Yeah, this sin't really nude recreation but I figured I might as well post my arguement here anyway. For those of you who watched the Simpsons movie Bart's penis was shown for a mere 5 seconds. Why are people making a big deal out of it? Natural with no /explicit content is even acceptable in PG movies, some say. It's not like Bart's penis is unexpected, after all, he's a guy, so what's the big deal?

We live in a society where the world of 'Supposed To' reignd supreme. If you break that or any rule of 'supposed to' then there is to be a big hubb bub, and that is another 'supposed to' element of the whole plan.
Bart's penis is 'supposed to' be always covered and not exposed. And now that it is, then the 'supposed to' group will bring on the 'supposed to' dialogue in abundent fevor consistant of the 'supposed to' way of doing things. And there is no other way to do thing, because you are 'supposed to' !!!!

Actually, Bart's penis doesn't exist when it's 'covered', it only exists when it is drawn. Wouldn't that be a bummer? You only have a penis when you take your pants off? Kind of like the light in the refrigerator.

Gee Whiz; This is the same as Janet Jackson doesn't have a nipple until it's shown on nationwide TV for 2.5 seconds. Gimme a Break! Rick

You fail to understand the obvious.
Janet Jackson is a real person and all of her body parts exist whether seen or not. Bart is a cartoon and no part of him exists, even on paper, until it is drawn.

I have a few theories.
1. They were showing frontal nudity. Many people still don't know how to handle that.
2. Its an animated movie. In this country when most people see animation they automatically think its meant for children. So since many people think children shouldn't be exposed to nudity, non-sexual or otherwise, nudity in an animation is unthinkable. But like I said on another topic about this, I wonder if those same people have a problem with seeing Bart's naked butt on many episodes?
3. This last one is an extreme view, but one I wouldn't be surprised if some people held. On the show Bart Simpson is ten years old. Maybe in some people's minds showing frontal nudity of him is a form of child pornography.

Yet, despite all of the protestations, it took in about 71 million dollars in its opening weekend, far surpassing expectations. I guess Bart's penis was much ado over nothing.
