Please forgive me if this poll has been asked already (I did a topic search and didn't find anything).

I enjoy polls, even if the results are not really conclusive. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/applause.gif
If you conducted a poll, on any subject, in NYC's Times Square and then conducted the same poll in Moscow's Red Square, then you would understand. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif
So far, I'm among the 79% of those who responded. My answer was that only a few friends and a few trusted family members know. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/shocked.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/freak.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/zzz.gif
As for thoughts on this question and the reasons for the answer, this has been covered on numerous posts by many of those who contribute to CFF. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/rolleyes2.gif

None of the alternatives fit my situation. My wife and out are generally out of the closet, having informed all of our Christmas letter recipients, for example. But there are still situations in which it seems prudent not to advertise it.

I guess I'm in the boat with the majority of the people so far - only certain people know. I think a lot has to do with career implications and a lack of understanding by certain people.

I agree with Evolving, I am happy to tell anyone but some people are not happy to hear or talk about nudity so I don't bother to tell those people.

Another between 1 and 2 here. While I make no secret of me beind a nudist, I don't go shouting about it either.
Since I am a tenured civil servant, my job is secure. So no worries in that area. Besides, just about everybody I work with knows anyway. (As an interesting aside, it's 'amazing' how many groans I get just by 'threatening' to come to work as a 'happy camper' for the MRW Halooween contest! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/anxious.gif

LOL, Good for you for at least mentioning,,,

It's been my experience that those that first frown, tend to ask later "So what is it really like?"

I am extremely open about my nudism. Just about anyone who knows me knows about my nudism.
I thought there would be more #1's than it shows. But perhaps, that is just my wishful thinking or it is still too early in the voting.

I chose 2. Please don't get me wrong. I had always told everyone how much I enjoyed the nude beach on vacation, I just never told anyone that I enjoyed the nudist lifestyle. There is a huge difference. I am starting to open up more.

Even thou I don't tell everyone that I enjoy the nudist lifestyle, I really don't try and hide it. In the summer months when I can swim, if you come by my house and I'm out back chances are I'm nude and inside. So beware.

Some family members know but I don't think they turely believe me, some friends know. The picture I choose is the responce I get when I talk of being nude or enjoy a nude life style.

I guess I'm technically a closet nudist in that I'm only nude in 4 rooms of my house and I haven't yet engaged in social nudity. On the other hand, my interest in nudism and naturism isn't a secret but no one seems to believe me or take it seriously.

Bet they take you serious if you come out of the 4 rooms and out of closet naked.
I chose #2; however, I believe I am somewhere between #2 and #3. My close friends know I enjoy being naked, but only at home. I have yet to experience nudity outside of my house.
As of now I don't have any plans to tell my family, They are all fairly conservative and I don't know how they would take the news. Not only is their son gay (which they know about), but he is a nudist too. Now that might be a double whammy.

Six years ago, I would have answered 1 with no hesitation. When I was working in retail as a low-level employee, everyone (friends, family and co-workers) knew of my nudist inclinations. As I started moving up in the ranks, however, it became more and more difficult to declare myself a nudist. Now, I've reached the point where it would be career-suicide for me to openly reveal myself as a nudist. Although I don't miss these early, near-poverty days, I do miss being able to openly talk about nudism at work and sharing my experiences, and sometimes even "converting" someone.

I guess we all have plenty of room in the closet because we don't own as many clothes... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/beam.gif

I am between 1 and 2 like many others who have posted already. I have to say that I am between 1 and 2 on most aspects of my life. Those who are close to me know many things that others will not. Being nudst is just a small portion of my life and will remain something that becomes apparent as one gets to know me on a deeper plane. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I answered #2 on the survey, but there are only limited family members that know of just how open I am with my love of nudity, and I really don't have any close freinds that know of it, but I'm working on that.

My problem is that I will tell people...sometimes I shouldn't. Not until I know them better anyhow. I just enjoy it so much that I sometimes forget that others are totally shocked by even talk of nudity.
Hohum. Their loss!
Everyone in my family knows, including in-laws, as well as my close friends. Unfortunatly none of them are nudist so do not join me at Black's Beach or on my hikes to Deep Creek Hot Springs in San Bernardino (my favorite places to go)

Hi Denital C
Can I ask?
But what do you say to them or how even do you get it into a conversation about your interest in nudity.

Hi Ewan....long time no chat! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif
Don't get me wrong, I don't go up to total strangers and start with "Hi, I'm Dee....a nudist". LOL
I just find that when I'm talking with people and vacations, beaches, swimming or similar topics come up...I'm pretty quick to work nudist activities into the conversation if I see any way to do so...semi tactfully. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif
I haven't had any negative reactions so far. I am now working and trying to be a little lower key....just to watch my back and follow PCism.
Take care!
Dee

A friend of mine indiscriminately discussed her nudist way of life. If someone asked her how her week-end was, she would reply something like: "Great! Some of my daughter's friends came over and we all skinny-dipped!" Or when asked why she requested to leave work early: "I'm holding a nudist get-together with some friends!" I've seen people respond with shock, disbelief, and even anger. I explained to her that her candor was remarkable, but unfortunately also alienating to the "uneducated" people who could not mentally process the fact that she was nude with her kids.
She almost got fired over this...

I suppose that I'm still a closet nudist as I've still not had a social experience.
As far as telling people that I am, well, I don't broadcast the fact but I do tell selected people. I'm not shy about being seen any more and want to be more open about my lifestyle, so the more that know, the better.
I'd consider it just great to meet an open friendly naturist like Dee, just can't imagine why anyone would be shocked when you say you're a naturist.

Hi Denital
Is good to hear from you.
I kind of wonder how you brought up the subject of like being nude.

I don't know where i would be on this...
Wouldn't mind anyone knowing, i.e. friends with similar interests...
Not sure i am ready to share with my extended family...
not ashamed of it...
just don't want to deal with prying questions and unsolicited opinions...
my wife and i are nude at home always, but have yet to do anything organized as far as naturism is concerned...
i work 50-60 hours a week, and we just haven't gotten out to some of the nice places around here yet...
one of my friends knows, and he is basically in the same place, being a home nudist...
if someone asked me, i wouldn't deny being a nudist...
although i would qualify that with the fact i am more of a wannabe at this point...
plan to get out more though :-)
