Did anyone see Going Tribal last night on the Discovery Channel? The premise is Bruce Perry, an Aussie I think, visits different tribes around the world. Last night he was in Ethiopia with the Suri tribe. I was disappointed in that Bruce never went tribal. What perfect opportunity missed! At the beginning of the program there was a warning that there was "indiginous nudity". Hey, if a black american actor goes native, would it still be indiginous nudity? http://clothesfreeforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif It's a shame only the tribesman were shown native. Next week he travels to West Papua to live with a tribe with a cannibal background. I wonder if he'll get native with them? Here's the link to the site on Discovery Channel.

There was an excellent documentary [1] "If Only I Were an Indian" which documents the group of Czechs and Slovaks as they in, Eastern Europe, attempt to live as traditional Native Americans. There was some nudity though that probably stems more from Czech/Slovak culture than Native American.

While we're on the topic may I also recommend the movie "The Fast Runner" ("Atanarjuat") [2] [3].

If this is interesting, you might want to check out "Beyond Civilization" by Daniel Quinn. He advocates tribal lifestyle, but not exactly the "tribal life" you would expect.

I did happen to catch the show and was also wondering how "tribal" he was going to get. I don't think he even took off his shirt! What a wasted chance to enjoy the simple life of the tribe!
