Neat story and photo, NakedGary. Check out Alps host mass naked photo shoot (http://clothesfreeforums.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/6880058252/m/3980023605) for links to another story and photos.

A bit too cold for me, but hey, they managed to get some brave volunteers. I wonder how long they were without their clothes?

They showed a short news movie about the photo shoot in Finnish tv news. I am not sure if frontal close-up images were seen, but at least bare butts. Prime time, no warnings.

This Spencer Tunick stuff is starting to get old - it was novel at first, but as the years roll on it's the same old thing. Hundreds of people lying down naked as if killed in wartime. It's thinly veiled political propaganda - OK - we get it already!

Down here, they showed it on normal prime time news reports yesterday - and yes, it was full frontal exposure, with none of that ridiculous fuzzying that comes out of the USA...

You'd be surprised how warm it can be up on a glacier, I was quite surprised when I flew up to Fox Glacier in New Zealand, the sun was brilliant and warm, just don't sit down too long though.

Hundreds strip naked on glacier in global warming protest
<UL TYPE=SQUARE>"Aletsch Glacier, Switzerland — An emergency provokes extreme responses: human beings in danger will abandon social niceties, etiquette, and the norms of acceptable behaviour to raise an alarm any way they can when lives are in danger. Today, six hundred people shed their clothes on a glacier in the Swiss Alps to bodily cry out for help against a planetary emergency: global warming."[/list]

It may be warm air on the glacier but to lay down on the ice nude is another story. Not so sure that would be a welcome comfort. To each their own !

I agree Bob S. It was a reported 50°F (10°C) and that's way to chilly for this old desert rat to be on a glacier, au naturel.
Didn't see anything on the internet about how long the volunteers were in the buff. But as you can see in this photo, and the above YouTube video, it had to be a long time.
Sent the photo to a textile friend yesterday and her response was, "OMG - ARE THOSE PEOPLE BAREFOOTED!?! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif " Later she viewed the YouTube video and saw that "those people" were wearing fabric slippers on the glacier, sometimes, but were always bare... http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/wink3.gif

This is a "cool" computer monitor wallpaper on a record tying 113° day in Phoenix, Aridzona. That's the 29th day this year we've had a high temp of 110° or higher, a new record http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/rolleyes2.gif

"This Spencer Tunick stuff is starting to get old..." GOOD! The more his stuff is shown to the public, the more acceptable nudity may become. That's worth daring to be "Old Hat".
