By sheer quality of the image (including size), I'd go with the cartoon image. If you have a larger beach image, though, that could work, too. However, I really don't have the right to make such a choice for you anyway. It's your avatar.

You mean your avatar?
Click on "My Profile/Messages" at the top of the forum. When the profile screen appears click on "View/Edit Complete Profile" which is located to the right near the top of the page.
Scroll down to "Avatar / Picture URL: " and click on EDIT
You can then upload a custom avatar or use one of the pics provided by the site.
If this doesn't help or isn't what you were asking, PM me.

Are you talking about an avatar?
Go into My Profile/Messages at the top of the page. Your profile will appear.
Click the View/Edit Complete Profile. A form will appear.
Under Avatar/Picture URL, click Edit. Make sure you have your popup blocker disabled, because it will appear in a popup window.
Then either select your intended avatar from those pictured or click Custom Avatar if you want a picture on your computer as your avatar.
Click Browse and select the image you want.
Make sure you read the TOS regarding avatars before you choose one.

Do you mean your avatar or pictures under your text?
For avatar you need to have a picture on your computer. Go to profile and click the button that says edit. Then click the button that says change avatar or something like that. Near the bottom its gonna say something like "picture from the web and upload" You click the upload button and find where the picture you want is located then double click it and click the button that says save profile.
That's for your avatar.
If you just want to post pictures, than you need to upload them somewhere on the Internet. (www.photobucket.com is good but they will delete pictures with mature content)
Copy and paste the link where the picture is located and do this www.wherethepicisposted.com (http://www.wherethepicisposted.com) and the picture will appear under your text.

HELP... I haven't posted in a couple months and I just noticed that, after having it up for a few years, my avatar is now gone http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif Did the policy change and mine was just pulled down and I wasn't notified?
Are faces required now if there's any nudity in the image? Mine was a full length pic of my backside, somewhat like Jay473's avatar.
What's the deal?

steve-o, a LOT of avatars were lost when CFF upgraded to eve a year or so ago. Corey was able to restore some of them and a goody number of us had to re-post our avatars. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/sad3.gif
I hope this helps explain it.

People that post there own avatar picture are there any of them that are still shy closet nudists and don't want to tell anyone that they enjoy doing some things in the nude?

Unless your parents give the mods here the thumbs up for you to post a pic of yourself (nude) - it wont be allowed.
Otherwise, you could post a picture of yourself but keep the lighting and what not fairly dark as to not give away too much, or stand far back from the camera. Odds are likely that if anyone you know (or that knows you) sees you on this site, they probably carry the same interests and you would probably make a new friend.

I was a closet nudist for many years and didnt post my picture at first. When I finally worked up the courage it was the first of many my personal triumphs as a nudist.
Ive only recently started becoming more active in the community in the last couple of years. Now I visit the local resort, have my own nudist website, will be attending my first non-landed function in a couple of weeks and have told my family and friends.
Moral of the story is, take your time. Don't post it if you're not ready. And its normal to change your mind and take it down and post it back up again a few times.

As far as I go, I didn't post my picture for several reasons.
<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI>I am so far in the closet with most people, I rarely mention even nude art to them (not very many people).
<LI>I wanted to put the Smirk (the album cover of Have A Nice Day up because I identified with the music video.
<LI>I don't have a pic of myself, let alone nude.[/list]
Otherwise, I probably would post my own pic. The last item is the most important; you can't post what you don't have.

OK, you computer nerds (and I use that term with the utmost affection). I tried to change my avatar today and got an error message that my upload was not in an appropriate/acceptable format. I followed the procedures in the edit profile section of my CFF profile. I think my problem may be the format that my artwork is in. It is in a pdf format, and I am thinking this is not useable for an avatar. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not too much of a nerd, but I would recommend trying to change it to a .jpg or .bmp somehow. Maybe you could print off the pic and scan it as a JPEG and try again.
From my experience, PDF files are used primarily for documents.

Personally I don't feel comfortable with any photo's of me online, clothed or not. I'm old enough that it isn't a legal issue, but don't feel comfortable with people whom I don't know seeing me. Once I get to know people I often send them photo's of me so as they can see what I look like, but only after I get to know them.

