The only nude outside exercise I am able to perform is when I visit a local resort where I can walk (to out of shape to run) and dog paddle in the pool. At home I work out on the exercise ball and do some weightlifiting also. If you count cleaning house as exercise, add that to my list. If I could only convince my spouse to participate in nudism we could live the life you appear to enjoy according to the activites listed in your post. I plan on visiting Little Beach in September so I will be getting some nude beach walking in.

I did some nude hiking with some body weight exercises like Hindu squats and pushups last week at Glen Eden. The resort has some good hiking trails with some pretty steep inclines. I got a good 45 minute workout in.

http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif Have'nt done much sports or activities whilst nude, its something i would really love to do. Most naturists i've met over the years seem to be 50+ in age terms, so any physical activity seems to be non existent or very little.
I have however played water volleyball and took part in an all female pool aerobics, i was a bit embarressed as i was out of shape and did'nt really have a clue what i was doing after 5 minutes i wished i was somewhere else. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/embarassed.gif

The original olympic evens were all performed nude although women wore a wrap of fabric around their breasts in roman times. mostly for support rather than discretion. It has been proven that the body, without artificial restraint, excercises more efficiently because of the enhanced sense of movement and exursion. Swimming has long been lauded as the most aerobic, least joint impacting, method of exercise.
Add swimming nude and it just can't be beat!
Ever hear of anyone who hated skinnydipping?

In regard to True Brit's comment, I am 50++ and do more physical exercise than at any time since my early 30s. Activities done nude include swimming laps, workouts, beach walking, hiking, jogging, beach bat & ball games, beach boules (petanque), driving, cooking, having lunch, sauna & steam room, using PC

Some of the fitness routines/sports I have done nude include swimming laps, hiking, volleyball, stationary bikes, arm curls and butterfly plexes. While not strictly an exercise or sport, nude log splitting does do a complete workout.
I have tried to talk the owner of a local gym to let me do a nude workout after hours. He still thinks I am kidding...even after I pointed out just what the word 'gym' really means!

I am not much of a organised sports person but nevertheless:
* swimming (obviously), i prefer seawater (makes you feel lighter and even more floating) but also freshwater and pool, indoors and outdoor;
* snorkeling
* beachvolley (not indoors, don't like indoor sports), badminton (outdoors), tabletennis (outdoors), darts (outdoors)
* walking (wish we had some decent nude walking areas around here where you could go around for miles. The best we have not more than a 20mins walk and infested with perv's (semi-gay men looking for everying but naturism). We don't have long sweeps of beach around here.
* fishing but only once. Would like to do more of it, but am not patient enough.
* skiing in winter (short laps!)
Cheers

I try to work out nude when I can. Riding a trainer, using a stairmaster, and lifting weights are all easily done nude in the right environment.
Not having as much laundry to do when finished is a great plus, not to mention being cooler because you do not have clothes against you trapping heat.
I also have run several nude fun runs...another coming up soon here at Paradise Valley in Georgia.
I believe one is more able to see what the body is doing, and that you are doing the exercise properly, when nude.
And Caliente had an awesome workout room. What a great resort!
We also played nude tennis there. Coming back to the heat of Altanta and playing ALTA tennis with wet, clothes tugging at your body was certainly a frustrating reminder how nice it is to play clothesfree....

Hello Dee. Good question. I have kind of wondered about this question myself. Well, I myself have done volleyball and simple walking in the nude and that's about it. I am not too good of a swimmer. When I go to a beach, I only go up to my stomach in water to keep my feet on the ground. Would attending a DJ dance at Glen Eden Sun Club on a hot summer night qualify as a fitness activity?

Well being a "wrinkly" old guy (still young at heart) - I guess some of the fitness activities listed above are not on my list BUT I do do -
NUDE
- Yoga
- Walking around the farm
- Night walking (nude at night walking in the bush is just great)
- Farm work in general (farming is my hobby so farm "work" is pleasure)
- I swim in our pool but being a bit lazy I can't say that I do "laps" - 1 or 2 slow laps is about it.

