Many people have contributed something unusual that they've done nude. But what about unusual behavior/people that you've seen nude or in nudist situations?
Of course, like many people, I've seen a whole array of weird behavior at nudist beaches. But I was thinking more of "intriguing-odd" rather than "disturbing-odd."
I've seen odd behavior on several occasions; but the one that stand out the most for me was one particular bathing-suit wearing nudist at a resort. This lady was sitting with a friend, right in front of us, and had been nude most of the day. I hadn't even really noticed her until, for no apparent reason, she pulled a bathing suit out of her bag (a strapless, white one-piece) and put it on. Then, she started pulling away at the crotch, which came unfastened (I had never seen that before). Then, for the rest of the day, she would alternate between pulling up the bottom, lowering the top, or even doing both at the same time.
I have seen people putting on T-shirts or tank tops if it got chilly or the sun was hitting to hard. But a bottomless bathing suit? Maybe she was just very creative... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif

Nudony that was an odd experience to be sure.
I have related this story before but it falls under this topic like no other.
Several years ago (decades actually) I was in France as a student and living with a family that turned out to be nudists (one of the twin girls answered the door upon my arrival wearing a ribbon in her hair and a smile ... that was my first clue, when moma came out of the back of the house nude also and the rest of the family was wearing nothing, well let's just say I figured it out fairly quickly.).
One day we went to the Normandy beaches to have a fun day at the beach. On the beaches in France one finds varied bathing costumes across the spectrum from nude to clothed and halfway in between (funny they do have a portable curtain to change in even if they were going to be nude ... just a French thing I guess).
Of course you could tell the Americans on the beach: All agog at the bare breasts and nudity, eyes bugged out and tongues hanging out.
As the day wore on I noticed even the French started to have a ripple of astonishment rolling down the beach but I did not notice what had them stirring all I saw new was three little blonde kids looking about 6 - 9 years old playing loudly in the surf. Nothing too bad there, right?
But then I saw what was causing the stir among the locals. The mother to the three kids came around the bend following the kids and she was ORANGE. I mean from the top of her head to the soles of her feat she was orange, hair and all.
Turned out she lived locally and loved carrots but what made her so orange was that she used an old Coppertone product known as QT (as in Quick Tan) and with her Carrot fetish and her Carrot red hair to start with she was just plain old (did I mention bright) ORANGE.
To this day I have never seen anything stranger or more odd than that Orange Lady on the beach that day in Normandy.

When I was in pediatric clinic we had a child come in who was orange. Apparently he loved eating Gerber carrots...his favorite, his one, his only.
Not sure what it's called, maybe "Hyper-carrot-osis"

we were at a fantastic nude resort on the Mayan Riviera...Mexico...2 years ago...and there was a very nice older man there all by himself...named Peter...he was from Germany...and he always wore a different outfit each day such as...pink beads...and bracelets ...and a pink elastic hairpull with a pink & white daisy flower on it... around his scrotum & penis...and usually carried a little pink & white purse...with matching pink flip-flops...he was the cutest lil man...and very nice and happy ...and he was always at a table by himself...so we all made him an honorary member of the Rowdys that week...and he started sitting with our group...and we all had a blast...so if he reads this...Hola Peter...the Rowdys miss you...LOL

The bloke in the south of France who sunbathed nude but changed into a different pair of shorts or trunks every time he went into the sea; the people who wander around the naturist camp site at Cap d'Agde in the morning doing their ablutions or buying bread and milk for breakfast wearing their dressing gowns - the list could go on but they all make theworld go around.

"If you eat too many carrots, you'll turn orange. That's a fact, not something to scare your kids with (or maybe it is, but you want them to eat carrots). It's called <u>caratoderma</u>, and, while it's not proven, it may tax the body's ability to convert high concentrations of beta carotene to Vitamin A".

About a month or two ago we were sitting on a beach minding our own business when a guy not far from us came out of the sea and back to where he had left his stuff.
By his ever raising voice, it quickly became obvious that he was looking for something and was getting a little stressed about it. As if on cue, another guy walked past, asked him what he was looking for and then said he saw a bird take it and that it headed into the dunes.
For the next 10 minutes or so we watched this guy, stark naked, jumping through the vegetation on the dunes stalking and pouncing at the accused, winged assailant like an alley cat.
We had to feel for the guy for losing whatever it was, but geez it was funny! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

While wearing my swimming goggles underwater, I saw, underwater, a man and wife treading water, hooked up. They had no idea that anyone could see their difficult swimming acrobatics.

While on the nude beach down off of Ocean City, MD. we noticed a couple sunning nude. They then struggled into their bathing suit without getting up, walked to the ocean and went for a swim. They came back to their towel, sat down, and wiggled out of their wet and sandy suit to continue to sun nude. This was in the middle of hundreds of naked people. Go figure!

