They are doing an outstanding job and thus they are certainly legitimate in my opinion.

Does making a profit make INA not legitimate somehow??? Try advocating anything effectively without money. I had a web site (before the one I have now, which wouldn't exist apart from INA's support) where I tried other avenues (like having an online store that sold outdoor stuff nudists could use at the beach or pool) to raise income to more effectively promote nudism, it got lots of hits but earned NO money, zero, notta, zip. What Corky is doing IS earning money to be able to advocate nudism. And they are expanding what they are able to do, the recent trip to the beaches event and their coverage of that is a good example.

Right now I'm planning another type of advocacy organization where nudity would be just one of several issues, but again the largest obstacle is getting money to fund it. What Corky is doing IS bringing in income to fund INA objectives, I applaud him for it.

I just wish I had thought of it first!

"Non-profit" doesn't mean that you don't make any funds; it means that the money you raise is tied directly to the activities you carry out and any profits raised are plowed back into those activities rather than distributed to shareholders.

It is possible to be a "non-profit" advocacy organisation and still make enough money to advocate your various causes. I worked for several years for a small non-profit activist organisation that was extremely effective and had a budget of over $1mil per year. Organisations like Greenpeace are also non-profit organisations, even though they deal with massive amounts of money.

I don't consider that one has to be a non-profit organisation to be a legitimate advocacy group. However, if there is no profit motive associated with one's advocacy, it can enhance legitimacy.

I'm not making any comments about INA because I don't know enough about its structure; just some general comments.

This is the best site I have seen on nudism. THE BEST!!!! Trust me I am a conscientious shopper. The competators don't have a chance.

All joking aside this is a warm, cuddley and infomative place for nudists. I am very happy here. Why is it that we only preceive groups that writhe (spelling?) on the ground in hunger spouting out there beliefs right before the keel over and head to the big round up in the sky as being legit. INA is the real deal. (wonders if he has earned his free membership yet) I love you INA.

In all seriousness INA has been great to me and from what I see it has been great to all of us. I say KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

I don't usually brag about this, but I am user number 111. That means I have been on this forum longer than most of you. I was posting unregistered for a while on this forum back when we didn't require registration numbers, so my number could have been lower than it is.

I was skeptical at first. So for over two years I have been waiting for INA to screw up, to do something that would make me want to point my middle finger at them and wave it in the air, but they have been steady as a rock. They have broken up some really bad dog fights, and I must say Bart and Corky, to name a few, are incredible peacemakers.

INA is making money. They never hid that fact, but making money is not their mission statement. Making money is just one of life's necessities that we can't escape.

INA is about reaching people that the older more clannish nudist/naturist groups are not reaching.
But INA is not trying to replace them. INA has reached out to these two biggest naturist groups and offered their services. There is a definite spirit of cooperation. At the same time, INA is definitely in their face about greater accessibility to resorts for singles and pushing for activities to attract teens and young adults.

INA offers lots of photos for paying members and yet they are very generous with forum access for those of us who can't afford to pay. INA has always taken a stand for real non-sexual nudism and acted quickly to break links to porn sites. All the photos are in good taste. These pictures are a glimpse into a better world, a taste of how much better life without clothes obsession can be.
There are a lot of people who really need to see the message the photos share and get their questions answered in the forums.

Is INA perfect? No! They are a young organization and have many areas where improvement is needed. But they are big enough to admit that they need ideas from outside their inner circle. I honestly feel that they really listen to our criticisms and praises with equal enthusiasm. I will be dishing out both praise and criticism of INA as long as I am permitted to visit this forum.

So take it from someone who has been here longer than most, INA is a legitimate nudist organization and they are doing good things every day. Let's hang with them and challenge them to "one up" their great record!
