I think the fundamental difference is the additional layer of clothing between your 'free balls' and your pants/trousers (depending on where you are)

Depends how tight the boxer shorts are and if the crotch is short or the fit of the boxers.

There is a difference in feel going commando with jeans and with boxer shorts on under jeans. With boxers & if warm my testicles would hang below the boxer crotch so they would be on one side or the other and block the looseness one has going commando.

I never just wear boxers when inside unless someone is offended by nudity. Even then it’s easy to have fall out or see the genitals if sitting across from someone with boxers on. I’m usually nude but if cool or want to be covered I just use a robe. That’s almost like being nude and hanging loose.

Just the fact that having on another piece of clothing between the skin and trousers is unappealing. Even when strolling around the house among 'non-nudists', I usually wear a wrap around or a robe, but never boxers. I feel the same way as NakedGary. I am always naked under pants and if I have to go to doctor put on a pair of jockeys that were bought about 10 years ago.

Around the house when necessary will put on a robe or follow the naturists number 1 rule ALWAYS CARRY A TOWEL.

I've never liked boxers, I prefer regular underwear (if I must wear it, that is!). Since I wear sweats/shorts most of the time, I rarely wear anything underneath... when I wear pants with zippers, well, that's another story...

Zipper-itis !!! Man! That is one thing we nudists kind of eliminated anyway. I really hate it when the zipper is all the way up and your thing is still out..... YOUCH !!!!!!

If you have to wear pants (of some kind), I think having the bare butt against the back of the pants is important. You don't get that with the boxers, no matter how loose they are.

Also rabid_clam and phillygeeguy - Most of us have had that painful experience even when we were wearing underwear and pulled up the zipper a little bit too hastily.

Ha! That has happened to me only once while drinking. I had on a pair of shorts and wasn't wearing any underwear underneath. I zipped up too fast and my penis was caught in the zipper. Luckily I was able to pull the zipper down quickly enough to avoid an 'emergency situation'. It did hurt though!

As for the original question, I prefer to wear no underwear at all over boxers. Boxers ride up underneath my pants, freeballing feels so much better. I only wear underwear while I'm at work and those are boxer briefs. They are tighter and give more support. The underwear come right off (along with the rest of the clothing) as soon as I get home.

I wear no underwear ever, no matter what the situation. I quit wearing them on advise of my doctor a few years ago and have no plans to go back. I think they are the most useless piece of clothing ever invented. If you are clean with your body, underwear serves no purpose. They bunch up and hold in bacteria and sweat against your skin. Doctors will not be shocked if you go to appointments with out them. They have seen it all before.

easy answer: the waistband.

boxer shorts ride up my waist, and i hate the feeling of bunched-up fabric around my waist. i grew up wearing tighties, but now i don't wear underwear at all. haven't in almost a year and a half, except for walking around the house in nothing but boxers. in fact, i threw away all my tighties.

i drive a delivery truck and work in the warehouse. it's the kind of work that many people would never attempt without underwear, plus i wear jeans at work every day. well, the other day, a coworker mentioned that he was making a delivery, bending over to pick something up in the truck, and his pants split. apparently, he didn't notice right away, and - because he doesn't wear underwear - his penis was quite exposed for a while. the audience consisted of the lead warehouse guy, the main gal in the office, and myself. the office gal asked why he doesn't wear underwear, and he answered:

"why? they just get in the way."
"get in the way of what?"
"i don't know, if you have to change clothes in a hurry, or..."

i piped in that underwear is an outdated article of clothing. i asked the office gal:

"do you use toilet paper?"
"yes, of course i do."
"then why do you need to wear underwear?"
"to catch those juicy farts!"

so now i sometimes call her Juicy Farts, and everyone else gets this weird look on their faces.