Hey justnudw! When did that event take place? I haven't been to Assateague for two-three years and the nude population could be counted on fingers and toes. When did the population explosion occur? I know there was some talk of legalizing the nude part of the beach but have they actually done it and caused hundreds of nudists to suddenly appear? I'm in Baltimore. If the place has changed, would love to know.

I too have seen more than once some beach visitors who are only nude when they are sunning. If they get up to walk or swim, they suit up. Maybe they are a little shy. The oddest thing I've seen at a nude beach is someone wearing the minutest little thong but never going all nude.

We must have been the oddest nude thing around once last year. At WTP, during an Open House, an employee dropped the 'busineess' keys in a dumpster. It was near the gate.
Nothing too unusual. Then I realized while taking a break from reaching in that, that the visitors first experience on coming through the gate was seeing a bunch of naked men leaning into a dumpster. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/blush.gif
As I thought about it, I commented that the naturist thing must be pretty rough if it meant we had to "dumpster dive" for a living! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif
We quit diving after that observation! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/blush.gif

Hey tinner you could just point out to the first timers "it's just the 'full moon salute' we give to all incoming guests.", when you have to "dive" like that again. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif
Of course now that you mention it I seem to recall getting that selfsame salute myself when the wife and I visited there for the volleyball tourney in the early 1990s. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

LOL, I while back I read an article by an Aussie visiting the states, and all the things he learned about being Australian from us. At "Outback" he learned for the first time about traditional Aussie tucker like "Bloomin' Onions". I found this link to a similar article. (http://www.aussieinamerica.com/food/outback.htm)

Mark, I hope we don't have any "Outback Steak Houses" (no offense meant) but we do have in the outback, outhouses out the back - we Aussies will know what that means http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif By the way when sitting on an outhouse seat in the outback you need to be careful that there are no redbacks [spiders] under the seat http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif otherwise you might get bitten on the bum http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif
I live in the "bush" but not far enough out to be called the "outback". There are plenty of steakhouses in the outback where you can buy the best beef steaks in the world or you could "put one on the barbie" yourself

The oddest thing I've seen is a family that arrived at the clothing optional beach in regular summer clothes (shirts, shorts, underwear) & were momentarily naked as they changed into bathing suits. They wore their bathing suits for the next few hours & then changed back, again being naked for a short time as they changed back to their regular clothes.
I have also seen people who wore suits only to swim (sunning nude) & those who only got naked to swim (sunning with suits on), both of which also seem a bit odd.

We've seen a few oddities:the European style of dressing to get wet, undressing to sunbathe; German girls who hold up towels for each other to shield the view while they undress and then spend the day happily nude; a guy who lost his hairpiece revealling the whitest bald head I've ever seen;a lady chasing a seagull trying to retieve a bag of corn chips (we thought the seagull was enjoying it even more than us).
The most endearing thing was meeting two retired and widowed British women in New Symrna. FL (not on the nude beach at Appollo). Both were out early surf fishing topless. However, one of the women (I would presume years ago) had a double mastectomy with its nasty scars typical of sugery at that time. Both were delightful. My wife questioned about their attire so close to the hotel (actually upscale condos). The one laughed and said she was OK she didn't have boobs, the other said someone had mentioned it once, she told them to go to hell she'd take her money somewhere else. "I love being an old broad" she laughed.
The funniest thing I ever saw, nude or otherwise: A young couple with three kids arrives, quickly disrobes, lathers everyone with sunscreen, sets up umbrellas, etc.... meanwhile the youngest little fellow, about 2-3 years old wanders off alittle ways toward the water, squats down and begins to....well, lets just say perform a bodily function men normally do sitting down. The Mother screams, umbrellas go flying, Dad is knocking over coolers, Jr. is just looking over his shoulder smiling. He is taken into the water I assume to finish the task and/or cleanup. Mother and Father have gone from a nice golden, brown tan to brilliant red. It was priceless.

The oddest (and IMHO, the most gross) thing I've seen was a guy on Hanlan's Beach in Toronto so laden down with piercings (ears, nipples, scrotum, penis, navel) that his posture was bent due to all the weight. My stomach was turning as I thought how much it must have hurt to have the pieces of metal put in initially...

Recently I saw a man walking up the beach in my direction wearing a dark suit, the Men's Warehouse type coat, pants and dress shirt. First time I'd ever seen a person wearing that kind of suit at the beach. He stopped short of my location and proceeded to completely undress. He left his clothes and walked back where he came from out of sight. About 20 minutes later he returned, got dressed and walked away again wearing the dark suit.

