I'm sure this has been covered in the past. But I'm saddened, perplexed, and concerned over the lack of female voices in this forum. However, this can be said for Naturism in general.

The Dictionary defines Nudism as: "The belief in or practice of going nude, especially in secluded, sexually mixed groups for reasons of health." More and more this forum (and the Nudist Movement) is becoming like a male locker room. Everyone is naked, but they're all guys.

So my question is how do we attract more females to Naturism, and even this forum?

Hello gl1212. This is an excellent question. I have been struggling to figure that one out myself. I think it is common knowledge that a lot of females, even they may be nudists, are uncomfortbale around a proportionate number of males whether it be in typed conversation or even more so in person. Let's face it! From what I understand, most females do not want to be nudists because they possibly fear that a bunch of guys will be gawking at them for the obvious wrong reasons. I have talked to many females in general and they have told me they would feel comfortable nude around other females. I know it is sad, but it is a hard fact of this environment that we males have to deal with whether like it or not.

This is not the entire truth. Men are dominating here more than in real naturism. Females can talk about all things more honest and openly, males have to write anonymous. Shame on us males.

On my avatar the people are females. There is also stamp with males and I'm a male but I think that here are too many pictures of males. I hope there is 50/50 but not like the scottish horse and rabbit sausage, one horse and one rabbit like it is here.

There are a number of women who regularly read this forum. But I for one don't tend to post unless I feel that I can contribute something unique and of value. Also, after a while many of the topics repeat themselves (including this one) so it gets a bit boring. But I have to say that when I first started going to naturist events, this forum was of great value to me.

Fully agreed. It happens also by us. My wife reads this forum but never writes. She says please could you write it.

Yes, I also agree. Is kind of like a school dance, all the guys on one wall staring at all the girls on the other wall but nary the two meet! Sad

This forum is typical of the internet, but not of nudism. Almost all internet forums are overwhelmingly male dominated except for those few that are focussed specifically on female interests.

My observations in organized social nudism is that participation is fairly uniformly around 40% female and 60% male - even when there is no attempt made at gender balancing. That is from experience in several clubs and social gatherings not specifically reserved for couples. Public beaches tend to be a bit more male dominated, but you'll notice that the activist nudist core probably adhers to the same 40/60 ratio.

Generally speaking, in social nudism you'll find a large majority of the participants are couples, with a small group of unaccompanied males and almost no unaccompanied females. This dynamic keeps the 40/60 ratio fairly constant.

Online forums (with the noted exceptions) tend to be 90% male or more. Many possible reasons; guys tend to post with little provocation, women tend to wait until they have something worth saying. Many of the 'male' posters may be females with no particular desire to be indentified by gender - often for good reason.

I'll bet that the number of readers is a lot more balanced than the number of posters.

I wouldn't take that bet Mark, because I think you're right. I wouldn't want to lose ... I don't mind losing anything at anytime except money ... as you know we Scots invented copper wire arguing over a penny! http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/laugh.gif

The young man sitting on the other side of the room had had a BB-gun accident as a child, and it was well-known in the community that he had an artificial eye made of wood.

He soon tired of sitting there alone and approached the young lady to ask if she'd like to dance with him. In her enthusiasm she leapt up from her chair, exclaiming, "Would I! Would I!"

He took a step back, pointed to her lower extremities, and yelled, "Pegleg! Pegleg!" then returned to his chair and glared for the rest of the evening...
