Sunday, June 20th, the Summer Solstice as well as World Humanist Day will be celebrated at The Ethical Society of St. Louis. The leading anthropologist of the Cahokia Mounds will give a lecture there, then, about the summer solstice ritual celebrations of the ancient peoples.

I have been reading the Christians posts about nudity in respects to their religion(s). It seems that they have quite a tussle over it. I haven't join in for obvious reasons however it got to wondering about the people that follow the Old Ways and their views. It seems to me that nudity and paganism seems to go hand in hand. Any thoughts?

MM Shaman,
In my mind, they go together quite well. There's the whole issue of "a sign that you are free," but there's also the fact that nudity just feels more honest in a way. It helps to break with the mundane world and enter a ritual space/mindset. It's hard to engage in "power over" without the trappings of status or position. Besides, the gods have seen it all, anyway -- why hide?
Like everything else, though, I think this is something that each individual has to figure out on his own. There's no "one size fits all" answer.