Not just the Swedes. I grew up in France and saw that behavior from my neighborhood pool to the beaches of the Mediterranean. Even my high-school sweetheart did that. The philosophy behind it: some ladies go topless exclusively for the tan; they actually see a big difference between lying on the beach topless and walking around/swimming topless. To them, getting up and walking around topless would be "bold"; maybe even "unsophisticated." Among my female friends, there were also some who did not bother even bringing or wearing a top at all; the difference was that they were more into topfreedom than the tan.

At a naturist health spa in London, some bizzarre people who walk around like walking mummies(as in Egyptian mummies) covering themselves with THREE towels! Even more bizzarre are some people who will keep themselves fully covered up with their towels whilst going into the large jacuzzi. And people who will even take showers whilst keeping themselves wrapped up in their towels! Strange strange people, they may as well not goto this naturist club or indeed any naturist venue if they want to keep themselves covered up at all times.

I always found it odd, that on Haulover Beach (the nude part), that I would often see something like 2 women, usually in mid 30's to 40's enjoying the beach in fully textile bathing suits among all us nudes. I guess they enjoy the scene, or possibly considering getting nude? Nothing wrong with either one. I saw this kind of thing many times, and wondered that, if they were not nude, why they were not enjoying the beach on the textile side? Must have been some good reason.

I made a similar observation in France. Sometimes women would go to the ice cream stand which is right on the beach, maybe 3 yards from where they are laying out. If they went topless, they'd sometimes get rude looks from the cashier. So I saw a mix of women putting tops on to go buy a drink or ice cream and some who didn't. Of the ones who didn't, sometimes they got rude looks but half the time, the people around didn't seem to care.
A funny thing I saw once was at Hippie Hollow. This man had a sheet with him and was doing some kind of dance. He was making theatrical movements and the wind was whipping his sheet out behind him. It didn't resemble anything I was familiar with. Interpretive dance would be my best bet. We called him Sheet Guy for the rest of the day. He kinda looked like he may have been stoned. Who knows.

Yes a towel means the same thing in the UK as the US.
I know it sounds bizarre that these people take showers and go into the jacuzzi with their towels still on, but it's true. Very very odd people!

Hello all:
This may not have been the oddest thing I've seen, but done. Back in the mid-seventies streaking on college campuses was the thing to do. As I was a year older than most of my fellow students, and since I had a GF at home (and therefore "safe"), some of the girls in the dorm across the way (quad, as it wuz called) wanted to say they went streaking. We waited until all the lights were off in the intramural (athletic) fields and at about 10:30 at night, five girls and I took of our clothes and went for a run. It was dark (really dark) so I never really saw anything to speak of, and, at least between me and any of them, nothing was ever said again. But the memory...

It is not the oddest thing I have seen, but it was memorable.
The second time I went to Holland to see my family, in 1998, I went to the nude beach in Scheveningen, the beachtown of The Hague
The textile beach was top free for most, with a sprinkling of naked children.
On the nude beach there was a crowd and I had trouble finding a spot.
What struck me was the crowd, in fact more people on the nude beach as compared to the textile part.
Then the "traffic". Along the waterline, on the hard sand, there was a constant stream of clothed people, while from the beach to the sea, there was an equal amount of naked people getting into the water.
Neither group paid any attention to the other; there was no difference between the naked and the dressed in their behaviour.
Here nudity was as common as being dressed
The beaches here near Christchurch, in summmer are largerly empty, if you move away from the most popular spots. Naked people are dotted along the dunes and a few dogwalkers pass by.
But the interaction is not there, in fact, I would hesitate to walk naked close by a textile.

I suspect they were European.

Go figure! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Same here....I really use to love going to Assateague, but since the Park Rangers started cracking down, I've not been in a few years.

</div></BLOCKQUOTE>

The strangest thing I have seen on our nude beach is a group of four, two male, two female, setting out their towels, then all carefully turning their backs to each other as they took off their clothes. Once they were all nude, they lay down on their towels and seemed fine together. Don't know if it was some sort on unconcious ingrained modesty at work, all turning their backs to take off their clothes, when they were about to spend the day nude together.

I attended the 2005 AANR national convention at Caliente Resort in Florida last August & I did notice over a period of six days a particular gentleman that always arrived at the pool at the same time, wearing black shorts and a polo shirt. Once he laid out his towel on the loungechair at the pool's edge, he would disrobe...all perfectly normal for a nudist resort. The unusual thing was whenever he got up to use the restroom about 10 yards away, or get icewater from the outdoor cafe (20 feet away), etc., he would completely dress in shorts and shirt before heading out. After the task was completed, he would return to his lounge chair and disrobe again. People in the pool area was almost 100% nude, so this really stood out.