Wife and I walk for about 45 minutes every day after lunch.
Nude gardening and lawn mowing.
All home and grounds maintenance is done nude front the front of the house back, approximately 8 acres behind the 1/2 acre out front.
Take my cars around to the side or back of the house and wash them nude on a regular basis.
Tractor maintenance is done nude with it parked behind the carriage house.

Since November, I've purchased a Bowflex and put it in the bedroom. I use it on a routine basis, and I love it. I have yet to use it with anything on. Whenever I tell the wife that I'll be in the back, she knows I'll be naked and working out. Working out in the nude is a great feeling, something I wished I could have done a long time ago.
Now if only I can find a way to go jogging down the street, nude. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

I had a friend with a weight set at home. I was trying to learn and asked him to show me. He said he usually used them nude. Then I told him to do as he usually did.
He felt that when you could see the muscles tensing and releasing, it aided the experience.
I felt it was also interesting to see someone else's tensing with the same exercise.
When he asked me if I wanted to try it, I dropped my shorts and said sure.
I agree that nude weight lifting is great. However, since he moved, I have lost the opportunity. I miss it.

I've tried to stay fit, from time to time, and about any non-sport exercise I've done, I've done the nude version too. Seems about anything is better in the nude.
As for running in the summertime (or other heavy, prolonged exercise where you'd sweat alot), I see nudity as necessary for health and safety, to allow perspiration to do it's thing and try to regulate your body temporature. I'm sure that to some nude, "primitive" peoples of the past and present, it must seem insane that "civilized" people sweat buckets more than they need to, endangering their health, only to comply with the no-nudity taboo.

The only ones I've been able to do nude is some light weight lifting at home and one hike. Most of the time I do the weight lifting at a gym and the hiking is done in at least shorts since the trails tend to have people on them and attitudes around here aren't what they are out west.

My wife and I have done the trails at Glen Eden so many times, we have them memorized! What an awesome workout!!! And a good view too.

Wow, I am impressed...
of course those (of us) who don't exercise (much) aren't 'fessing up are they?
I have to admit I don't exercise as much as I should...
but did at one time get to do some rock climbing (clambering) for most of a day nude...
a short spin on my bike nude...
and some walking (also nude)...
Brenda has been much more faithful in her exercise routine...
and it shows...
we plan to get a few more items of exercise equipment...
i.e. treadmill, maybe bowflex (or something)...
but Brenda has mostly used only the equipment god gave her to exercise with...
plus she has an exercise ball she uses...
would be a great thing for us to exercise together...
as we do everything else together...

Just read my way through this thread and thought I'd throw in my $.02. I've lifted weights, swum laps, and played volleyball nude. And, at age 50, I'm working out much more regularly, and am much more muscular, than ever before in my life. Ironically, though, the better fitness comes at the expense of exercising clothed: I used to lift naked at home occasionally--now I go to the gym on a regular schedule but I have to wear clothes there.
I wish one of the smaller local gyms would set aside a block of hours for clothes-free exercise--I'd guess if they did it in the middle of the day they'd increase usership in hours they are usually empty.

Hello Denita, how have you been doing? I hope all is well with you and your family. Well, as far as nude fitness goes for me, I have done both beach and court volleyball. The beach volleyball was at Black's Beach in either July or August of 1992. Also, the court volleyball was at Glen Eden Sun Club in June of '92. Other than that, that is pretty much all I have done in the nude. I am not a good swimmer, so swimming laps in the nude is out for me! However, I am looking to possibly participate in a 5K event at a nudist facility somewhere if I can find one near me hear in Southern California. Would you or anyone have any ideas or suggestions on where I can get hooked up somewhere? Thanks! Take care!

the only nude exercise i've done is hiking nude, really more nature-walking nude, so it isn't really much of a workout.
on days i don't go to the gym i often do abdominal crunches in the morning before showering and getting (ugh!) dressed. since i sleep in the raw, i don't have to "change" before doing my crunches!

Can't believe I forgot to mention doing T'ai Chi nude. It's the greatest--waistbands and T'ai Chi really do not mix well at all. I think the Chi just gets bottlenecked there at your waist and throws off the whole form. (My wife has suggested I get a pair of bib overalls--but she was just messing with me.)
You have to have the right surface to do it barefoot, though. Hardwood floors==pretty good. Carpet==feasible, but yucky. Concrete==no way. Never tried tatami mats, but I bet they'd be the best.