It may seem a little contradictory to my previous post ^^ but when I said I don't like photo's of myself online I meant in a context of anything recogniseable, which this one isn't, so I'm happy enough to use it.

If others don't like it, it's their problem, and they can always switch to another website.

I change my avatar periodically. It is always a nude photo though it is not always a frontal shot. It usually features sunglasses or a snorkeling mask; however, friends and family would probably still recognize me. If any friends or family have seen my photo, they haven't mentioned it. All my family and coworkers know that my wife and I periodically visit nudist resorts and nude beaches, so I don't know that any of them would be too shocked to come across my posts.
I would feel somewhat hypocritical to support nude recreation and then not post my photo. I do understand why some may wish to maintain anonymity due to possible negative reactions from conservative family and friends.

I'm inclined to allow it based on its originality/artistic merit (albeit humorous art).

That image has been in cirulation for ages all over the internet.
It violates the TOS by being a crotch shot that is the center of attention to the genitals, and is a headless close up of a un-identified persons genitals copied from the internet.
I would just remove the image from the profile, and make a note or pvt message to the user that it violates the TOS they agreed to adbide by, and he must use another image or avatar for their profile.

This image from "MySpace" 81,000,000+ members and its TOS says NO Nudity was referenced on CFI Forums and removed immediately. [Not by Me, it just disappeared]
So are these funny, decorated, and modified images just jokes and/or appropriate for a family Nudist and Naturist Forum?, If so will this start a trend to close up crotch and genital shots which the CFF Says are not allowed.
I didn't see the MySpace or this imagef331.jpg offensive either, just funny or comical to a seasoned nudist. If you allow one; others will follow, and you know some out of 16,000 will complain about anything.
So that’s my 2 cents worth

This image goes too far and is sexually explicit [Seen on No Nudity MySpace!] So be on the watch for possible migration over to CFF Forums as a funny, close up, or decorated image which someone could mistake or consider to be of nudist content. [This image also somewhat falls in the category of the two previous close-up shots featuring the male genitalia, being in the Sun, lounge chairs, and the beach in the background, except this is definitely sexually explicit, and objectionable for this forum [Example only for Moderator discussion of the threshold or line being crossed for close up genital, or crotch shot, & center of focus or attention on images].
So where does the line drop or the axe fall? When they become sexually explicit [As in this image "erection" & "sexual bodily secretions" Close up, or Not!
That's my thoughts, and feelings, and an excellent discussion in confidence between the moderators.
Thanks "ercNY" for bringing up the Subject, notice and discussion.

I thought about it a lot before including my photo here. But I am not ashamed of being a nudist and I see nothing wrong with it. To me it is a positive, self-empowering and fun aspect of life. If someone else sees it here, they are at least interested enough in a nude lifestyle to be looking here and maybe we'll find out we have more in common than we thought. And if I really believe what I just said, and I do, I'd post a photo, and I did!

I have posted a nude picture of myself, backside view, it's my avatar. I don't mind posting nor do I care if anyone finds out and or sees my nude picture here.
I've not posted any frontal views, here on CFI, for various reasons that I don't care to get into in a public forum. Care to know, PM me, I'll share them with you, they are nothing earth shattering, just my personal feelings and reasons.
I've posted several others of myself and the Prof on other sites we are members of and I feel much more willing to do so there than I do here. For the most part, I just haven't posted a frontal picture of me here cuz I usually forget to or don't have a picture I like well enough to post.
The Prof is a different story. She tells me which site and which pictures. If she's not comfortable with the site or the picture, I don't get to post it. It's that simple. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif

I'm relatively new to digital photography. Can anyone tell me how to shrink a photo that I could use for a new avatar. How many KB's would a 140 pixel X 140 pixel photo be?
Thanks,
Dave

I hope you are not an English teacher (new as opposed to knew). Thought I would bring that to your attention, not trying to be a smart a$$.
As a County worker, at first I thought about posting my pic, but decided, whoever looks at my pic, is also a nudist, or someone who is familiar with this site. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

I am a nudist http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/happy.gif, this is a nudist website, so posting my photo on Clothes Free seemed the normal thing to do.
Nobody I know has recognized me yet, but if they do, I am happy to explain my nudist lifestyle and hopefully convert them!

