The pentagon is going to send thousands of copies of Left Behind: Eternal Forces (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/leftbehindeternalforces/index.html?tag=result;title;0) to the troops serving in Iraq.

This is insane on a few levels.

1) The game sucks
2) Pushing radical christianity in a muslim coutry is stupid.
3) Pushing radical christianity in a muslim coutry to our soldiers, who are already under enough stress, is insane.
4) This is your tax dollars at work.

Not only that but the unit in the Pentagon that is doing this keeps refering to a 'crusade'.

It's been tried before. Didn't work. But some are just thick headed and keep repeating the same thing again and again.

Of course the last time they 'tried' was 1000 years ago and it was the radical catholics (aka: christians), of Europe. But then again those radical catholics were ousted from Europe and landed on these shores as the radical fundamentalists. So, I guess it stands to reason they would still be doing the same thing today as a thousand years ago ... they haven't changed so why change what they do.

I hope this is merely a terrific waste of time and money.

I actually find this outrageous. Many of the American soldiers are Jewish, Muslim, etc. I know of an Orthodox Jewish Chaplain over in the theater now.

They should not be subjected to spreading of the Gospel while they are fighting to defend their country.

“Left Behind players wage a violent war against United Nations-like peacekeepers who, according to LaHaye's interpretation of Revelation, represent the armies of the Antichrist.” If I made this up, people would think no one would be stupid enough to distribute this nonsense. In this case the Bush Administration’s defense department has proven the Democrats wrong. The war is not run by incompetent demagogues for it is not run that well.

The Muslim extremists refer to our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan as a crusade. This effort will provide evidence to support their claims.

The only reasons to support this effort are:

1) To use the government to support a religion, despite the first amendment.

2) Give our enemies a recruiting tool.

3) To divide this country even more.

Oh c'mon guys. This sort of things works with the average American...surely it'll work "over there".

Didn't we jsut before our invasion of Iraq hire some NY Flack from Pepsi or some such to develop TV ads to run on Arab TV, extolling the virtues of democracy.

If it weren't so tragic it would make one hell of a sit-com.