I am new to nudity but love it and slowly getting wife involved . Went to a local naturists area and played basketball with a mixed group. Everything was fine thre was body contact but nothing more than what should be in a game I had several instances where I was struck in the testicles and noticed that it had happened to several ohters also. I did see some of the ladies get struck in the brests and groin area. Nothing really hurt but having played clothed basketball and then nude I was hit more often or at least noticed it. At one point I needed a minute due to the pain. I saw some people playing street hocket and I was shocked.

dragonfly and i workout most mornings in the nude. situp's, pushup's, crunch's, leg lifts, general strenching and toning. we both enjoy nude swimming when possible. nude walking. I played nude frisbee at avolon last summer with a friend. does nude WII bowling count???
i have to agree that swimming laps in a pool is some of the best workout's i have ever had. just wish i had access to a pool to swim laps in regularly. we have looked into a hottub/continious pool, but it is a little out of our price range at $30,000

I would love to be able to go for a jog/walk/hike in the nude, but so far have never been able to. There is a naturist resort a couple of hours away from here that I am hoping to make it to this summer that advertises a trail in the woods for hiking. That seems a lot better that walking on a treadmill in a crowded gym.

My jogging days are over good ridence! I am an avid hiker though, I tryto get in a lttle nude hiking. I have several trails nearby in the woods that I can take advantage of. There are some screwy laws on the books here though so I am cautious.

I went for a nice 1 1/2 hour nude hike in the desert this morning. Beautiful weather, not a soul around, peace and quiet. Ahhhhhh. This makes for a nice day.

Although i play baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, run often, and swim when the weather allows it or at the gym, I have never tried any of these while nude. I would definitely love to try all of these sports and also include bicycling, golf, yoga, and ,as another fellow naturist in another thread mentioned, naked Wii to the list.

Sounds great, however I am curious. How do you manage a 10 - 20 mile walk in the park nude? You are to be envied.

I don't know about Pumpkin but I usually manage 3-5 mile hike nude in a park, a state park and wildlife preserve. It can be done it just takes courage and the ablility to choose your trails and time of day wisely.
I have tried yoga nude and it truly feels like it should be performed nude.

Sorry but this sounds really fake. Pumkinpie says in his profile that he is a home nudist. That is okay. I take exception to hiking 10 - 20 miles! Geez...most people walk at an exercise pace of 3 - 4 miles per hour and run a 5K at 15 - 30 minutes.
What gives?

I have done yoga and weight exercises nude in my own home. But if there is such a thing as a clothes free gym, I'd definitely consider joining. I've never seen any group nude yoga offerings, but I'd be interested in that too.

I personally haven't done anything too exciting working out nude. I have found though that done routine exercises are more enjoyable when my exercise shorts are riding up; their loose fitting but they still have a habit of making exercising annoying. Playing baseball and tennis on Wii Sports definitely feels better.

Lot of talk about nude yoga here! I run weekly naturist yoga classes in Somerset, England and weekend yoga events Nudefest, Spielplatz, Candy Farm in the pipeline. Nudefest has passed this year but there is next year and it may be a 5 day event.
For any UK members why not try out yoga, British Naturism protocols, at Spielplatz 25/26/27 Sep. Love to see you there.

Yes nude yoga is great! It took me a while to find a class but now that I found one I'm very happy with it. I can't go back to dressed yoga.
My gym lets me work out topfree which I love.
I also love to swim nude, it's the most perfect sport do to nude i.m.o.

I agree that swimming is the second best thing you can do in the nude ;)! And of course, I include snorkelling as an aspect of swimming.
I've only done nude yoga on my own but I'd like to try it in a class.

I do all my workout at home nude, weightlifting, push ups etc. twice a day(mostly) 6 days a week, early morning and late evening when the kids are tugged in. I have tried running nude at a beach once, swimming and snorkeling too but not often enough to consider. Id like to do more of those activities and try volleyball.

With the economy the way it is, it sounds like your workout wardrobe is the best way to save money; I've seen how much it is just for workout gear and swimsuits for guys, I can't imagine how much money Women have to invest. Plus I have seen how tight some of those yoga outfits can get; if you add just a pound, it looks like it could rupture one of those outfits.

