I have no idea what I might have been named had I been born female (I shudder at the thought. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif) However, my middle name is my father's first name, Grover. Since it is a rather unusual name, I think he must have been named after Grover Cleveland, the US's only president to have been elected for two terms which were not consecutive.
I'm named after my maternal Grandfather and my Father. Funnily enough I got their second names, although my father was known by that name, and my brother got their first names.
I don't know what I would have been named if female.
My son is named after the guileless Apostle and his 2 Grandfathers.

My first name is after my father and my middle name is after the old family name back in Ireland, and my surname is an Anglicized derivation of the German line.
I've always gone by my middle name, because my father was 6'5" in a generation in which that was large man, and my family were fearful that if they called me by my first name, I'd wind up being called little...

My first name is after my father, but my second name I have no idea, except for Saint Michael, as my family had strong Catholic roots. Since I was adopted at an early age, my last name is of the Portuguese desent.
It's funny, when ever I am around Hispanics, they are awe-struck that I don't speak Spanish, which is what I am part of. The other part, Indian.
So I am part Mexican, part Indian that was raised in the Portuguese tradition. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

I was named following family tradition.
Every 100 years the eldest son is named for the Clan Profession, Clan Surname and Clan Status.
This century it was my honor to be named "Warrior" for my first name and "Leader" for my middle name and "Independent" for the last name.

While I have no idea for whom my dad was named after (if anyone). However my name is his first and middle names reversed. Kept everyone happy because there were several Fredericks on both side of the family.

I was named after my great grandfather a distinguished southern gentlemen Alan Beauregard Dennis. Very thankfully they left out the Beauregard part. Dennis is my mothers maiden name and my middle name.

My mother wanted to name me Dorcas, after the Biblical character, but was overruled by my father. So my first name is that of my maternal grandmother, and my last name (entirely of my own devising; I legally changed it years ago in a family protest) incorporates my paternal grandmother's middle name and my husband's surname. 40 years after I was born, I finally have a name I can live with!

My father is Dennis and "Denita" (as I was always told by mom) means Denny's dear little one...or something like that. I go by Dee most of the time though....it's less formal!

My first name comes from my fathers side, I think I am the fifth generation with the same first name, could be more. Do not know where my middle name comes from, I think I will ask and find out.

I was named after my father. My middle name is for my paternal grandfather.
I am not considered a junior since I have a different middle name than my father.
As for what I may have been named if I was born female, well I just don't have any idea. That never came up in any converstations with mom and dad.
My sisters did have other names if they where born as males and those names would have been the male versions of thier given names.

Is it just me or is it too funny that "Nimrod" posted this without using his real name? Are we to assume that the name "Nimrod" comes from his father's side of the family?? Is he a 5th generation "Nimrod"? Perhaps he gets his looks from his father's side too. Going by the picture, family gatherings must be a real circus.