To Naturist and Nudists, Plain nudity in images is common place on nudist forums or portals, but not necessarily so to the general public surfing the net, or forums like this when any major search engine lists CFI, CFF at high priority by entering Nude, Naturist, Nudist and many other related words in a search engine. To the general population not familiar with plain nudist nudity they might relate your nudity as sexual.
Just remember that your picture, avatar, or image posted on a nudist form can be accessed by anyone as a guest or simply signing on or registering.
That picture has a URL or web address, and can be lifted, copied, transferred, or captured by many simple ways, and if reposted on an Adult, or XXX site by anyone you are related to that site as being sexually explicit by being nude.
Your plain nudity can be morphed, modified or cloned, and if seen [for example] by your work place or school administration can implicate you with pornographic postings or used against you by others.
Once posted on the WWW World Wide Web pictures multiply like wild fire all over the globe, including image search portals such as "Google's" Image Data Base and several others.
In today’s environment of Broadband High Speed connections, and Social networks such as the immensely popular 82,000,000 member MySpace used by teen age’s and children 13 years or younger, Your privacy, personal information, address, phone number, school, or interests, or images are very dangerous to post publicly. You just do not know who is tracking, monitoring or copying your personal information and/or images for identity theft or worse intentions. Just type in "MySpace Problems" in any Search engine portal such as Google, Yahoo, MSN to see all the problems they are having.
So just remember someone is always watching, and out of a billion online [just guessing] your one nude image will multiply thousands of times and be all over the globe in days and maybe changed not to your liking!
It's next to impossible to get your image removed or contact someone to do the same once they spread around the net or to objectionable adult, or XXX rated sites.

Naked Gary, you brought up some very good points. Like you stated, once the pics are on the site, then the possiblity of your pic ending up on a porn site is amplified. I believe this is why so many members are reluctant and decided to remain anonymous, as far as pics goes. Posting your pics here puts a face with a name, but once posted, it could multiply onto other sites rapidly.
Very good point. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/smoking.gif

Since my avatar is so small, i would think if someone wanted to take it and blow it up it would turn grainy. Also, there are far more "attractive" looking people on porno sites than myself, so i don't really care that my avatar shows me nude. If someone does find this naked picture of me (like a client or friend) than i would explain what being a nudist is about and they might leave the discussion a little more open minded. I would not post a full frontal close up of me as that is not my thing, but i am very happy with my avatar, which is why i have not changed it for years.

I am with Florida-david and the use of the avatar. As mine is small, and if found by a colleague, I would use the opportunity to share my views on naturism and the enjoyment of nude recreation. I believe, like david, the person would leave the conversation with a different perspective and maybe an interest to check it out.

What is there to be shy about? This is a site by nudists, for nudists. Since I am very open about me being nudist, a very large percentage of my friends, relations and co-workers already know it.
When someone asks "How can I let others 'see' me, I usually reply with something to the effect "and how am I any different than any other man?"

Maybe CFI should make Avatars viewable only by members and not by guests.

I think it an irelevant idea to make pictures viewable by members only. Do you think that people actually come to this site to look at my over sized belly when there are "perfect" naked bodies available for free all over the internet? I doubt it I will appear on any porn site due to my avatar or pictures in the photo albums. If I want to look at naked people, sorry guys I do not come to this site. Maybe some of those people lurking the site are here to learn about nudism. I like to think that some of those lurkers are people that are here to discover they like to be nude, but society is telling them they are perverts for being naked. By reducing my over sized belly picture to only those members that have already seen my big belly, than we are saying that nudism is bad and should not be seen by the masses. I would rather people see naked people doing normal things and realize nudism does not equal sex.
just my three cents (inflation)....

I fail to see why or what "Gay", bi-sexual, lesbian, or a-sexual has anything to do with the topic/thread on posting a avatar or picture.
A sensor detects something. Do you mean censor the photo?
Explain, censor the photo for what?

Question:
How did you get the mis-conception ?

