I have read posts on this site about cordoning off part of a public beach for nudist use.Due to the logistics of doing this,eg.extra policing, trouble makers etc,I have an interesting idea!

A 8 foot fence is put up that extends into the water somewhat to cordon off the nude area.

A gate would give a person access to the nude area, from the adjacent textile beach or the parking lot,but only with a swipe card. The swipe card would be made available for a nominal fee from the appropriate gov't agency or county or whatever.

Start off with a set% of beach area first, then adjust accordingly.

Who would complain? The area is fenced off. To get in you need a swipe card,so you obviously know what you are getting into.Fees from the swipe card would pay for the fence.

Has anybody else thought of this idea.I got the idea from work. We use a swipe card to gain access to a REFINERY.

In theory it sounds like a good idea. In practice, I can't see it because weather would affect your card reader. I do agree that public beaches should designate part of the beach for nude use and that a fence sounds reasonable.

Weather affecting a card reader is a very minor hurdle. What about aweatherproof box, solar panel, and backup battery?

One of the reasons for my swipe card idea is because of the 'EXCUSES' for not having a nude section of beach is FIXED with the swipe card idea.

I was on a job a few years ago,a live operating refinery and we gained access with a swipe card. And this is 'POST 9/11!'

The very first thing the 'government authority' will do is prohibit minors from getting 'the card'. No family outings (see 'Hippy Hollow' in Texas).

It will weed out hesitant first timers from being brought by friends.

It will prevent spur of the moment nude beach trips (a common 'reluctant spouse' strategy).

Gawkers will gladly pay for 'the card'.

What I would do if I had the dosh, would be to pay for political influence and have a whole housing development set up where part of the contract of buying a property and renting one, would state that it is a 'clothing optional' suburb.

One could roam the street in the nude. Even go shopping if you got somewhere to keep your money that doesn't require pockets.

The estate would be security monitored so that only by holding a security card can you enter unless you have prior permission to visit.

What an excellent place to hold huge nudist festivals in the park.

I also use a "swipe" card at the headquarters of the large rental agency I work for. Weather doesn't seem to bother it whatsoever.

One of the nice things about the nude beach is the natural experience. I would find that the fence would take that away.

If the beach is large enough, I think it is enough to designate an area and place it on a map.

Then perhaps a certain distance from the nude beach, a sign could be posted saying something like "clothing optional section of beach begins in 100 yards." Then a sign at the 100 yard point could say "beginning of clothing optional beach".

This would keep the cost low and no one would accidentally come upon the beach.
