It seems to me that this cartoon may offend women who have had a mastectomy.

I know that the mamogram test involves squashing the breast flat. This must be uncomfortable and probably painful

NOT A FUNNY CARTOON

I agree. I was shocked when I saw it. The only thing I can think of is that after seeing the Doctor, the Doc said it was safer for breast health to wear no bra, and that is what has happened in the picture from top to bottom. Maybe I am reading it wrong, but I too was surprised with this weeks edition.

Can't quite figure out what it has to do with nudism. As for promoting Breast health awareness, it seems aimed in the opposite direction. And not particularly funny - but we can't always get funny and message in the same comic.

A slight edit, a better message (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0895296640/104-9413986-7377512?v=glance) . Still not funny:

Well I have to agree with you OZJames, as well. It is very insulting, but I am only saying this from a man's point of view. I would love to know what our female topic readers may think about this weekly cartoon post. I feel, that there is nothing funny about cancer and especially a woman being responsible in going to get a routine check-up mamogram.

Come on INA, this is not a laughing matter. Why don't ya, stick to the normal nudist cartoons, each week.

The cartoon was meant to alert women to get a mammogram. The cartoon idea came from Jan, Netnude's owner, from where the cartoons are published.

I am not sure what she suggested Ron Coleman to draw specifically, but he just takes ideas and goes in his own direction.

For me, it is just telling women to endure the breast vise and stay healthy.

That is probably a fairly good interpretation. Also, many very flat breasts can be very artificially propped up and made to look "perky and full" by bras. I would love to see saggy natural breast be the norm. I personally go bra-free much more often, though there are still places where I don't feel comfortable enough....yet.

I know a Ron Coleman. Shall I ask him?? http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Ok I understand, that Ron Coleman didn't mean any harm, but a cartoon on nudists with some kind of pink ribbons would of been a lot better, meaning of breast cancer awareness.
Anyway I am totally sorry, but I thought that this was a naturist website and forum. This particular cartoon post, has nothing to do with naturism. Maybe with breast cancer, but not with naturism. I think it could been done better, with both breast cancer awareness and with naturism in mind.

It's a highly relevant and serious topic. My wife's sister has just found "something" in her breast. Too soon to know what. Her name is Waynina and I would like to ask for anyone who can to pray for her. Thank you.

At first I was a little surprised at the cartoon. But, any reminder for women to go for mammy-grams http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif is better then none. Being slightly uncomfortable for a short period of time is no reason to avoid testing.

That being said, I can't tell you that I am looking forward to how Ron Coleman reminds the community to get colonoscopy and prostate screenings.

It's a lot more than "slightly uncomfortable" undfortunately, especially if you get someone that doesn't take care to place it right.

I've screamed at the top of my lungs to let it loose and had the operator ignore me. If I hadn't been attached so well I would have had my hands around her neck.

I don't read the cartoons because I've almost never found him to be funny.

I brought up going braless on a soap opera newsgroup recently and got badly trounced for trying to explain that it's healthier. They didn't accept the research done in "Dressed to Kill" and said it was hogwash.

Regaurdless of how its presented, It is very important to have your breast checked routinely as the message is impying! My mother found a lump, had a masectomy and cancer treatments, and full reconstruction, then eleven years later, with being checked yearly, found another lump in the other breast and had a partial masectomy and all the treatments again. then about three years later died of liver cancer, they said that was a different type of cancer though.

I agree with you. The cartoons aren't funny.

Breast cancer awareness should be brought up in a more serious setting. There is nothing funny about this.

The mammogram being uncomfortable? Guys, immagine having your penis placed in a vice and I think you might start to get the idea.

The new equipment is much less unpleasant than it was 15 years ago or even 3 years ago. The tighter the compression, the better the picture. Monthly self checks are also important.

I've been bra-less for @ 4 yrs. or more (don't remember). Another important bit of info, if you have any breast discomfort from hormone cycles or fibrocystic breast disease, 800 UIs of Vitamin E will help a lot.

Thanks for replacing the cartoon.
As indicated by others, it had a purpose behind it; yet it was not humourous like a person would normally expect.

Excellent reminder. Men need to do breast exams also.

Personally, I thought the cartoon was NOT offensive. Though I can imagine why those who are not familiar with mammograms might have received the wrong impression about it. Here's what it looks like:

Also happened to find this mammogram cartoon:

The problem I had with it was that it seemed more likely to encourage women to skip the exam.

http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gifTrue, but I agree with the message conveyed by the one without the bra. I still believe they have a lot to do with causing breast cancer.

I wonder how Coleman would try to humorise men having a prostate test http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Some people are more adept at humor than others; especially when it comes to cartoonists. He'll occasionally have his moments, but overall, I would rank Rom Coleman as about average in terms of punchline : art ratios.

But hey, just think...By Monday, it'll be something different.

His cartoon about the mammogram was bad enough! http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
I'm sure that the mammogram cartoon was done with the best intentions, so let's give Mr. Coleman a break.
And by the way...guys, the prostrate test is like a visit to the dentist. The sooner it's over with, the better! Get tested!!!
Ladies, get your pap smears and mammograms.
If you wish to attack my conservative views in my past and future posts, I want you all to be in good health when you do!

I like today's cartoon and got a chuckle out of it. It's typical of what a textile man's attitude would be when encountering a nude woman (without his wife being present). http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

How many men would put on a righteous act in front of their wife, but would act entirely different when they're alone? I have never in my life been offended at seeing a nude woman, man or child--even before I got into social nudism.

Well, I don't know if I'd want to see anything that makes my feet turn outward 90 degrees like that. Ouch!

Bob S.

I can do that, Moboy. It doesn't hurt. But then, I can also stand with my feet pointed in opposite directions.

An update and praise report. My sister in law got a clean bill of health. The point remains to check. If something is caught early doctors can do a lot, when things are only found late it's a different story.
