It wasn't an option, but I usually hang up. Especially those people who call ME and say they have a very important message and to please hold. Has anyone in the history of man ever held for that? If it's THAT important, have a person call me when they can actually talk.

I also hang up to. If it is that important why dont they use a real person to talk to you and not a computer. i also dont talk to voice mails

Only been put on hold once, it was when the bad people at a clothes store in town took my dads credit card thinking i had stolen someones card, i went straight home and called there store and got put on hold, i waited half an hour before i hung up and just waited till my dad got home to take him in and get his card back, but at least i got 100 pounds free vouchers for the embaressment and inconvience.

But anyway i played with my hair when i was on hold.

If i'm put on hold for more than 2 minutes, I hang up. Its something I've learned at the office. Your obviously not that important, if your put on hold for more than 2 minutes, and you could move on to more important things. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Most of time I either sing along with the muzak or goof off on the computer.

I can't believe only four people have voted thus far.

I hang up. Can't vote when the obvious choice is missing.

Yep! I hang up! I hate that crap! If the thing is supposed to be that darn important the least they can do is put a live person at the end of the line. I have to really want to talk to someone to stay on the line. I guess I just don't have the patience to deal with this stupid stuff.

None of the above. I pace the floor. It depends on how important the call is and how difficult it is to get a real person to talk to as to how long I wait before hanging up.

I had to make a phone call today to some people who always put me on hold for a long time, so I went to a private part of my yard with a glass of lemonade, my cordless phone and a couple of towels. I relaxed on my yard lounge (nude of course) and enjoyed the sun and the gentle breeze. After a very lengthy wait, my turn came in the phone queue, but I wasn't stressed at all!

I, too, hang up. Sorry, but that should have been an option as one of the choices. http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I often doodle, usually scribbling angles.

After about a minute or so, I hang up. There should have been that choice on the poll also.

Hang-up!!! How important can you/it be if they are willing to put you on hold???????? Sure it may be rude but I got better things to do than sit on hold!!

Melissa </div></BLOCKQUOTE>I've had that happen before once or twice, and I hang up. Otherwise, if I call and get put on hold, I'll wait a few minutes to see what happens, and if no one bothers to help me, I'll hang up and try again later. I've got more important things to do than sit and wait while someone is taking their time doing who knows what.

Th espeakerphone was a great invention. I will put the speakerphone on and continue with what needs addressed or sometimes I just sit and doodle. It gives me time to practice the graphic facilitation skills!

If I am at work, I will click the speaker-phone and keep on doing "work". If I am at home, I have to use the speaker anyway (newer phones don't seem to be compatable with hearing-aids) so it's no problem to pick up a book or do a crossword.

However, while at work, there are times I get calls that may require me to pull older retain files (Paper variety). In such cases, I will tell the caller "This may take several minutes. Do you want to hold or is there a number I can call you back at? That way the caller had his (or her) choice. So no crying about it later. Besides, most of the calls I take are Military... where 'Hurry up and wait' is a big part of thier every day life.

If the call was placed to me...I hang up.

If I placed the call and wait a while, then I hang up, call back and press buttons until I get a person, I refuse to hold. I make them explain what they are working on to help me and talk while they do their computer thing. If I do not get the answer I am looking for...I do it all over again.

again my answers were not any choices on the poll either.

If it's a call I make, it depends on the importance of the call and whether there is another time I can call without a long hold. I have a speakerphone at home, so it's no big deal to just carry on with life while I carry the phone around with me.

Depends on my mood and what the call needs to be about. If i feel more blown off than put on hold, i hang up, call right back and say that we got disconnected somehow, lol. That usually gets me right thru.
Sorry, this choice wasnt on the poll list of choices.
Did anyone of you know also, that you can start hitting zero on those automatic calls and get a life person pretty quick? Try it, you'll like it.
