I wrote a little rant about the recent posting of a nude photo of Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) on my blog. Yet another star butt naked.

Good rant. I agree.

When I first heard about it and heard that she admitted it was her, I thought she was pretty brave. Now (possibly/ probably) to protect her career, she is apologising for it. I also wasn't thrilled with :
On Friday, a Disney Channel spokesperson released this statement: "Vanessa has apologized for what was obviously a lapse in judgment. We hope she's learned a valuable lesson."

Being naked is not a lapse in judgment. Taking a nude picture is not a lapse in judgment. Posting private nude pictures of someone without their consent is a lapse in judgment.

One day, I'd love a popular young celebrity to say "yeah, that's a picture of me naked. So what? I'm a nudist and there's nothing to be ashamed of."

Of course, I'm dreaming....

Posted a similar rant on my Blog as well and within 20 minutes had comments on it ... it is the hot topic on the net right now.
I had wondered on my Blog what would be the next "scandal" to take our minds off the really important things back at the end of August for the month of September. I guess we know the answer to that, don't we?!

nacktman, why not post a link to your rant so everyone can read it?

I just came across this article (or rant, rather) on MSN:
In Defense of Nude Celebrities (http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=275194)

I think it was pretty well-written and agrees with our lifestyle.

At our Youth Leadership camp last summer was a terrific 12 years old young lady whose mom posted the following comment on another forum:

"Our 12 y/o daughter looked at the picture and said "So What".

She knew exactly who it was without seeing the name and it did not bother her in the least. She said "If people did not make a big deal out of it; it would not be a big deal". "

From the mouths of babes.

Amen. She did nothing wrong. She's an attractive young woman and apparently wanted to preserve or share that or something. Fine and dandy. Someone else posting it without her o.k. was uncool but that's the only wrong doing in this story. It's a shame that results in so much to do.

Yes, I fail to see what on earth she has to apologized for. The only one who should be ashamed is the one who let these photos lose on the web without her permission. I'm sure the Europeans are again laughing at America's hysteria.

This is pretty interesting. It seems even main stream news is seeing a slow, very slow, accepting attitude. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/applause.gif

Maybe she is Nudist at heart. I'm glad the uproar over this lasted 2 or 3 days. I guess you can thank OJ and Britney and Paris and the Political campaigning.

Its a tatsteful photo thats good.

http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/idea3.gifmaybe Clothesfree TV should get an interview with her.

Good for her. She did NOTHING wrong and it's good to see her be so cool about it. Shame on those who attempted to treat it as a "scandal".

I wonder how sick and tired she is of the same question inevitably popping up again, and again...and again.

BTW, HSMIII is a resounding No 1 at the box office right now. I'm sure she's not hurting too badly.

I wish when I go to buy the High School movies for my collection that I could let them know I only bought the movie to support, Her, and other stars like her. It is nice to see nude people that are not lude.

I don't think she's that tired of it at all. For someone who considers it a private closed matter she talks about it a lot. The shelf life of a Disney Princess is pretty short and it never hurts to have a little edge so that you can get more adult roles after you turn 20. Just ask former Mouskateers Britney Spears & Christina Agulera or Anne Hathaway and Miley Cyrus.

I don't think that the pic is dirty or inappropriate or anything but sending a nude cell phone bedroom pic to your BF (by a non-nudist) is clearly sending a certain message to both him and anyone who it leaked to.

I wonder if she would ever consider visiting a clothing optional resort ? Or would ANY the resort goers not be able to keep a secret ?

Bob S.

Bobby, it isn't about whether the nudists at the resort would be able to keep a secret, it is about whether she would be able to get to the resort without a papparazzi tailing her. That is one of the biggest reasons why you will not find celebrities going to a nudist resort if they were nudists. The papparazzi are relentless and will follow them, possibly even try to take pics from outside the grounds or even find a way through the heavy wooded areas (if there are any) to find the celebrity inside the grounds.

Exactly. You have no privacy, as there are always people out there looking to get pictures of you. People evidently forget that celebrities are human beings too, and are entitled to the same basic considerations you would want. I for one am glad I'm not a celebrity, because I couldn't handle the absolute lack of any semblance of a private life.

Epically thanks to camera phones someone would be all about taking pictures. Sure that could cost them their membership at that resort, but who needs that when you can sell the pics to the tabloids for a half a million dollars?

One of the problems is that there is a market for pics like that. People are people. :sneaky: If, like that 12 year old daughter, it was "no big deal" to the general public then of course there wouldn't have been this international incident.

Hey Walt Iliff. That was neat about how the 12-year old girl reacted to seeing the nude photo of Vanessa. But you are probably aware that not all girls are going to react like that upon seeing the picture. That 12-year old is probably one in 10 who will come up with that kind of a reply or reaction unless I am wrong here.
