Would be great to find or develop a non landed nudist group here in central Va. There is a good population of nudist folk here but are very shy about meeting or connecting outside of resorts. Would be excellent to have local friends that share this.

It seems everyone is closet-nudists. They drink the same way. Have known people to drive to other countys to buy booze so no one who knows them will see them buy. Insane !!!! Only i n the south where they still fight the Civil War. Insane !!!

Internet meetings can be other than good but there is a way to get thru all that. A simple phone conversation is the very best way to begin. This way one can discuss the values, philosophys and goals of the other person. From there a better judgement can be made. E-mail is also a very good way to begin even before the phone call, but if no one answers those who reach out, nothing will ever happen.

As part of AANR's mentor program, I have helped more than a dozen nonlanded clubs begin and develop plus a couple of landed parks. I'd be more than happy to help with anyone's startup.
Use any or all of the information below. Let me know how it's going.
Regards, Cheri
1- Get a PO Box that you can use for the club. You should contact the phone company and ask about distinctive ringing or RingMaster. For only $3/month you can have another phone number, but it runs on the current phone lines.
2- You should also incorporate. Worse case scenario: you have an event during which people drink. One person hits a school bus; the parents/families can sue everyone in the club.
3- I guess the first thing you really ought to do is pick out a name for your group. I like the ones that do not indicate that they are nudists since if you do have tshirts or other accessories, people are more likely to buy them.
4- When you fill out the paperwork for AANR, check PROPRIETARY non-landed club. Do not have officers, you run it. You can have committee chairs and assistance. I pretty much run the Travelites as a democracy, but I have final say. The only elections we have is for delegates to the conventions.
5 - You should also affiliate with The Naturist
Society. The more your club's name gets out the better. Associate your name with the club, eg, Cheri Alexander = Travelites for recognition purposes.
6-Below is our current application and bylaws. They can also be found on the web at
http://pages.prodigy.net/travelites.
I'll happily send you as a Word attachment the
brochure for reluctant partners. You can photocopy that brochure for use as often as you need for the purpose for which it was created.
Let me know if there's any thing else I can help with. When it comes to advertising I'll be glad to mail what was successful here.
Hugs, Cheri
=====================
Dear Prospective Member(s):
Thank you for your inquiry about the Travelites. We are a family-oriented group affiliated with the American Association for Nude Recreation, formerly the American Sunbathing Association, (AANR) and The Naturist Society (TNS) since 1987. The founding members have been nudists for at least several years and some for over thirty.
Our ages vary from infancy to over 65.
The nudist philosophy is simple: being nude is
natural. Nudists believe that clothing restricts the enjoyment of activities. Nudists are not opposed to wearing clothes. There are many valid reasons for doing so: weather, safety while working, health. Nudists do not (as some people believe) check their clothing at the gate.
Simply put--clothed when practical, unclothed when possible.
We are a group of couples, singles, and families who enjoy being together to socialize, enjoy sports, games, and family activities. We travel to club members' homes (some have pools, hot tubs, trails, ping pong, volleyball court, horseshoes), to area lakes and rivers when available (for sailing, boating, canoeing, and swimming), and to landed clubs (those with permanent facilities) in our area and in
other states to practice our belief of nudism. We
also have clothed events and are involved in community services such as the Adopt-A-Highway program. All are sincere people. It is great having so many best friends.
Please print out the below application and return it completed with a $5 check or money order made out to Travelites, Inc. If you are accepted for membership, this will be applied toward your first year's membership. When we receive the completed application, we will call to make an appointment for you to meet with the membership committee usually over a cup of coffee or cola at a Shoney's.
If we are acceptable to each other, you will be
invited to a function. (See by-laws for visitation privileges. If you live a great distance away, we will call and to speak
with you on the phone or email you.
Looking forward to meeting you. We appreciate your interest in our group. Since we are an AANR club, if you are married, we prefer you join with your spouse.
Sincerely,
Cheri Alexander

This seems like an awful lot of paperwork just to socialize with other people nude. Is possibly a good reason why there are few non landed clubs in existance. It becomes a club when dues are collected, but not until. Otherwise is simply a legal social gathering. That is all I am seeking.

The only problem with that is IF someone over-drinks & has an accident. EVERYONE at the event is liable as well as the host. Plus, with the umbrella of the national organizations, it gives your club/group legitamacy. Anything worthwhile does take a bit of work.
I do wish you well.

Is a damn shame lawyers have put everyone at such risk that the actions of another can involve you in suit action as a defendant. That is not fair at all. Damn lawyers !

Not so much the Lawyers, it's the greedy people and the judges who don't throw out the frivolous cases. Don't lump all lawyers into that category. There are some who have integrity.

I agree yet there are those judges who don't throw out those frivelous cases and for sure there is a lawyer pushing it.
I have met a couple good lawyers but most specialize in 'anything that walks thru the door' mentality. There is a buck to be made in all that and they strive for the almighty buck at the expense of much other value.
Such is the price we pay for democracy.
