I hope this question or topic is not too off-the-wall. But since I was just on the subject of Halloween, how many here like watching scary movies at night? I always did it with all the lights off and would startle a person(s) during a very quiet and suspenseful part of the movie. How about you guys? I hope you don't mind me asking this question or think I'm some kind of a nut here! I am just very curious.

I love horror movies! This would be a better topic in the Off Topic section or Open Conversation!
But, I have just saw an advertisement for Eternal...Another Countess Bathory movie set in modern times!

No worries Ken! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif No rules or regs were violated. This is the forum for scary stuff (and I don't just mean movies, LOL)
As for scary movies, I dunno, maybe I'm just too jaded? I haven't seen many but the ones I have seen seemed too cartoonish to me. Maybe it comes from growing up watching Freddy Kruger go from scary to wisecracking.
Now Halloween...that kicked ***. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I love slasher and horror flicks! The Friday the 13th series is my fave, followed by A Nightmare on Elm Street. I'll watch them at night, day, or in between...

As a kid I loved waching the old B&W movies with Bella Lagosi and Lon Chaney. But I have to say the scariest movies I've ever seen were; The Exorcist, Evil Dead, and Jaws.Of course that's excluding the current horror in my life-it's called the "Bush Administation".Maybe you've heard of it.

I am also a big fan of horror movies and agree with those movies listed.... especially Dancin Bares "Exorcist" and "Evil Dead" selections. The Shining was also cool.

One of my favorite is night of the living dead, and all that have followed.

Psyco, the shower scene with Janet Leigh. She is nude and it still scares me. Imagine being attacked and being nude? The scarest!

Being a cinema projectionist by trade, I have seen plenty of scary and horror movies over the years, so it is difficult to say what my favourite would be.
What was good back in the past was when the midnight horror shows were popular, I was just a young bloke then and running a midnight show was excellent.

Back in the early 70's when I was in college, I was assistant manager at a movie theater, and we had a double feature of Clint Eastwood in Play Misty for Me and George Romero's cheapo black-and-white Night of the Living Dead.
The crowds of course came to see Clint, not having heard of Night, and they were properly scared by Misty. But Night of the Living Dead brought out screams from audiences like I have never heard any other time. Seeing it on the big screen is a whole lot different from seeing it on TV. It may be cheap and cheesy, but it is a masterpiece of building tension and then delivering the big scare.

Freddy vs. Jason was the first horror/slasher flick to hit #1 at the box office... and considering it was 10 years in the making, I'd've been disappointed with anything less (and I'd heard that a sequel may be in the works)...

THE OMEN a favourite horror film of mine, little blood and gore but the tension with the music incredibly unnerving.
For blood & gore flicks for me it has to be FRIDAY THE 13th pt1 & Dario Argento's DEMONS.

The Changeling is my favorite scary movie. George C Scott. No gore, just pure suspence. The tape recording of the sceance(sp?) still scares the crap out of me.

Not me, don't do scary movies. I can't even watch "Halloween". Will give me nightmares for weeks. My girlfriend, "Femalenudist", is the horror movie buff. I prefer suspense films and comedy.

I'm not into the horror genre but I adore the "Alien" series with Sigourney Weaver; does that count?