I have noticed that nudist women have another advantage in firmer breasts.
When I was at the resort, even the older women had firmer breasts.
My theory is that when the breasts get all of their support from bras, they don't have more strength on their own. Nudist women who are also active train their breasts to support themselves.

I work out nude in the basement and run on the treadmill only when it is below 15 degrees outside. Would like to do more nude running but obviously can't unless I'm at a resort...
I work out at home and that means I can do all of it nude. My routine consists of resistance training to challenge all of the muscle groups once a week, and yoga movements to stretch and maintain flexibility. I also meditate but when sitting comletely still some covering is required to ward off the cold. No matter how flexible clothing is, nude is still preferable.

Very interesting. Maybe you should start a new thread with a poll to get other's opinions. You could probably get a federal grant to study this theory.
So we're catching a bite for lunch in the kitchen this weekend when our nephew and new girfriend burst in the front door in cycling gear. "Sorry to barge in like this," she said as she started shedding all her clothes, "but I knew you guys are nudists and it's so hot out there, I desperately needed some full-body air-con!" Nephew shrugs, "Sorry, I mentioned it in passing the other day." My wife says, pouring lemonade, "Fitness is one thing, but on such a day?!" Poor girl!" Nephew shrugs again.
I am smiling, already imagining how to start a franchising operation for a chain of appropriately located beverage shops -- maybe called "McEden's Naturist Pitstop" -- where passing cyclists, runners, etc nearing heat-stroke could similarly take a clothes-free air-con break while resuscitating with lemonade, ice tea, Gatorade, Naked Bare Breeze Watermellon Chill, or whatever. Just another idea for associating naturism with fitness and taking it mainstream! :)

It's nude Scrabble.
I frequent a mainland club where avid Scrabble players get-together.
We always have alot of fun, totally naked of course.
Nude Scrabble can be done here in Hawaii, anywhere.

Yes, but he grew up naturist so it was normal. (In fact, he's won a couple sunclub tennis tournaments.) The two of them actually stayed for a couple hours until it was a bit cooler out. Good visit, and kind of again reinforced my impression that for many young adults, given the right circumstances, casual nudity is no big personal trauma.

I would take it one step further.
Back in time, Paul escaped to ancient Greek Turkey under the Romans. He absorbed some of the Greek concept that there are physical things and spiritural things. The body became the symbol of the physical.
Over time, the body became a source of shame.
Secular society says that the body is just a result of physical and chemical reactions and therefore not special. We learn to cover to avoid behaviors we supposedly can't control.
Young people who want to recognize how wonderful their bodies are want a way to counter these western cultural forces. The chance to enjoy some non-sexual nudity must be very liberating for them.

Very interesting angle. Makes sense that large jolts from running would stretch the ligaments. I had assumed that normal movement would have pulled on the ligaments and damaged them.
The article also mentioned some had muscle improvements in the shoulders. I wonder if this caused (aided) in better posture which contributed to the breasts "looking" firmer. Just standing up straight will cause the breasts to rise up and look firmer.
I learn something new every day. Thanks for today's lesson.

I enjoy nude hiking the most for exercise. I got out to my local National forst yesterday, which is mostly deserted through the weekdays, and enjoyed a 5 mile hike on one of the forest trails. Its been a while since I had been there and I forgot about the terrible mosquitoes on part of this trail. Other than that it was great to be there and and good for my recovering from back surgery. I also found hiking this trail much easier on the legs than walking around my neighborhood block on the streets.

For doing things nude, I prefer to hike around. Just fitness all together, I still prefer to ride my bicycle. Not only does it get you around faster, but it's more work (better cardio) and you get the breeze to cool you off that you rarely get while hiking.

Only home nude fitness done here.
Mornings are for stretching, flexibility, situps, pushups, and some yoga. About an hour a day.
Lunch time is yoga for strength and nordic trac for 20 minutes on alternating days.
Evenings are for some weight training 4 days a week for 30 to 45 minutes.
Weekends are for hiking....clothed:disappointed: After reading some of the posts here, I would like to try nude hiking, I plan on looking hard next summer for a place that would be acceptable to use.
