I live in a small community, I don't know how they feel about nudity, my neighbors on both sides and across the street know I hang out naked at home, one time or another they have seen me naked, they apperrntly don't talk about it, I still live here and am not known as the town nudist. I mow sometimes nude and have sunbathed nude in my backyard, am I pushing the envelope? if my neighbers have seen me should I still cover up? I have a 100' by 100' backyard with just syclone fence, tell me what you would do? i actually feel like I should walk over nude and talk wih my neighbors. But that may be an allussion. How cool would it be to be able to use your yard nude with no restrictions????

I definately would NOT go over to your neighbors NUDE and tell them you're a nudist, clothed would be better.
Our neighbors on both sides know we walk around the backyard, swim, sumbath, etc. naked. I don't think they know we're card carrying, dues paying nudists.
They have seen us, as have their children, who I would imagine have told them what they have already seen. They seem to respect that and our privacy. Haven't had any problems or complaints.
If you feel compeled to tell them, I think that's fine, but do it clothed, then you'll probably be able to carry on you nude lifestyle without any problems.
That's my thoughts! /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I guess I'LL bring it up this summer. I think I'll post a poll. later

We only have one neighbor. My wife and I have been trying to muster up the courage to tell them. We have always been careful to not be seen from their house, we would like it much better if we did not have to worry about it as much.
For those that told their nextdoor neighbors, what kind of reaction did you get?

This past weekend, the weather has been tremendous. I did yard work in the nude, and neither of my neighbors said anything. In your last post, I already stated I have the approval from two of my neighbors, but the other two, I don't know yet. I'll talk to them soon.
As far as picking up the courage to ask the neighbors, what I did was simply called them up and asked them if I would offend anyone if I cleaned the pool while in the nude. To my surprise, they did not object. So, this was my green light to be naked in the privacy of my own backyard. My wife is starting to join me nude, but only when the kids aren't home, and only while inside.
This past weekend has been great, so I spent the entire day outside doing yardwork in the backyard, naked. It felt great. I almost went outside in the front, but caught myself before I embarrassed myself. My wife dared me, but this neighborhood is full of kids, and with the way the weather was, they were all outside. As luck would have it, the front door was locked, so while I was messing with the locks, I realized I hadn't had anything on.

I sometimes forget when I post a reply that many are not as lucky as we are to have a completely private backyard. I feel for many of you who do not have totally privacy on your own property.
ercNY: Never really told any of the neighbors that we were nudists. We had wooden fences that were old and falling apart before the block walls went up. You could see quite well through the fence. We just carried on our normal, we think its normal, life and they could see us through the fence. I really think with the two young boys that live next door, the parents didn't want them looking or watching my wife. They have never brought it up...still good neighbors, still talk all the time.
Riverrat:
I think the only problem you may encounter with your neighbors is if they have children and they preferred the children weren't exposed to your nudity. Very sad that people think like that in the first place, but if you talk with your neighbors and explain your lifestyle and dilema they may just surprise you and confess their approval and or desire to so the same.
During our travels my wife and I are always amazed at the lack of privacy fences and walls in so many parts of the country. We tend to be more territorial here in So. Cal. which is good and bad in different ways. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Riverrat,
Hope your neighbors are opened minded when you do tell them about your lifestyle.
This may be a topic for another thread, we talked to our grown children last year about our nudist lifestyle. They had problems with it in the beginning but have adjusted quite well now.
Their main concern was the nudity/sex correlation. Our daughter and son-in-law may have hit the nail on the head when they confessed that they don't think at their age (29 and 30) that they are yet mature enough to separate the two issues, nudity and sex. This could be one reason why we don't see more younger people enjoying naturism.
Hopefully this maturity issue will work in your favor with you neighbors and they will see nothing wrong with your lifestyle and you will be able to live it to the fullist.
Good Luck. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
I have a nephew in his 20's who said he didn't want to get used to seeing nude people because he is afraid it would de-sensitize him to where nudity wouldn't be as much of a turn-on for him.
