A New Jersey man was arrested last Thursday after a family spotted him having a shower in his front garden.

Why take a shower in the front yard? At least add a wall to block others from seeing.

Although it is interesting that this is not the first time he did this, as one of the girls noted:

When she spotted Michaux showering, one of the girls reportedly commented: 'Mom, there's Fred taking a shower outside again.' Which is pretty much the money quote for this article.

That makes me assume that this girl has seen him showering naked in his front yard before. And guess what? She is fine! Nothing evil happened to her!

I guess showering is a lewd act then, for that is the only act he was actually doing.

It is obvious children dont have a problem with the human body, adults do.

Since it's obviously a false charge, I hope he has the insight and wherewithal to plead not guilty. When people forget to think, they tend to lie down like sheep and let "authority" walk all over them.

I agree that seemed to be okay in the past until all of a sudden 'yikes, he's naked, again'. This guy obviously pushed the envelope too much, but then this time someone reported him, in this case, the girls' mother. He should have taken precautions and put up a wall, or just go in the backyard or inside. But in the front yard in full view? The guy just isn't thinking. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

The guy is clearly an idiot for doing this in his FRONT yard.

But 'lewdness' is the wrong charge. Showering isn't a sex crime no matter how you slice it.

why shower in the front yard. Doesn't he have a back yard in which to do so. At least there he would have some say in the matter. Again, there is a time and a place for everything, and that was obviously not it. Well, I hope he had fun while doing though. Maybe we should protest and not take showers and go to court. LOL Anyways, I hope he gets off with a slap on the hand and he learns his lesson, which is shower in the backyard. LOL

he should have a privacy fence around the yard. not my idea of lewdness but that's the law.

One of our church members, a nurse, showed some slides of her mission trip to one of those small countries in the north end of South America. She said they'd shower in the open air right in front of their houses and wave to those passing by. That's the way it ought to be here.

Another case of bad judgement and over-reaction of the legistlative body to enact such a stupid thing as being seen nude in public is a sex crime. Will the pendulum ever swing back?

I was in Greece recently, and saw many people showering in the open after going swimming in the sea. Noone seemed to make anything of it except tourists who rudely stared at the women.

I would imagine that this man's house also has a hose bib in the backyard if he really felt the need for an outdoor shower. In my humble opinion, acts such as this hurt the cause of clothes free freedom in our country.

acts such as this hurt the cause of clothes free freedom in our country.

The only thing that "hurt the cause" in this case, was the mother that reported the "crime".

Had she been open minded and accepting of other peoples lifestyles she would have simply driven by and not made any issue of it.

Like the examples given by other posters, It's not such an unusual thing in other parts of the world. Why should it be here?