The dictionary
sensor:
SENSE any of various devices designed to detect, measure, pressure, etc., and to respond, as by transmitting information, initiating changes, or operating controls.
"haze.." maybe different useage of the word between U.S. and UK.

I don't see how being gay or not has any bearing on one's decision to post a nude avatar. If you receive unwanted communications just say you are not interested. If you receive truly inappropriate or offensive messages just inform the moderators.
I'm also a bit confused by the "brought up from the other direction" statement. http://oakhurstonline.com/icon/confused.gif

When "BlobbyBob" first posted his present avatar/image [top post of this or page 2] I thought it was rather dark. Thinking he might not know how to modify, lighten or color correct, I went ahead and did that and reposted the avatar for him only to find out he wanted it dark and art like for the effect and just the way it was.
The present forum software automatically resizes avatar images sometimes loosing the aspect ratio, and reducing the resolution and peculating the avatar. Still on occasion it makes the avatar so wide it looks as if I'm a 300 lb circus character.

Isn't it obvious? He probably has "that kind of look" that gays find irresistable. Maybe his penis is extra fancy or something.
It's tough being a straight guy in a gay world.

But if unclothed's parents do that, they are already aware of his interest in nudism. Hopefully they are also reading the pages and learning it is nothing to be ashamed of.

The only rules are that the photo be of the actual person, that if the photo is nude then it be a 'naturist' type of photo, and that the person be at least 18 years of age. Are there any other photo rules that I missed?

I post at another nudist site that is well moderated. I have a nude photo of myself on that site. One of the reasons I did this was because the site is small, and the access is, somewhat, controlled. Many of us had been posting for quite some time. One of the posters put up a picture of herself that was taken at a Naturist Gathering. She suggested it may be nice for others to do the same, so we could visualize those we'd been corresponding with. The idea sounded good, so I did.
I would not feel as comfortable posting here for the reasons others have already stated.

1. Click on " My Profile/Messages" at the top of the forums page.
2. "Click View/Edit Complete Profile" on your profile page.
3. Scroll down to the "Avatar / Picture URL" section.
4. Click the "Edit" link beside your current picture.
5. A pop-up should appear. On the pop-up window, click "Custom Avatar". From here you can select "Upload Custom Avatar" and upload your picture or select "URL for your Custom Avatar", for an image web address (for an image that is already uploaded to a website somewhere).

Or just right click and hold on the page, go down to refresh and click. Then the new page or updated page should appear.
The problem is the page you were looking at has not been refreshed, and some browsers do not refresh but each 24 hours, or by exiting the page and recalling it will refresh to the current updated page.
How do I ad an avatar to my profile. And, can I add a picture? Also, I was going to post a pic in the forum and it was too large. How do I resize a photo?

I believe that it was Naked Gary who assisted me in setting up my avatar and of course by now I have forgotten how.
I recently after many attempts was able to put up a photo. It took me several attempts but I used Adobe Photo Studio. I had to keep making my photo smaller and smaller before it was accepted and when you are doing this you must remember to reduce height and width by the same percentage or you end up with a distorted picture.
I have not noticed Gary around, perhaps he is on holidays but he will be the man to talk to.
I just uploaded a new one. It took me a while to figure out how get it to 140x140 pixels. We'll see if this one gets by the avatar police. I had one that didn't. I used microsoft office picture manager to adjust the photo to 140x140. It was much bigger than than when downloaded from my camera. I'm sure there are many other programs that will make the conversion.
The picture is from a recent trip I took to Florida.

I have had many avatars on this forum..then I took them off and now I am back on. As long as I do not disclose my real name, my phone number or address, I am OK. I imagine the only one that can do a photo-match is the FBI and, well, I have nothing to hide and they would find me anyway if I were hiding! I was also afraid that my boss would find out and somehow hold this against me, but I honestly don't think that would happen any longer.
I really think communicating with a photo brings you just a little closer to the group and makes the discussion a little more personal.
And if a future boyfriend or relative or boss happens to run across my picture.. and not appreciate what I have done..I guess they would just have to deal with it. I am my own person and my avatar is an extention of who I am.
couldn't agree with u more...
