, wouldn't it hurt to go down those slides while nude? Especially while on ur belly... owwwch!

Pete Knight

For a start, you're not allowed to go belly down, and no it doesn't hurt when seated, but you do pick up speed a lot quicker, which makes it more fun.

If you can arrange a private booking of a waterpark for naturist events you wouldn't regret it, its a brilliant experience.

We have the thrice yearly Waterworld, and for the first time we are hoping to have an entire weekend at Alton Towers, but that depends on the number of bookings taken by 28th July!!!!!

You just have to try it!
