I haven't been to either of these clothing optional beaches, but I plan on going sometime this week, as it is not so hot anymore. Which one do you prefer and why?
And if you would like to go...
Thanks.
Tim

I confess I have never been to SI (Suavies Island) but from what a number of my friends at RR have said about the place, chances are pretty high, that I won't be planning on any future trips over there either.

The thoughts of having broken glass littering the parking lot doesn't do a whole lot for my vote of confidence either nor does some of the other not so great stuff those I have met in passing said bout the place /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The one big bonus I have heard about SI is that of the 2 parks this is really the place to take children...that is also the BIG Negitive bout RR...unless people take their kids out to the island, most prefer not to encounter some of the stuff RR is famous for such as having a fairly high Gay population that frequents it.

Also one is more likely to encounter more adult activity at RR than most of us with children would desire to expose our kids too and this includes those in their late teens...kids see enough stuff without actually stumbling across it delibertly...and yes I too have seen stuff occuring there I would rather not look at...but then again this is pretty typical of most nude beaches with places people can be off by themselves so RR and SI are no exception to these rules /infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif

The other major advantage this summer for RR is that the St Johns Bridge has made it somewhat more challenging to cross over to the bridge where one needs to get to SI...it normally takes me for example to get to RR about 1/2 hour vs SI an hour without any construction /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Anyway good luck in deciding where you plan on going /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

And before I forget, you do need to have a parking pass for both places...both are 3 bucks for a day or one can purchase a pass for the year that in the case of RR is 25 bucks, and that one is good for an entire year and valid at all the state parks in Oregon, or SI is I think bout 11 bucks for the year at various Game Reserves in Oregon.

I have been to RR one time. It was during the 4th of july week.

Dispite the perves lurking in the bushes, it was a pretty nice place to go Hiking in the nude. I didn't get accross to the sand bar due to lack of time. We just took a nice walk and finally found the "Beach".

We met some nice couples there and had a good conversation about the beach and some of it's problems. But Honestly , Those kinds of problems occur at lots of places besides nude beaches.

We even saw some inappropriate sexual activity at the portland Rose Garden. During some sort of Gay Rally there were a couple guys that should have been arrested for what they were doing.

But I bet the public isn't going to try to shut down the rose garden because of it.

Thanks for the replies.
I was really leaning towards Rooster Rock anyway and your posts confirm that desire.
Have you been there in the middle of the week? How is it compared to the weekends?
If the weather holds for this weekend that I where I plan to be.
Thanks
Tim
